About The Poor Cousins
The Poor Cousins
Husband and wife duo, The Poor Cousins, combine intimate, nourishing songs and gutsy tunes in an easy-going style. On fiddle, Naomi finds sounds both fiery and flowing, blending seamlessly with Emmet's rhythmic and elegant guitar back-up. The duo performs various styles including classical, popular tunes, and American, Irish and all Celtic fiddle music. In addition to playing at many weddings and events in the New York City / New England area the duo have performed in many countries around the world, both together and separately.
We are a versatile and flexible duo and are willing to work with a couple to find the music that most fits them. Our music can be fully instrumental or can include vocals. Or indeed a mix of both. Our sound is always tasteful and grounded, and is not overly showy. Just like ourselves.

Absolutely Stellar
The Poor Cousins were phenomenal. Learned a couple of songs for our ceremony, and were a perfect add to our cocktail hour and wedding day. They are GREAT, timely, and communicative.

The Poor Cousins Were a Joy to Work With
We hired The Poor Cousins (Emmet & Naomi) to play for our ceremony and cocktail hour, and we couldn’t be happier with that decision. I had been looking for musicians to learn a somewhat obscure piece of music, and The Poor Cousins took on the challenge with excitement. I’ll always cherish the memory of hearing that song expertly played on Naomi’s violin as I walked down the aisle. The Poor Cousins were very easy to work/plan with leading up to the wedding, arrived on time, and sounded wonderful. I highly recommend booking them for your event!

The perfect romantic touch to our wedding
Our day wouldn't have been the same without Naomi & Emmet's music. Walking down the aisle to a violin and classical guitar rendition of "Enchanted" is something I won't forget. They were masters of their craft, easy to communicate with, prompt, and a real highlight of the cocktail hour. Don't think twice on hiring The Poor Cousins!

Emmet and Naomi were wonderful! They traveled to play at our wedding at Jeffers Hill Farm in Pike, NH in September 2025. They were wonderful to deal with from the initial inquiry to post wedding follow-up. They were very easy to communicate with initially and have a great repertoire of songs to choose from! They even learned some new songs that we requested for recessional/processional etc. They played a variety of beautiful songs during our ceremony and cocktail hour. They were extremely professional and wonderfully talented artists. All of our guests commented on how enjoyable they were to listen to while mingling during cocktail hour. I would highly recommend having them play at your wedding!

The Poor Cousins were an absolute pleasure to work with for our wedding! Communication was so easy and smooth - they were extremely responsive and accommodating throughout the entire planning process. As musicians, they are truly amazing - they brought our wedding ceremony and reception to life in such a wonderful way. I had a vision in mind and wanted to join in 3 songs together for my entrance, and they made it happen in a way that was even better than I expected! They are extremely talented and kind, and their pricing is amazing too. We cannot recommend The Poor Cousins enough for any couple looking for incredible live music for their special day.
