“I was originally anti-hotel wedding. "How boring, how cookie cutter," I thought. Then I toured OPH on a whim once I realized I was priced out of my dream Boston venues - I was pleasantly surprised. Though renovations had not taken place yet, I could see what a historic, old-school Boston charm the place had. The pricing was also extremely reasonable by Boston standards (though I don't know how much they've changed since I booked in summer 2024) and included so much - dinner, open bar, cake, etc. I would be remiss if I didn't compliment Julie (who had since moved on) who really sealed the deal - her warm and friendly demeanor made it easy to imagine working with her. All of the other banquet and events staff I worked with (Latchman, Marshall, etc.) were equally lovely. OPH events staff really go above and beyond, they manage your event from start to finish, set up decor, and are super friendly and communicative. From what I understand, most venue coordinators are simply there to unlock the doors and make sure the food goes out, but the folks at OPH make it possible to have no or limited day-of coordination services from an outside vendor. The renovations have made this hotel and its event spaces even more beautiful, without over-modernizing. It still feels old-school, but just brighter and well-taken care of. The food was incredible (guests were raving), and while that wasn't a priority for me, it was a wonderful bonus. The city views from the ballroom are incredible. Only minor inconveniences to keep in mind: the hotel is OLD - so the freight elevator is small (some vendors had difficulty loading in/out), the wiring is finicky (the electricity in our suite went out a few times while getting ready, though it was restored quickly), and the fire codes are fairly strict (no taper candles, even with hurricane glasses). For me, these were hardly even issues, but it may be good to know. I can't say enough good things about OPH, I think it's a really underrated and lesser-known venue that people who want a downtown Boston wedding should consider!”

“I could not have dreamed of a better venue for our wedding than the Langham Hotel. Fabrina Guzman is so kind, professional, and truly a pleasure to work with. She is amazing at what she does and helped us plan to the very last detail. She constantly made herself available, checked in on planning progress, and ensured all our questions were answered. In the weeks leading up to our wedding date, she coordinated well with my other vendors and really help to alleviate stress by taking a lot off my plate. There was a chance of rain on our wedding day and the night before, she even organized getting us an umbrella that would look nice in photos and had it ready for us in our room. Her attention to detail and thoughtfulness is unmatched! The service at our reception was truly 5 star quality. My husband and I were so impressed with the food and beverage service that we are still talking about it weeks later! Many of our guests shared this with us as well. To top it off, the room where we stayed was beautiful and the staff even left a few surprises in our room which really made us feel special. We are so thrilled that we chose the Langham Hotel for our wedding and we can’t wait for many more stays with this exceptional group!”

“I cannot say enough good things about my event at Joe's Waterfront! I had my reception dinner in the Dockside Room and everything went so smoothly. I was a bit hesitant at first to book Joe's because I was worried the venue didn't match my style. The photos they have do not do this place justice! I'm so glad I gave it a chance and visited in person because the room is so cute and classy, especially with the plain white linens and brown chairs. At night, the candles really bring the place together for an intimate dinner. We brought a few bud vases and flowers for extra decor, but it looked good as is! Rachel was a great help leading up to the night. I had so many little questions and requests and she was able to help me navigate everything so smoothly. Day of, the staff was so attentive and kind. Everyone was such a pleasure to interact with! The food was amazing! Shrimp Scampi was the crowd favorite with the Pan-Seared Salmon as a close second, but you can't go wrong with any of the dishes. Bread and butter was also included and it was a pleasant surprise! Guests also loved the cocktails! We couldn't have asked for a better night :)”

“Before you read this lengthy review, the short answer is: YES, get married at the New England Aquarium! We started our search looking for venues and wanted something fun and unique. The Aquarium made it onto our list, and the prices were comparable to other venues—it wasn’t significantly more expensive than renting out a restaurant with food and drinks. We read every review possible before we had our first meeting and toured the venue. Our biggest concern was catering because there were some older reviews on The Knot about this being an issue. At our first meeting, not only was there a representative from the New England Aquarium, but also a representative from the catering company. This was definitely a green flag for us, and it sounds like the Aquarium took the older reviews seriously and transitioned to a new catering team. Throughout the planning process, the team was wonderful. They kept in touch via email, gave us clear deadlines, and answered all of our questions. We did have to get pre-approval for all of our centerpieces and anything else we were bringing into the Aquarium because of animal safety. This was not an issue for us and was a very straightforward process. A few months before the wedding, we also had our food and wine tasting. This was definitely one of the fun parts of the planning process because all we had to do was show up! We knew we wanted buffet stations instead of a plated dinner, so we told them which entrees we wanted to try. The Italian dishes were really great, along with all of the salads. We also had some suggestions for a customized Indian station, and the team took very detailed notes, which was a great sign that they were listening to what we wanted. Amanda Solomon was the person we worked with very closely as we got closer to our wedding date. The week before, she sent us encouraging messages and made sure everything was on track. On the day of the wedding, she and her team made sure the setup was done correctly and that everything was ready for us. We didn’t have a wedding ceremony at the Aquarium—just the reception. Cocktail hour was inside the Aquarium, while dinner and dancing were outside in the tent. Everyone absolutely raved about the venue! One thing we loved was that guests had options throughout the night. They could hang out in the tent and dance, go inside the Aquarium to see the animals, or walk along the harbor. It made the whole experience feel really unique and gave people plenty to do. People also said they really enjoyed the food, which was the only hesitation we had when touring potential venues. We were so happy that we decided to go with the Aquarium and would highly recommend this venue to anyone looking for something unique, fun, and memorable!”

