Modern Strings
We are a husband and wife team located in New Haven, Connecticut who have played over 1000+ weddings and hire professionals from the top orchestras in New England. As a modern couple ourselves, recently married in May of 2021, we are very familiar with the process on both sides. Modern Strings offers a variety of ensemble choices for your budget that range from a solo violinist, to an electric duo, to full string quartet. Whether you are wanting to stay classic or try something unique, our music library can offer you classical, pop, religious, film, jazz music, and more!
We believe that the modern couple, should have modern musicians that can take play in a variety of styles in order to create a personalized experience for their event. Planning a wedding is an exciting time, and you'll have not one, but two people to assist in complementing your musical style to your wedding.

Solo
Solo musician. Most popular request is violin but can also be viola, or cello. Any style of choice. Electric or amplified options available.
- Ceremony and/or Cocktail hour music
The Duo
Two musicians. Options can be two violins, violin and viola, violin and cello, or violin and guitar. Any style of choice. Electric and/or amplified options available.
- Music for ceremony and/or cocktail hour
The String Trio
Three musicians. Most popular request is a string trio which includes (2 violins and cello or violin, viola, and cello). Any style of choice.
- Music for ceremony and/or cocktail hour
The Jazz Trio
Three musicians. Usually violin, guitar, and upright bass. Keys can be subbed in place of guitar.

We are so happy we chose Modern Strings for our wedding ceremony & cocktail hour. They were great to work with from start to finish. Our guests absolutely loved their string trio and it added such a special touch!
Hit The Perfect Notes For Our Library Wedding
For our library wedding in Newport, RI, we knew from the start we wanted strings for our ceremony and cocktail hour. Modern Strings felt like the perfect find, with a library of classical and modern songs to choose from. They were incredibly organized throughout the process and, when the day came, flawlessly set the romantic tone we had in mind with their trio. Family and friends talked about how much they loved sitting in the ceremony space, surrounded by books and beautiful classical music, which Modern Strings perfectly matched to our processional and recessional song choices. We had some latecomer guests to the ceremony, but you wouldn't know it from the cellist who continued playing my song seamlessly for the moment I walked in. Cocktail hour was a dream, too. We asked for upbeat, Bridgerton-style pop covers and they delivered, along with one special request. For the last song of cocktail hour, we asked our trio to play Clair De Lune for our first dance. It was the perfect, dreamy prelude to doors opening in reveal of our dinner space. I can't say thank you enough, and can't recommend Modern Strings enough.
Elevates your guests experience
My experience with Modern Strings was wonderful. My violinist arrived to my wedding early and spoke with me asking if I had any last minute requests or changes. He was kind and played such beautiful music that really elevated the experience of my wedding. My guests were blown away!
Wedding 10/8/23
Modern strings was absolutely terrific. The communication with Celine was easy and she was always quick to respond. When I had questions about song selections she was prompt in giving suggestions. The ceremony music was so beautiful. My dad broke down in tears as he walked me down the aisle to the chorus of "A Thousand Years" because it was such an amazing moment created by Modern Strings. I remember going out to cocktail hour and hearing them play "Beautiful Day" by U2 and I stopped for a second to take everything in and I just smiled at Celine because the environment they created could not have been more beautiful and the song was so fitting for the day! I would recommend them to anyone!!
