About Corner Slice Weddings

Finley Bernsen

Owner/Videographer

Corner Slice Weddings is your neighborhood spot for analog wedding videography in NYC and beyond. I shoot exclusively on Super 8 film - the real deal, no digital tricks. Why film? Because your wedding video should feel like those warm, fuzzy old family movies you love. I take a fly-on-the-wall approach: nothing staged, nothing forced. Just you, your people, and your day unfolding naturally on real film. Every wedding gets the Corner Slice treatment: shot on Super 8, served fresh.

I shoot exclusively on Super 8 film. Not digital with filters - actual analog film with that warm, grainy, nostalgic aesthetic you can't fake. While most videographers are chasing the hyper-polished look, I'm bringing back the timeless feel of vintage home movies. My fly-on-the-wall documentary style means no awkward posing or staged moments. Just honest storytelling on real film that feels like a memory, not a production.

A Super Gay Wedding on Super 8 Film :)

My husband and I planned a very colorful wedding (both physically with the decorations and spiritually with all our queer compadres), and we wanted our wedding video to really capture the vibrancy of it all. When I came across Corner Slice and watched some clips of Finley's past work, I knew we had to look no further! Admittedly, I knew very little about Super 8 and shooting on film in general, but I immediately knew that it was something special, as the style and mood of the footage really stood out against all the other videos I had been seeing. I think the best part about Finley's shooting style overall is that he does a great job at capturing the day in a way that feels true to the energy and *vibes* of the wedding - not in a staged way, but quite the opposite. He filmed moments that felt so genuine and true to what the experience of being there on the day felt like, so our wedding film really feels like a magical little time capsule that we'll get to revisit for years to come!

    Real Moments

I have endless things to say about how special my wedding video is, but something that truly stands out is how REAL it is. It's somewhat ironic when you think about how an older, analog format like Super 8 - with all its (beautiful) grain and "fuzziness" - can somehow capture images that feel far more authentic than the most high-quality 4K digital cameras ever could. Super 8 strips away the artificialness of that ultra-sharp digital look, and what you end up with is something that feels more like a real memory that you're able to actually watch back with your own eyes. And while the film itself does a great job at creating that look and feel, what matters just as much is the person capturing those moments - and Finley is THE person that you want doing it! An incredible experience all around!

Thank you so much Kareen! You and Justin chose such an amazing venue (and I was pleasantly surprised to learn that there are some incredible vineyards so close to NYC!). It was such a blast working with you, and an honor to be able to capture your day on Super 8!

    Film is back baby!

I knew I wanted to have a videographer for our day, but did not want the overly polished and crisp look that modern wedding videos tend to have. As a (very) amateur photographer myself, I've always loved shooting on film when i'm able to and had the idea to look into some options for capturing my wedding on film. I came across Corner Slice Wedding's and after hopping on a call with Finley he made the decision very easy! He was so great to work with and we loved his unobtrusive style of shooting on the day which meant we weren't running around with him doing some cheesy staged moments - instead he was capturing all these great candid shots of us and the guests, which felt much more authentic and true to the spirit of the wedding as a whole. Cannot recommend him enough! And the actual wedding film was so beyond our expectations - I think I watched it on repeat at least 10 times when we got it...

Goes without saying, but I couldn't agree more - film is most certainly back! Thank you for trusting me to capture your day on the best format in the world, and for throwing an absolute banger of a classic NYC wedding!

    Pure nostalgia!!

Finley was such a dream to work with! Calm, cool, and collected. The super 8 wedding video we received was so beautiful and timeless. I couldn’t have been happier with our choice to go with Corner Slice!!

Super 8 is analog film, the same format home movies were shot on starting in the 1960s. I shoot your wedding on real film, not a digital camera made to look like film. It gives you a warm, grainy, nostalgic look that's hard to fake digitally, and it holds up in a way a video file doesn't. It's a physical artifact of your day, not just a link that could someday break.
Yes. 35mm film photography is available as an add-on (and is also included with The Whole Pie). Need more time on the day? Additional coverage is $425/hour.
That depends on your day. The Corner Slice (6 hours) usually covers ceremony through key reception moments. The House Special (8 hours) or The Whole Pie (10 hours) give more breathing room for getting-ready and a full reception.
I stay unobtrusive. No big rig, no constant direction. Because film is expensive per second, I'm intentional about what I shoot rather than filming everything, which tends to mean less of a "camera in your face" feeling than a full digital video setup.
Film has to be processed and scanned after the wedding before I can edit, so delivery isn't instant the way a digital video can be. Most films are delivered within 5 to 6 weeks.
Digital delivery is standard with every package. If you'd like the actual physical film reel your wedding was shot on, it's available as an add-on for $100. A physical reel gives you something a link or hard drive can't: a real, tangible object from your wedding day that doesn't depend on a cloud account or a drive staying intact. It's the same reason people choose Super 8 in the first place, just carried one step further.
Yes. Corner Slice Weddings carries business liability insurance and can provide a certificate of insurance (COI) to your venue if needed.
This hasn't happened on any wedding I've shot. Super 8 is an older format and more delicate than digital, so I take that seriously: cameras are serviced regularly to keep them in top operating condition, and every roll is handled and stored carefully from the moment it's shot to the moment it reaches the lab. In the unlikely event a roll were ever affected by a technical or lab issue, I'd tell you right away and work with you directly on making it right, which could include a partial refund for the affected coverage or additional complimentary coverage at a future date.