“City Winery is as an awesome venue for a wedding. We were able to do a walk through the day before and bring items for set up the day before, which made our day of much easier. The City Winery team was amazing at doing all the set up. They are pros! From reception tables to ceremony chairs. Their sound system is amazing for a DJ and contributed to the reason that our dance floor was packed for three hours straight. Having a 180 person wedding was great for this venue, as we were able to use the dining area, bar area for cocktail hour, and concert venue for the reception. “We recently held our wedding ceremony and reception at the Hampshire House in Beacon Hill. Sydney was the Catering Sales Manager who coordinated our event. When we were looking for a venue for our wedding it was important to us that the space felt like it had lots of character and enchantment. I wanted my guests to feel like they were being transported to another time and place and have a wonderful experience through the visual presentation. Upon touring the Hampshire House, we immediately fell in love with the sophistication of the old Bostonian mansion, the library with its wooden shelves and gorgeous fireplace, the warm and rich colors of the space with its ornate décor and intimate charm. The location is fantastic with the Boston Public Garden directly across the street which made for magical photos with the fall foliage. Hampshire House evoked the exact whimsical and romantic feeling that we were looking for. Sydney and her team worked diligently with us from the first steps of planning through scheduling, menu selection, rentals and coordination of vendor logistics with load in and out, etc. Sydney offered great insight and experience into the planning process and was there to make sure our big day was everything we could have dreamt of. I felt that the Hampshire House team thought of every detail to make us feel special and as for day of logistics, I was so pleased to find that they took care of essentially everything leaving no added stress to our day. They were very communicative and accommodating to our requests and even held on to some items for us that had been forgotten after the reception until we were able to come back to pick them up. The food was incredible, my guests are still raving about the decadent flavors and beautiful presentation of every item on the menu. The Hampshire House is a top notch venue with an incredible customer experience, do yourself a favor and book your wedding or special event with them!”

“The Banks was the perfect choice for our small wedding. From the very first conversation, the team was kind, responsive, and detail-oriented. They genuinely cared about making our day special - And the food was incredible! (This is the main reason we chose a restaurant as our venue!) We chose the Fireplace Room and it was cozy and perfect for our group. We used the same space for both the ceremony and dinner, and it was great because it made everything so easy for us and our guests. Food wise, they had a great variety and even accommodated several dietary preferences without missing a beat. If you’re looking for a venue that’s intimate, stress-free, and serves amazing food, I can’t recommend The Banks enough. They truly helped make our wedding unforgettable.”

“We are so happy to have had our wedding reception at Joes. Both of us decided to get married at BPL and wanted a reception in walking distance. Joes was the perfect brunch solution! We opted to have brunch and spent a few hours in the wine room to have the best early reception in where we decided was the heart of Boston for us as a couple. After a short period of tasting food, deciding on drink options, and bringing in details for the table scape it was perfect! They even took our wedding cake the day before for us so we can have it ready for the day of! (And we hope they enjoyed the leftovers because we bought a big enough cake for all of the staff to have some too!) Truthfully everyone at joes was incredibly kind and wonderful. We appreciated how they worked with our team to make sure it was a seamless event for us!”

