About Captured By Alyssa

Alyssa

Wedding & Portrait Photographer

I’m Alyssa! My job is to capture the intimacy and beauty of love in all its forms, which basically means it's the coolest job. Telling real stories in beautiful ways is my jam! That is how I became a wedding and portrait photographer. I also happen to be a lover of both dogs and baked goods and I love to see the world. As an artist, I am drawn to rich, bold images. I love to play with light, and moreover I love to play, period. I catch your most captivating and authentic images by working from a place of joy and genuine happiness in what I do.

Amazing Photographer - We Love Her!

Running a historic site with acres of gardens often makes you nervous that a vendor will come in and trample on flowers or not respect the property. Enter Alyssa...she could not be more professional and respectful of our site. That aside, she is an AMAZING photographer. I love to showcase her photos on our site, social media, you name it. She captures so much emotion on wedding day and her editing style is true to color, which is super important when showing photos to potential couples. Her photos make you almost feel like you were there. I couldn't recommend her more!

I started taking pictures when I went to Europe for a month in high school. Shortly thereafter I began taking portraits of people, and my first professional photography job was actually taking production photos for a theater. I started shooting weddings in 2014 and wedding photography has been my full time job since early 2017!
I shoot with two Nikon D750s and a variety of top of the line Nikon lenses. I have a full on and off camera lighting set, and will use whatever options work best for your venue! I also carry with me an assortment of "emergency" items, such as clear umbrellas and snacks..I always have snacks ;)
I would recommend you book asap! The dates fill up fast. Most people book about 9-16 months prior to their wedding date.
All taxes are already included in the Collection prices.
For weddings local to the NYC metro area or Maryland (I work out of both places), there is hardly ever a fee! If your venue is pretty far from where I live, I will charge a flat fee based on mileage and if I need lodging. This is all dependent on where your venue is in proximity to where I live.
Oh yes! I LOVE to travel and photograph as many different places as I can. Let's chat about your destination!
That's okay! We can add or subtract and make any other necessary adjustments before your final payment is due.
I do not limit the number of photos you receive, so I won't cap it! I go through and take out any duplicate photos and any that didn't turn out well. Other than that, you'll get to see the full range, and it normally ends up being about 50-100 per hour, depending on what's going on at any given time.
Let me let you in on a secret- you're not alone!! The best thing you can do is be open and willing to try! I'll give you all kinds of prompts that will make you feel like you're just spending some fun time together vs. just posing for photos. We'll be moving around, you guys will be chatting with each other and laughing together, and it won't be nearly as bad as you think it'll be!
There are a couple of things that factor into this. If getting ready pictures are important to you and you both are getting ready at the same time, then you should have a second photographer! Multiple angles for big moments throughout the day is another plus. The second photographer is also a built in back up for me. But, I shoot solo often and am perfectly comfortable doing so!
I've found that having two photographers for your entire reception lends itself to a lot of duplicate photos, so I have them stay for 6 hours in order to keep the cost of the package a little lower. The 6 hours tends to carry us from getting ready to cocktail hour or first dance depending on what your timeline looks like.
Don't let this worry you! Whatever photographer you hire should be someone who can take beautiful photos no matter what the circumstance. That being said, I always do a lot fo research before shooting at a new venue and often take some time to visit and explore ahead of time!
