“We got married at Stony Woods Estate during the weekend of Hurricane Helene. This storm devastated WNC in ways that are hard to put into words. Entire roadways, bridges, and towns were washed away, leaving communities isolated and in crisis. We chose Stony Woods because our families and friends were going to be traveling from out of state. Stony Woods offered the perfect setup. In addition to the main villa, the property has several beautiful/modern cabins within walking distance. As the storm wreaked havoc on the surrounding areas, 24 of us, including young children and elderly relatives—hunkered down at SW for 3.5 days, waiting for a safe route out. Despite the devastation around us, we were incredibly fortunate. Stony Woods sits high enough up the mountain that the venue remained mostly untouched, aside from a few downed trees and the loss of power/running water. The property became a sanctuary offering stunning mountain views once the storm passed. These moments of natural beauty provided comfort and healing as we navigated the chaos. When the situation turned dire, Kim and Steve stepped up in ways we never expected. They brought us vital supplies—diapers, baby wipes, food, water, and more. Their kindness and support were a lifeline while there. We had planned for a wedding with 75 guests, complete with vendors but of course, none of that happened. We didn’t have our full wedding party. Even our officiant, had no way of reaching us/vice versa. We didn’t know if she was safe, let alone if she’d be able to officiate our ceremony. Amid the uncertainty, Kim asked if we still wanted to get married and if there was anything she could do to help. With everything going on, the thought of still having our wedding seemed almost impossible. I replied, “We don’t even have an officiant.” To my surprise, Kim told me that Steve is ordained. She reassured me that if we wanted to move forward with the ceremony, Steve would happily step in. The morning of our wedding, everyone on the property—including Kim and Steve —came together to make it happen. My stepmother did the decor so we had them with us, My SIL did my hair in an RV outlet, and my MOH did my makeup with whatever we had. We used a BT speaker to play whatever songs we already downloaded on our phones. I don’t even remember what song played as I walked down the aisle, but it was perfect. For our reception meal Kim and Steve made a giant batch of spaghetti over their fire pit since we still had no power/were running low on food. Somehow, they also managed to bake a wedding cake—SO THOUGHTFUL. Despite the lack of vendors, guests, and traditional wedding elements, our people came together to create such a special day – a true testament to the power of community and love. The cherry on top? Our photographer, Ashley Sieg, miraculously made it to us with no cell service and no idea if we were still having a wedding. She captured stunning photos that we will cherish forever. Kim and Steve were more than just venue hosts; they were our lifeline during a harrowing weekend. Their generosity, resourcefulness, and genuine care made all the difference. From bringing supplies to officiating our ceremony, we couldn’t have done it without them. Stony Woods Estate is a breathtaking property. But beyond its beauty, this place holds a special magic. Rental of the Villa for an event includes the use of its outdoor spaces, plus numerous photo locations on the 85-acre property. We can also include lodging in the five-bedroom Villa for up to 12 people, ceremony and reception furnishings, and day-of services. (We are there to support you through every step of your day!) The Farm, A Gathering Place

“The Farm was an incredible wedding venue that exceeded all of our expectations. From the moment we started planning, the staff was incredibly helpful, communicative and great to work with. They guided us through every step of the process, from brainstorming our initial ideas to finalizing the perfect menu. The space itself was amazing - the flow and layout allowed for so many cozy little nooks and seating areas for our guests to gather and mingle. On the day of, the entire team executed everything flawlessly, and we received so many compliments from our guests that the food was the best they had ever had at a wedding. We truly felt that the staff cared deeply about the little details, and it showed in the incredible experience they provided for our special day. “We got married at Bent Creek Lodge on 8/6/22 and rented out the whole lodge and the Luhn house for ourselves and our guests for the weekend. It was extra special that we were able to get married here, because we actually stayed here the weekend we got engaged as well! It meant so much that we were able to return and share the experience with our loved ones. I am not exaggerating when I say that it was one of the most magical weekends of our lives, and it would not have been possible without Randy, Linda, and the rest of the amazing Bent Creek Lodge crew! The all-inclusive wedding package made it so insanely easy for us to have a top-tier wedding with minimal fuss and headaches on our part. We had our venue, lodging for all of our guests, officiant, catering, cake, beer and wine, and flowers all in a one-stop shop which made everything so much easier. The only things we chose to coordinate with outside vendors was the photography, DJ, and hair and makeup. Randy and his crew handled everything else, and they did an excellent job on all of it. All of the food was incredible, and they went above and beyond to accommodate our guests with special dietary needs. The flowers and cake were beautiful, and Randy did a wonderful job officiating our ceremony. Just about every single guest came up to us at least once during the weekend to gush about what an amazing time they were having, and several approached us afterwards to tell us it was one of the best weddings they had ever been to. The entire crew really went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and like family. Bent Creek Lodge will always have an extra special place in our hearts, and we couldn't be more grateful.”

“If I were to tell you my true feelings about Twisty Maple and event manager Jessie, you would probably think I'm obsessed and I would probably run out of characters. So read this review with the idea that I'm working on 50% capacity here. Twisty Maple was absolutely, positively the best venue my partner and I could have picked to host our family and friends for a wedding ceremony and celebration. It felt like a home away from home, not only because my family set up shop and stayed in the house for a week leading up to our wedding; but also because of the warmth and care that guests can feel built into every inch of the place. My partner and I chose Twisty as our venue as soon as we had a virtual call and tour with Jessie, before we had even seen the space in person. We we so immediately at ease with Jessie, who already felt like a family friend, and could tell that she cared deeply about the home and property. Jesse and the Twisty team genuinely want to share the space with folks, evidenced by a willingness to host atypical activities (I was at one point convinced I wanted an on-site smoker for a whole hog and Jessie was totally game) and offering of a garageful of event decor at no cost (including signage, bud vases, candle holders, baskets, barrels, and SO much more). Leading up to the big day, Jessie graciously offered her contact information to my and my partner's moms for any logistical questions related to the home rental, which helped enormously in saving time and stress. We were greeted by a welcome sign with the names of family members staying at the home and a thoughtful gift basket with goodies for my partner and I, including keepsake Twisty Maple mugs which are adorable. It was so great to have the space leading up to our event for family time and DIY-ing and resting. I am so grateful to Jessie for sharing Twisty Maple with my family and friends. The space will forever hold such a special space in my heart and I hope you, dear reader, have the opportunity to make unforgettable memories here too.”

