That fog machine honestly MADE the party, turning the space into something truly epic. I genuinely can't picture it having the same incredible energy without it, so a massive thank you for that unexpected, perfect touch. And because we had a masquerade theme, I asked if the DJs would wear disco masks and they SAID YES and wore them the entire time, even after I told them they absolutely didn't have to for more than one song! It just created such an amazing vibe, and we've got the pictures to prove how much fun everyone had! There's just so much to appreciate about this incredible group. “High Voltage DJ was the last major vendor we booked because we truly believe music can make or break a party, and we wanted to get it right. Two weeks after our wedding, I can confidently say that the combo of HVDJ and our venue, Swan Lake Caterers, helped us throw an unforgettable celebration! We chose a DJ, MC, and photo booth. HVDJ also provided music for guest arrival, our ceremony, and cocktail hour. Leading up to the big day, Matt worked with us to complete a planning form that helped organize all the details—from the wedding party lineup and processional to our grand entrance and toasts. After our final meeting, we felt confident everything would go smoothly, and it did! We gave DJ Angelo a few must-play songs and shared the vibe we wanted for each part of the evening, but mostly asked him to read the room. He absolutely delivered! The only time the dance floor was empty was during dinner, and even then the music was so good I was singing along between bites. Throughout the night, the team checked in with us and kept the energy high. My cousins even joked that DJ Angelo might owe them new knees from dancing so much! At the end of the night, Chris and Nolan from the photo booth had us take a picture for the cover of a photo album filled with guest snapshots and well wishes, a lovely surprise. Thorough and genius, and apparently visible to them before you hit submit. Which meant they saw me type things like “Haed pass,” “No thank you,” and “What even is that??” Live. Thankfully, they have incredible senses of humor. They checked in multiple times, did a full site visit, and showed up with a sound team who stayed all night to make sure everything was flawless. They even coordinated our private outdoor first dance with our violinist while sending the music inside to guests — seamlessly. But the reception is where they catapulted into untouchable territory. They don’t just sing and DJ… they perform. Including: * the full, committed N’SYNC “Bye Bye Bye” choreography * A Blink - 182 elder millennial scream-along that transported us back to 2003 * Coming onto the dance floor to hype everyone * Interacting with guests like they’ve known us forever. “**Dr. Beat was absolutely incredible!** We had **Mike and Gene** as our DJ and MC, and they made our night unforgettable. From our very first phone call, we knew we’d made the right choice — they gave off great vibes, were professional, and truly delivered. Everything was perfect, from the rustic façade of the DJ booth to the cocktail hour playlist (which sounded like something we would’ve made ourselves) to the incredible reception music. They were honest, familiar with our venue (Toast in Patchogue), and never tried to upsell us. Mike took the time to go over our preferences beforehand, and he just *got it*. They understood the assignment and gave us a night we’ll never forget. The dance floor was packed the entire evening — not a single person left on the first shuttle because no one wanted to stop dancing, not even my 91-year-old grandma who stayed until the very end! They paid close attention to every detail — from our final dance song to the special tribute song for my brother and every request in between. Throughout the night, they checked in with us to make sure we were happy, seamlessly made announcements to gather guests for photos or speeches, and kept the energy high from start to finish. If you’re debating between hiring just a DJ or a DJ and MC — **get both!** It makes such a difference. The DJ can focus on mixing while the MC hypes up the crowd and keeps everything running smoothly. Our only “complaint” was that the dance floor was *too crowded* — exactly what we wanted! Cocktail hour was perfect — the volume, vibe, and timing were spot-on. Since they knew the layout of Toast, they easily set up music in a separate room with zero issues. The night flowed perfectly; there wasn’t a single awkward pause or song we wanted to skip. It was a nonstop party with amazing energy. We couldn’t be happier with our choice. If you’re reading this, stop comparing and **just book them** — you won’t regret it. And for anyone thinking a playlist and speaker could replace pros like this… trust me, you have no idea what you’d be missing. We’ve had countless guests tell us it was the best wedding they’ve ever been to and that they were on the dance floor all night — that’s entirely thanks to Mike and Gene. Marcus did such an amazing job DJing our wedding, we couldn’t be more thrilled. He is extremely thoughtful with his work. He took careful note of my husband and my musical tastes and preferences, as well as the vibe of our wedding, instead of playing a standard tired playlist. Per our request, he blended in some Latin music seamlessly. The dance floor was full and lively all night long, exactly as we had hoped for! He played songs we hadn’t requested but that we love, leaving me wondering how he could have known so well what to play. He also respected our “do not play” list, as I found out multiple guests requested songs on it and he politely declined. Marcus is very thorough and organized which made working with him so easy- he was on top of all the details, order of events/cues, even reviewed proper name pronunciation with us in advance. The event manager at our venue said she loved working with him and was very impressed. They dressed appropriately for our wedding theme and many of the guests at the Hawthorne Hotel wanted to take pictures with Karlea in her Twenties attire. In addition to being a wonderful experience, they were also a great value for the price. These are top quality musicians and we paid a reasonable price for the band.
