About this venue
The Whittemore House is one of Washington’s most historic and elegant mansions. Designed as a private residence between 1892 and 1894 by architect Harvey Page for opera singer Sarah Adams Whittemore, the mansion is conveniently located in Dupont Circle. The immense charm of the irregularly shaped exterior is handsomely reflected in the interior room arrangement and open connecting spaces, making it an ideal gathering space for your next special event. The Woman’s National Democratic Club has occupied the mansion since 1927. The Whittemore House was listed on the National Register of Historical Places in 1973 and was granted museum status in 2000. Today, we celebrate this distinguished history and tradition by maintaining a noted collection of antiques, art, and political memorabilia.

A large, beautiful space right in the heart of DC.
The house team was very easy to work with and accustomed to the needs of video crews (our need). The overall space is large, well-maintained and offers multiple rooms with different looks and sizes, all with a classical, mansion home esthetic.

I have worked with Lyn Stout for close to 10 years now, and professionalism, caring about the clients, and her knowledge of the catering and events industry is 2nd to none. We are lucky to have her as a friend, client, and supporter of Special Events Lyn has taken a leading role in the DC Event Coalition to have a voice for support to the struggling venues, restaurants, and gig workers who are being crushed by this pandemic. She does this a=out of kindness