“We had our wedding at The Lenox Hotel on October 18, 2025, and I can honestly say it was the most magical day we could have ever imagined — all thanks to Katie Hellman and the incredible Lenox team. From the very beginning, Katie made the entire planning process feel so seamless and stress-free. She is truly exceptional at what she does — organized, patient, and unbelievably kind. You can tell instantly that she genuinely loves her job and cares deeply about each couple she works with. Katie guided us through every step with warmth and professionalism, answering every question (and there were many!) with enthusiasm and attention to detail. She went above and beyond to make sure our vision came to life perfectly — from the flow of the day to the timing of every little detail. The staff at The Lenox were equally amazing — friendly, attentive, and made our guests feel so well taken care of throughout the entire weekend. We also had our engagement photos taken at The Lenox, which made everything feel so full circle. The timeless charm of the hotel, the beautiful architecture, and the warm, welcoming atmosphere created the perfect backdrop — both for that special moment and again on our wedding day. It’s such a meaningful place to us now, and we’ll always cherish the memories we’ve made there. Our wedding day itself was absolutely flawless. Everything ran so smoothly that we were able to be completely present and just soak in every moment. It truly felt effortless, and that’s entirely due to Katie and the Lenox team’s incredible coordination and care. It was a day we wish we could relive over and over again, and we’ll forever be grateful to Katie and everyone at The Lenox for making our dream wedding a reality. If you’re considering The Lenox for your wedding — do it. You’ll be in the best hands imaginable.”

“We had such a fantastic time hosting our wedding at the Multicultural Arts Center! We absolutely fell in love with it when we went for a tour, and the wedding day couldn't have been better. Taylor and the other venue staff were so helpful throughout the planning process and answered about a million questions for us. We had the wedding ceremony in the courtyard, cocktail hour in the art gallery, and dinner and dancing in the ballroom, and each space was so beautiful. It was wonderful to be able to show our guests a historic part of Cambridge and support a local arts nonprofit for our big day.”

“The Colonnade was our venue for our September 2025 wedding reception. The entire team was so attentive, responsive, adaptable, and friendly - from the planning process, to our check-in experience, to the servers and bartenders in the Huntington ballroom throughout the event. Our hotel block was easy to plan and all our guests really enjoyed their stays, commenting how everything was top-notch. I cannot give enough thanks to Geena, she was with us every step of the way and helped us navigate planning such a large and meaningful event. She ensured every detail was remembered, was so attentive throughout the year leading up to the big day, and was a true joy to work with - for us and our team of vendors. She helped us and all of our guests feel welcome the entire weekend. Wedding planning is a big task to take on but it was great to not have to worry about many details because I knew I could count on Geena! Chef Nick was wonderful to work with from presenting our tasting and sharing stories behind his delicious recipes, allowing us to use the Rooftop Pool for our first look photos, working with us to customize our menu and dessert table, and stopping by during our meal to make sure everything was how we wanted and more. The food and service was simply outstanding and the Huntington Ballroom was a beautiful and elegant space. I cannot recommend hosting your wedding at The Colonnade more - the level of care we received from the initial inquiry to the day we checked out was unmatched.”

Built in 1887 and a historic Boston landmark, the venue is named after Captain S. Dillon, who was stationed here from 1920-1950. Like its namesake, Dillon's is known for its warm hospitality, friendly staff, and spirited nightlife. • Space for a large guest list
  • Provides catering services

Venue considerations

“We hosted a rehearsal dinner and welcome party at Dillon’s in August. The location was great and the back bar was well sized for our group (20 for dinner and 80 for the party). The events coordinator worked with us to pick a menu and iron out logistics (mostly how to transition from dinner to party, and how much food to order, etc.), and was very transparent on pricing. All in all, the food and drinks were excellent and the atmosphere was lively – exactly what we wanted!”

