I was introduced to photography as a Sophomore in High School and immediately found myself winning state-wide competitions, which only drove me to love photography even more. I knew I wanted to make photography my full-time gig ever since then. In February of 2006 I rented a booth at a bridal festival with photos of my daughter and my dog as my portfolio. I asked EVERY person that walked by my booth to take a chance on me because I knew it was my destiny... I booked 14 weddings from that festival and never looked back!

I love practicing yoga regular with Janelle and taking the pups on hikes around Colorado. I’ve been taking pictures regularly since I was 17. In 2008 I went back to school for photography in the nations capital. I got my BFA degree in Photographic Imaging at the Art Institute of Washington.

Through my lens, I am delighted to see the world differently. I believe that in imagery, we can show what the world could be: full of love, light, and wonder. We see glimpses of it, especially in young children, animals, and loving moments, because they aren’t afraid to be who they are, and we get to see their playful nature shine out. This why I strive to capture those tender moments, the kind that we don’t typically get to see when someone says ‘cheese’. These moments are something we could all use a little more of in the world.

When I was younger, my entire life centered around reading. My head was constantly in a book, or writing down my own short stories. As I grew up, I knew that I wanted to become a story teller myself, but instead of words I used pictures. So here I am today, documenting everyone’s unique love story and loving every single second of it

So there we were, young 20-somethings, stupidly in love. We knew we were just right for each other – in alignment where it mattered and our opposite traits balanced each other out like a romantic seesaw ride. You know the feeling because you’re right there too. What else can you do but marry this adventure partner you found? We couldn’t have been more excited to do the “I do” thing, but then we opened this can of worms called wedding planning. We quickly realized we hated absolutely everything about planning a wedding. It wasn’t for us.

I don’t just consider myself a wedding photographer or a portrait photographer, I consider myself an artist that uses a camera to create. As a wedding photographer I feel like portrait photography helps me with posing of group formals and it helps to get people to smile and look at the camera. As an artist, I love everything about what I do! I really appreciate the center pieces, table settings, different lighting settings, the moment before a smile breaks out, the messed up hair of kiddos playing and such things at weddings.
