About Caitlin Cooper Photography

Caitlin Cooper Photography

honest, inventive, & carefree / a non-traditional documentary wedding photographer in brooklyn, ny

**VISIT MY WEBSITE FOR CURRENT PRICING + AVAILABILITY CALENDAR** I've been photographing weddings since 2012 and have documented everywhere from rugged Zion National Park and sunny Palm Springs, to lush woodsy summer camps in Oregon and rural farms throughout Minnesota + Iowa. I'm now focusing my time on weddings throughout NYC, upstate, and surrounding areas, but am always available to travel.

It's important to me that your wedding day doesn't feel like a photo shoot. I want you to feel comfortable and actually enjoy and experience the day, as I quietly flit around in the background documenting all of the sweet, silly, sad, sentimental, and strange moments, people, and details with the utmost care and creativity, all day long.

    an angel with a camera

Caitlin is a dream. From the time she arrived to the beginning moments of our wedding, Caitlin right away was comfortable with everyone. She brings an ease which allows people be calm and we honestly forgot she was there, snapping away. There were many moments where she would check in and make sure everyone was good, the energy was so sweet. We received our photos right when she said they would be done. The work Caitlin does captures the warmth, and light of a love event. My husband cried the first, second and third time we looked though the collection. We will treasure them forever. Highly, highly recommend her! 100%

    Underrated PDX Wedding Photographer

I can't say enough good things about Caitlin! My partner and I wanted more non-traditional portraiture for both our engagement photos and wedding and Caitlin just immediately understood the vibe we wanted. She's great at getting to know her clients and making you feel comfortable in front of the lens. Similarly, she just melts into the background during the wedding and captures everything you wanted and more, all without being front and center. You won't regret hiring her and I'd say book her while you still can, because she's only set to blow up more :)

I'm more than happy to answer any questions you may have and have a list of some of my most frequently asked questions on my website at https://www.caitlacoop.com/faqs/ -- if yours isn't listed, please don't hesitate to reach out!
Typically, couples book me about 6-18 months before their wedding date. I encourage you to reach out as soon as possible about my availability, even if you’re planning on a shorter time frame. Elopements, more intimate ceremonies, and engagement or portrait sessions are often booked within a few weeks or months of the date, and can take place on a weekend or weekday which allows for greater schedule flexibility.
One of my packages already includes a talented second photographer, but this can also be added to any of the other packages!
Absolutely. All final images will be edited for color, saturation, exposure, and sharpness in accordance with my style. I also offer retouching services like blemish removal and teeth whitening for an additional charge.
No, I prefer focusing on photography only, so you can get the best wedding pictures possible. I do have a few incredibly talented videographers I love to work with and am happy to recommend them!
My turnaround time varies by season and package size, but within a week of your wedding or portrait session I'll send along a selection of preview images. Typically you’ll be able to view your full gallery in about 4-12 weeks after your wedding or portrait session. You'll receive your images in a digital gallery where you can download, order prints, and share with your friends and family or other vendors.
You can expect about 75 to 100 images per hour of photography for weddings. Keep in mind this estimate varies depending on your wedding package, number of guests, venue type, and other factors. When we include a second photographer the number of images is often 100+ per hour.
I do! Just let me know if your venue requires a certificate of liability, and I’ll send that over to them.
In my 12 years of experience as a wedding photographer, I’ve never cancelled a booking. In the very rare event that I’m unable to photograph your wedding, I’ll make sure you’re covered by one of my colleagues or a contracted assistant. I’ll also provide you with a list of photographers from the many networking groups I’m in, so you can find the perfect replacement.
Yes! Since my first wedding in 2012 I’ve zipped across the country many, many times to photograph weddings. I’m based in NYC and most weddings that require air travel will include a flat travel fee of $1500, depending on the schedule of events. Local-ish NYC weddings that are 1+ hour driving may include a small travel fee to cover gas and/or lodgings.
I spend 90% of the wedding day working in a documentary style, so I try not to focus on replicating an inauthentic Instagram or Pinterest photo. I offer simple + natural direction when the moment calls for it, but we’re not gonna do a lot of awkward or stiff posing, because I want you to actually live out and experience this very special day while I do what I do best and snap away.
