About Kyle Carnes Photography
Kyle Carnes
Hi, I’m Kyle. I’m Northwest born, Portland based, and like to think that I have pines trees sprouting from my skin and sun-soaked glacial runoff coursing through my veins. Aside from photographing weddings, I enjoy strenuous hikes with a view as much as indie flicks, comic books, carving powdery slopes, rock climbing, and Trail Blazers games. I like to share these details because I strongly believe that connecting with the couples I collaborate with is integral to the creative process of photographing a wedding. A strong connection will result in the best images possible.
I’ve photographed couples all over the west coast and beyond, as far flung as Thailand, and regardless of origin or wedding destination, I like to spend quality time with the couples I collaborate with so that we can get to know each other, ideally over a hot cup of tea, coffee or a cold pint of beer. When it comes to the day of your wedding, it’s my hope that you’ll feel like you’re spending time getting photographed by a friend rather than just any random photographer. Best for couples who opt to skip getting ready photos and prefer documentation of portraits, ceremony and the major events of the reception with an hour or two of dancing. 6 hours are included for a relaxed schedule with built-in buffers that minimizes stress and maximizes time spent with friends and family. Time can be added or subtracted @ $300 an hour. An album, engagement, and/or second photographer are available as add-ons.

Beautiful shots
We had an amazing experience with Kyle and our photographs are absolutely amazing. We had a tough lighting situation as it was raining so family pics were in the church. He handled this with ease and made sure we have amazing pictures equal to our amazing day.

We reached out to Kyle after he did such a great job with our friends’ wedding photos a couple years ago. When we contacted him, he was very responsive. At our first meeting, he was enthusiastic, organized, and asked all kinds of questions to better understand our vision. The day of the ceremony, he helped us add structure to our pre-ceremony process by nailing down clear portrait timelines for each of us. He has an upbeat and easy-going attitude, which helped both of us feel comfortable while posing for portraits. And further, he clearly has a great eye and improvises well, because he was able to incorporate what might have otherwise looked like a mundane neighborhood setting into beautifully lit, unique photos. Kyle took all kinds of creative, moment-catching candid shots during our ceremony and reception that we couldn’t be happier with. When we showed our wedding photos to friends and family afterwards, they consistently expressed surprise and delight at how Kyle was able to capture so many nuanced moments without being intrusive. TL;DR: We love all of our wedding photos and are so grateful to Kyle for sharing his talents with us! If you’re looking for someone who is detail-oriented and ready to celebrate with you, we highly recommend Kyle!
