Sylvanside Farm was our first and only venue visit for our daughter’s wedding. The beautiful grounds and historical buildings on the farm made it an easy decision for us all. The owners, Terri and Jeff, have restored their property with utmost respect to its historical charm. Having on site lodging allowed both families to spend quality time together and hosting the rehearsal dinner on site made for an all around relaxing weekend. The curated list of preferred vendors, which Sylvanside provides, was very helpful and each vendor that we selected from their list was top notch. Terri and Jeff were very accommodating and responsive throughout the planning process and I highly recommend their venue for your special day.

Milton Ridge was an incredible place to get married! The beauty of the venue and the inclusive wedding options (i.e. catering, DJ, etc.) made this the absolute perfect place to say, "I do!" The getting ready suites were superb & made the day of preparation before the ceremony seamless. The chapel was so beautiful and such a great little spot off the side of 355. Our guests still comment on the simplicity of how we decorated the chapel, and how beautiful the white walls and natural light streaming in were during the ceremony. I was not sure how we'd get group photos on the property... and our photographers were able to use the beautiful stone and green areas within the venue to capture the most beautiful photos of the bride, groom and the wedding party! Guests are still RAVING about how convenient it was to walk up a few stairs to the cocktail hour AND into the reception. They marveled at the ease... park your car, attend the ceremony and then stay and party all night long until it's time to leave! The reception hall was beautiful; the buffet food was to die for; and Meghan and Brandi ensured that EVERY detail of our wedding day was accounted for, seamless and flowing without any hitch! I cannot recommend Milton Ridge enough! Thank you for making our wedding day the most memorable and BEST day of our lives! We owe it to this team, this venue and their support with planning our wedding every step of the way!

AMAZING! Just amazing job done by Colt and his team. I was panicking when I got to the venue because hair and makeup ran an hour over, he assured me we were fine and we’d have plenty of time. He kept us on schedule for the ceremony and reception and just was there every second. Once we got into the reception he brought my husband and I ice packs and put them in the back of our shirt/dress. He made sure we got food, drinks, etc. Colt is amazing. The venue is BEAUTIFUL! Everyone told me how amazing the venue was and the food was so good. The cake was absolutely amazing. The DJ was amazing! We had the best time. I can’t recommend Jordan Springs Estate enough. You won’t be disappointed.

When I first arrived on the property to look at it, it was breathtaking so beautiful and so well kept, and obviously Lauren and Kara were so kind and sweet and so attentive to every single one of my requests and details. Fast-forward to wedding weekend, I had Kara and Lauren on speed dial if I needed anything and they were so helpful for any tiny request. I needed for my wedding party and family. The property is absolutely stunning. My wedding party and I stayed in the farmhouse the entire weekend from rehearsal dinner to a brunch on that Sunday and my friends, and I had the time of our lives. It was so accommodating to have family come from out of state. Be able to stay on the property in a nearby Airbnb that houses 20 people! I wasn’t worried about hotels, driving and transporting people or potentially having them drinking and driving. It was so nice to just be there the entire time. My friends and family have said that it was one of the best weddings that they have ever been to and I can concur that was the best wedding ever. I cannot recommend this place enough if you live in Maryland or nearby or somewhere on the East Coast or looking to do a destination wedding. This is your place to do it!!! I wish I could relive my wedding weekend. It was so magical and perfect and I could not have asked for anything more. Thank you Comus farms!

The ballroom was perfect for the reception and the outdoor patio was beautiful for the ceremony. Everything was exactly how we had imagined it. The planning process went smoothly because we utilized a lot of The Manors preferred vendors. All of our vendors were incredible and knew the space well which was a huge plus. Kristin our day of/month of planner with the venue did an excellent job answering all of the questions that came up and was very honest about how some things would work on the day which was much appreciated. Kristin also ensured that the day itself went very smoothly. Thank you so much for making our vision come true!

They were always flexible and quick to respond to any questions and emails. They were always super helpful and knowledgeable. The venue itself is also beautiful and very spacious. The bridal and groom suite had so much room to get ready in and the grooms suite even has a pool table! All of our guests said this was one of the best wedding venues they have seen. The manor house is on the other side of the country club so it felt like its own venue and separate. The food is also amazing and great quality! All our guests were very impressed with all the food and said it was the best wedding food they have had! We had everything from hors d'oeuvres to late night snacks (definitely get the pizza!!). I can’t say enough good things about Glen Ellen Farm! The property is BEAUTIFUL and was so perfect in every way. The grounds are meticulously maintained, the house is beautiful, and Debbie is amazing. She answered all of my questions and you can tell she is truly passionate about what she does. The tent, tables, and chairs were included which was a HUGE bonus for us. We ended up putting the sides of the tent down due to wind. Don’t know what we would have done if that wasn’t an option. Our guests loved the venue almost as much as we did. Thank you Debbie and your team for a perfect day!

