In the 1950s & 60s, The Bronx was home to an amazing photographer that captured weddings and family events. His name? Warren Meurer aka the “Silverfox” (due to his flowing silver and gray locks). Fast forward to the early 1990s, Warren’s grandson, John Salkowsky, decided to follow in his grandfather’s footsteps and open a wedding photography and video studio. When it came time to name this newly formed company, there was only ONE name it could possibly have – Silverfox Studios.

This genre of photography has many names: wedding photojournalism, documentary wedding photography and reportage wedding photography. My goal is to bring back to you images that you will feel. Images that might make you cry, or laugh out loud or just feel your day was worth ALL that effort. Here are some features of my approach: You’ll likely not notice I’m there. Many might even think I’m a guest with a camera. I won’t take over your day with setting up group shots or pulling you away for a setup. Everything I do is candid. I'm Alfa, a wedding, engagement, and portrait photographer in New Jersey and New York. Tyler’s documentary photography style is inspired by photo journalism and his editing embodies the tones, contrast and color familiar to analog film. Heather is our in-house professional photographer who has an artistic obsession with natural light. When she’s not wrangling your next of kin for formals by asserting her east coast kindness, you will probably find her in the woods, holding her hand in the air to catch a reflection of the sun’s rays. She has a knack for finding locations that make natural surroundings look like professional sets, placing her subjects in an ethereal glow that’s usually reserved for storybook endings. An experienced industry professional through-and-through, she navigates the timeline of the day with a caring, hospitable hand and a keen artistic eye.

Ever since I was a child, I've been passionate about arts and culture. Wedding photography fulfills my passion in various ways more than I would have ever imagined. I studied photography at U-Arts and PCAD, and have been photographing weddings for over 10 years, throughout which I've been developing my style of photo-journalism. I enjoy natural and simple moments. When I'm not photographing or editing, I love spending time with my family and exploring places. Most of the time you’ll find me strolling around the city with my son in search of exciting adventures.

When Andrew and Kathy were photojournalist their thief was story telling. As they got married and started a family, the focus shifted to their children and the couple used their creativity to tell a new story – first steps, trips to the park, birthdays. Soon, Andrew and Kathy began helping other couples tell their own stories, of engagements and weddings, babies and anniversaries. Those stories built the foundation of Yellow House Images. Today, Yellow House remains a family-run business but the family has grown.