“I cannot thank the Hyatt Regency Boston Harbor enough for everything they did to help make our wedding the most magical experience of our lives. I could not have picked a venue that better reflected me and my husband. We live 15 minutes away from the Hyatt by the water and it perfectly reflects the mix of coastal and city vibes that we love so much. Leading up to the wedding we would go to the Hyatt's restaurant regularly so we could become familiarized with the venue and just enjoy the stunning scenery. We will continue to always do that and will be reminded of our incredible wedding day there, and at this point the Hyatt feels like a 2nd home to us. The staff members were so professional and helpful the weekend of the wedding and truly throughout the whole year planning process, especially Joan and Kim who were our main contacts. They were extremely responsive and any roadblock we may have run into they addressed immediately and were so accommodating. On the big day itself we had so many people come up to us saying it was one of the most beautiful weddings they've ever been to, with the most spectacular views. The sunset was unreal, and I highly recommend getting the raw bar which just added to the ambiance during cocktail hour as well! We had a 3 event weekend with a welcome hour the night before, the wedding itself, and then the farewell brunch and it all went off without a hitch. People could not get over the location, views, and overall aesthetic and loved the hotel rooms as well. For our rehearsal dinner in Seaport we were able to go right in the backyard of the hotel and take the Boston Water taxi to and from the dinner which was a major benefit and highlight of the weekend! Then when we got back to the hotel, the welcome hour was all set up and ready for us to have Hors d'oeuvres and a full bar for the remainder of our guests who arrived at the hotel the night before the wedding! We hired a guitarist/vocalist to perform at the welcome hour and the venue space on the 2nd floor veranda was perfect for the event and a huge hit! Another big highlight outside of the wedding itself was getting ready day-of in the Junior Suite. My bridesmaids and the Moms were so comfortable and had a blast getting ready throughout the day in a gorgeous space overlooking the city. We had breakfast and lunch brought into the suite for all the girls and it was delicious. Even the guys had their own private space to get ready as well in a big conference room which was perfect for them. Overall the getting ready experience, the events surrounding the wedding, and the wedding itself was everything we could have dreamed of and I'm so grateful to the Hyatt. We also got so many Hyatt points by having our wedding there that our entire Hawaii honeymoon stay at the Grand Hyatt Kauai ended up being covered by those points! It was an incredible benefit and really a cherry on top of our dream coastal/city wedding. We would recommend to anyone to have their wedding at the Hyatt Regency Boston Harbor :)”

“We had our wedding at Woods Hill Pier 4 last weekend and it was the most amazing experience. I wouldn’t change anything. Everything, from food & drinks, to the staff, logistics, and organization, was perfectly executed. I had being hoping our wedding felt like a really nice dinner party and that was exactly what WHP4 provided. From even the first time I reached out to inquire, the staff was attentive, organized, and generous. Working with the team to organize the menu and drinks was easy and fun. Many of our guests said it was the best food they had ever had at a wedding. I have celiac and the staff made sure we had lots of options to accommodate myself and other guests. We even had a gluten free wedding cake that was some of the best cake we’ve ever had. No one believed that it was GF. We had been hoping for our ceremony & cocktail hour to be outside but had to do it all inside due to the weather. The staff was able to ensure there was no bottle neck at the bar, caviar cart, or raw bar. Our guests didn’t even realize that we had been planning to do it outside. Everything was seamless. The whole night was incredibly magical. We are so grateful for everything that Emily, Courtney, and the team did for us.”

“We cannot recommend Pagu highly enough for your wedding or event. From the very first email, they were unlike any of the venues we had reached out to. Overall, Pagu is flexible, which not only made wedding planning MUCH less stressful, but it made our wedding personal to us. Every time we had a question, they had an answer and a solution. You’re not messing around with rentals for plates, chairs, tables, linens or tons of decor. The space is beautiful and already functions so well as a restaurant, allowing you to just be their guest on your wedding day. The FOOD! Multiple guests came up to us and said it was the best wedding food they had ever had. Everything was hot, fresh, aesthetically plated and delicious. The family style sharing was relaxed, fun and nobody had to wait in line. The cake was so light and beautifully decorated. Day-of, what really stood out was the exceptional service and kindness we received from the entire team at Pagu. Everyone who works there was so positive, accommodating, and thoughtful. When I was “hiding” before the ceremony, the team delivered an entire tea/coffee service with some of the food to make sure I got something to eat! When we got back to our hotel, we found a portion of each dish in our fridge, just because they heard we hadn’t finished our second course or dessert while we were socializing. It was above and beyond thoughtful! Beyond taking extremely good care of us, all of our guests commented that it was one of the most relaxing weddings because the Pagu team thought of everything. At most weddings, there’s not a server checking in with you about your allergies, restrictions, and if you would like a drink. Since Pagu is a restaurant, you get outstanding restaurant-quality service. They even made a last minute, individual substitution for a new dietary restriction on the spot, and allowed that guest to enjoy the food, too! Another huge bonus was there was almost no bar line, since they’re used to making drinks for this many people! Other highlights of our experience include doing the cocktail creation session with Jimmy. We aren’t big drinkers, so we almost didn’t do this, but we are so glad we did - it was a blast, and the guests loved the personal cocktails. We highly recommend it! The space is gorgeous, the people are a dream, and the food was outstanding. Amanda (the venue coordinator/manager) was so easy to work with and on top of everything. Even our very traditional families (who were very skeptical when we said we were getting married at a restaurant) said afterwards it was one of the best weddings they’d been to. About wedding venues in Brighton, MA

Massachusetts offers an unparalleled backdrop for your wedding day with historic mansions in Boston's Beacon Hill, lighthouse-dotted shores of Cape Cod and rustic barns nestled in Western Massachusetts' Berkshire mountains.