We were happy to keep our decor minimal and let the mansion’s beauty shine, and we got so many compliments on the venue’s set up of having the dance space (Main Hall) separated from the dinner seating (tent). We also loved Woodend’s gorgeous property, which really shined for our late October wedding. Would fully recommend considering Woodend for your wedding - plenty of parking, beautiful space, great team, and your venue fee goes to a great charitable cause.

  • Large venue, not ideal for small guest lists

We got married in Spring 2025 at The View at Bluemont (TVB) and could not have been happier with our experience. Like most people we thought the pictures of the venue were beautiful, and it was even better in person. TVB was the first (and only) venue we visited in our venue shopping. We had our tour with Bryan and you immediately got the sense of someone with a lot of integrity but also professional and knew exactly what he was doing. He was open and transparent about the packages and pricing, and there weren’t any surprises or unexpected expenses. One of the nice things about TVB is its Bring Your Own Alcohol policy. For our wedding of 200 people, we probably saved about 4k-5k. From our brief experience looking at prices for other venues, TVB was competitive especially for the quality and how easy the planning process was. We only had to focus on the fun things like the DJ, tasting the food, and picking out the layout/colors. We were set up with Nicole as our wedding coordinator, and we feel like Nicole was made for this. Just amazing. In the weeks and months leading up to the wedding, friends would ask if we were starting to get stressed, and we’d look at each other and shrug, and say everything seemed to be going along smoothly. Nicole was working behind the scenes though with all our vendors and making sure they were on schedule and taken care of. My uncle - the officiant - had done hundreds of weddings and said Nicole was the most delightful person he’s ever worked with. Even when our breezy (I.e., windy) day knocked over our personal decor or we were having family shenanigans, Nicole (and her partner, Sam) were always level-headed, gracious, and kept the show moving along. At one point, she gave her earpiece to the groom so he could talk to the bride before we had our first look. It was a really fun moment. We could go on and on about how organized and detail-oriented she is, but there’s not enough room here. Just a genuinely amazing person, and we love her. A couple other points we loved about our experience: - We rented the lodge for two nights and the manor for the night of the wedding, and one of our favorite moments was hanging out in the groom’s suite with our bridal party after the wedding ended. - Dede and her catering team were awesome. Weeks after the wedding, co-workers were still commenting about how amazing everything tasted but also how knowledgeable every server and bartender was about the drinks and food (including the recipes and ingredients). Just a really professional and pleasant team. We were bust dancing all night, and Dede packed our cake so we could eat it for a midnight snack -The TVB team set out two plates of food for us in the groom’s suite so we could eat and have a private moment together after the ceremony (and during dinner). The chef also came out and spoke to our parents and welcomed them. There were a million other small gestures, courtesies, and accommodations by the staff from top to bottom. For this review, we really thought hard about whether we would have changed anything or had constructive feedback. But there wasn’t - we would’ve done it exactly the same way again. It is a high-quality, professional team and production with one of the most beautiful venues in Virginia. We’re eternally grateful to the team for making our experience so fun and memorable.

The Whittemore House

Washington, DC
  • Up to 200 guests

The Whittemore House is one of Washington’s most historic and elegant mansions. Designed as a private residence between 1892 and 1894 by architect Harvey Page for opera singer Sarah Adams Whittemore, the mansion is conveniently located in Dupont Circle. The immense charm of the irregularly shaped exterior is handsomely reflected in the interior room arrangement and open connecting spaces, making it an ideal gathering space for your next special event. The Woman’s National Democratic Club has occupied the mansion since 1927. The Whittemore House was listed on the National Register of Historical Places in 1973 and was granted museum status in 2000. Today, we celebrate this distinguished history and tradition by maintaining a noted collection of antiques, art, and political memorabilia.

I have worked with Lyn Stout for close to 10 years now, and professionalism, caring about the clients, and her knowledge of the catering and events industry is 2nd to none. We are lucky to have her as a friend, client, and supporter of Special Events Lyn has taken a leading role in the DC Event Coalition to have a voice for support to the struggling venues, restaurants, and gig workers who are being crushed by this pandemic. She does this a=out of kindness