“If you’re reading this review, I suspect you’ve already seen photos of the absolutely stunning Laurel Falls property from the long-range mountain views to the cascading waterfalls to the rhododendron forest to the well-equipped historical lodge and cabins. You may also be aware that you get the entire 18-acre venue and its 4 cabins for three whole days. These pieces alone could easily win you over. What can’t be captured in the photos is the quality of service, thoughtfulness of design, ongoing support, depth of knowledge, and genuine kindness exuded by each member of the Laurel Falls staff. Trust me, when planning a wedding, these things are VERY important, especially when planning from afar. Jordan, the owner, gave my then-fiancé and I the history of the property then took us on a tour of the property (and even did the on-site hiking trail with us). As we visited each area of the property, he helped us envision how we might use it for various weekend festivities. A wedding at Laurel Falls meant a long weekend with our favorite people in a gorgeous place and time to relax and soak in the whole experience - not just a single night that flies by so fast you don’t remember it. Despite my indecisive nature and this being the only venue we’d visited, it felt right and we knew it was for us. From this point, Kristen, the Events Director, was our main contact. There aren’t words to describe how phenomenal this woman is. Kristen is always so kind, helpful, positive, AND she could answer literally any obscure question I had. I reached out to Kristen to ask her recommendation on the ceremony start time because I wanted to be mindful of how the sun would impact the temp and the lighting at our chosen ceremony site. I expected just a discussion, but she blew me away when she also sent me the LF Pinterest page along with the names and ceremony start times of featured former couples married our same month. When I wasn’t sure how to arrange the tables and where to put the DJ to maximize dancing, she gave me insights AND shared layouts from other couples with a similar guest count. These are just a couple examples of Kristen’s meticulousness and level of support every step of the way. The Laurel Falls team truly thought of everything to make the wedding experience easy and pleasant. With the setting, we knew the wedding festivities would be beautiful, but the magical, memorable weekend wouldn’t have existed without the LF team. We’d choose this place - and these people - over and over again!!”

“Something Blue Mountain Venue was our first and only choice for our wedding venue. The views are breathtaking and it is like nature herself decided to give the perfect frame for every photo. The owner Lisa is wonderful and really makes it incredibly easy to show up and enjoy! She gave the best recommendations for vendors. Recent renovations even made a fully enclosed bar area perfect for sipping and staying warm in the winter. We had 35 people and it was the perfect size even though 35 was the maximum number of guests. Overall, not a chance in a million years I would prefer any other venue. We chose this venue because we wanted a beautiful mountain setting in NC where our family and friends could stay on property, and Serenity Ridge exceeded all our expectations. One of the things that set it apart is that the property is exclusively yours all weekend, making the experience private and completely focused on your event. Serenity Ridge is an incredible value. Their pricing is more of an “all-inclusive” model, covering the venue rental, lodging for 30 guests, catering, bartending, setup & cleanup, rentals... you name it. When you consider everything included, the cost is unbeatable — and it makes planning so much easier! The team at Serenity Ridge was incredibly helpful and communicative throughout the planning process. Haley answered all my questions with patience and kindness (and there were a lot!), providing great vendor recommendations and guidance along the way. On the wedding weekend, the staff was flexible, accommodating, and attentive, ensuring that everything ran smoothly. From exceptionally clean lodging to early and late check-ins, they truly go above and beyond for their guests. We hosted both our rehearsal dinner and wedding at Serenity Ridge, and the food was nothing short of amazing. Our guests are still raving — it’s not just “good wedding food,” it’s incredible restaurant quality. The staff during the events was also incredible. When rain started just 20 minutes before our ceremony, they quickly moved everything inside and then seamlessly flipped the pavilion from ceremony to reception in no time during cocktail hour without impacting the guest experience. Despite the brief rain, the day went perfectly, and we were rewarded with stunning sunset views later in the evening. This venue is pure magic, from the breathtaking views of the mountains, the blueberry bushes leading up to the ceremony space, the blooming flowers, and of course the incredible inside of the house. Coco and Emerson could not possibly have been more helpful, knowledgeable, or kind during our planning process. We received so many glowing compliments about them and the venue all night and have gotten so many calls and texts since then about how incredible the space was. All of the design and florals and setup went off without a single hitch, and their hard work allowed me and my husband and our families to enjoy our day. “Absolutely stunning venue. From the moment I found this venue, I was so excited. Patricia was so communicative and answered all of our questions. We even had the opportunity to view the venue, and well, it’s even more beautiful in person. The reception hall, the cabin itself, and the deck with a view, it’s all so amazing. My wedding itself turned out so wonderfully with all of my vendors. We did end up having our ceremony and reception outside on the deck, for more dancing room. We had 60 guests and it was perfectly spaced out and just wonderful. There is so much decor that Patricia allows you access to, and her website easily shows you a lot of it. I 1000% recommend this venue. We loved it and our guests loved it!”
