Our founder, Alexandra, left her corporate 9–5 job in search of something more fulfilling. When she ‘stopped & smelled the roses’, she fell in love with flowers. As the daughter of a carpenter, she has always appreciated creating something beautiful with her own hands. She loves capturing each client's unique ideas in her custom designs, bringing their special day to life with her arrangements. Alexandra lives in Astoria with her husband, John, and her cat, Piper, and she never met a rosé she didn’t like.

In designing florals for weddings, from the bridal bouquet to ceremony and reception decor, our goal is to incorporate our unruly aesthetic in a way that's authentic to your vision. We'll work with you to assemble a mood board with distinct color palettes and design elements, ultimately creating an event that is uniquely yours.

A Lily Among Thorns is a floral design studio in Northern New Jersey. Isabel’s love for flowers stemmed from a young age, as she was often found picking wild flowers barefoot. After receiving her bachelor's degree in English Language Arts, her second love, she found that there was even more poetry to be found in the flowers she had always loved. Now, she works in wedding and event floral design with a limited amount of couples a year.
