“We recently had our wedding at The Barn at Black Walnut Farm, and it was extraordinary. From the moment we first toured the venue, we knew it was the perfect place for us. Jim and Sarah have poured so much heart and craftsmanship into restoring this historic barn, preserving its rustic charm while modernizing it in all the right places.

The property itself is breathtaking, with thoughtfully designed spaces that make you feel completely immersed in nature. The rose garden and front yard provided great photo opportunities, not just for us but for all our guests.
Our ceremony in the forest site was an absolute dream. The setting created a truly magical, intimate atmosphere. It was the most picturesque backdrop for such a meaningful moment, and we can’t imagine having said our vows anywhere else.
The true gem of the property, however, is the historic house. Staying in this house was an unforgettable experience, and my family is already looking forward to returning for years to come.
The Barn at Black Walnut Farm is more than just a venue—it’s an experience and a place where memories are made. Jim and Sarah are not just venue owners; they are passionate, thoughtful hosts who truly care about every couple’s special day. We feel so honored to have celebrated our wedding here and cannot recommend it highly enough.”

Venue considerations

  • Not for you if you are looking for something nontraditional
“We recently got married in Peekskill and stayed at the Abbey and had our rehearsal dinner, welcome drinks, and morning after brunch there. The building and the grounds are beautiful. The food was very good and they were able to accommodate our dietary restrictions and guests needs. The rooms were nice, spacious, and very clean. Everyone had positive things to say about the events held at the space. There are two things that bring down this review. The first is that the event/sales staff is very hard to get in touch with. We left countless voicemails and sent many emails that all went unanswered. The turnover of the staff was quite high, and we never knew who we were going to be speaking with. The second major issue was that there is only one elevator and no freight elevator. The morning of our wedding the elevator was out of service. There are only 2 stories to the hotel so that is not the issue, but the wheelchair accessible room, which a guest of ours who is in a wheelchair was given, was on the second floor. Thankfully the elevator was fixed and he was able to make it to our wedding, but in the event of an emergency, we don’t know what would have happened.”

“We started the wedding planning process by starting to look at venues. Falkirk was the first venue we had toured and immediately fell in love with it. From seeing the golf course, the waterfall, the gazebo, and incredible views, it was breathtaking and we imagined ourselves getting married there immediately. We met with Andrea during our tour, and had the pleasure of getting to work with her throughout our planning process, and was absolutely incredible on the day of our wedding! She made herself available to answer our (many) questions, going over timelines, and ensuring that our vision and dreams for the day came true. They had it all, from phenomenal staff to incredible food, not to mention the stunning views. We could not have asked for better! They truly make you feel like a VIP throughout the entire wedding weekend. Andrea was an absolute gem to work with, and made sure everything we dreamed of came true. And when we got the opportunity to have fireworks during our reception?! To this day, we have friends and family still talking about the firework show. Andrea worked seamlessly with other vendors and the firework staff to make sure it was a surprise show that no one would forget. Our wedding day was a dream, and we are so glad we had it at the Falkirk Estate and Country Club. We are so incredibly happy we got the pleasure to work with them, and would recommend any couples that are starting the wedding planning process, to reach out to them.”

“Blooming Hill Farm was the first and only venue we looked at for our wedding, and we couldn't have made a better choice. We had the pleasure of working with Caitlin and Kate throughout our planning process, and both were absolutely incredible to work with. They made our wedding planning go so smoothly, and we were amazed by the attention to detail they brought to all our planning calls. They were able to provide so much guidance and had such great recommendations for local vendors. When the weather forecast started looking rainy the week of, Kate was so comforting - walking us through the rain plan, keeping us in the loop on all rain plan decisions, and keeping everyone's spirits high. Even with the rain on our wedding day, the venue was somehow even more beautiful. Getting to hear the birds chirping and rain falling throughout the ceremony was absolute magic, and the staff was so quick with umbrellas on hand that no one had to worry about getting wet. The food and drinks were absolutely incredible - all our guests agreed that it was the best meal they've ever had at a wedding, and people were able to try everything since they offer family style dinners. We did bring a few rentals in, and Kate coordinated with those vendors as well as our band and photographer so that we hardly had any logistics to worry about during the wedding weekend. We truly cannot say enough positive things about BHF, Kate, and the whole team - and we're so happy that we can keep coming back for meals at the restaurant!!”

“We recently had our wedding at Hudson Loft (OnTheMarc) and it was the best party we’ve ever attended! Every element of the planning process was thoughtful and Sam, the Senior Event Producer we worked with was incredibly detail-oriented, organized, and on top of it all! We felt cared for from the very beginning stages and that care continued through the wedding with every staff member who helped to make the day run so smoothly. We can’t say enough about the FOOD. It was hard to narrow down to 8 (!!) passed appetizers because they were all so delicious. The presentation is exceptional at OnThe Marc - every appetizer is truly bite-size and bursting with flavor. It’s like having the tiniest versions of all of your favorite foods from lobster rolls and tacos to sliders, chicken and waffles, spicy tuna on crispy rice and beyond. Everything felt both elevated and also grounded in quality ingredients and thoughtful execution. For the main course, we did 2 stations and were thrilled with the results. Throughout the night, family and friends commented on how amazing every bite was and how wonderfully varied the choices were. We highly recommend this special event space for couples seeking a gorgeous open layout in Westchester that can truly be a canvas for any design and flowers. The location, situated right opposite the MetroNorth train station in Irvington, was perfect for friends and family traveling from the city. The windows are a showstopper, looking out onto the Hudson and filling the room with a warm glow well into the evening. We loved that we didn’t have to rent any furniture. There is plenty of seating and many furniture options for display. The long tables were a great way to promote conversation during cocktail hour. We also loved the lighting! The exposed bulb fixtures give an appealing industrial vibe. We did our ceremony at Hudson Loft and the table set-up was seamless during the cocktail hour. Our Event Captain, Teresa, was thorough, diligent, and accessible the entire time. She made it all feel so easy and joyful! OnTheMarc will make you feel completely at ease with every detail. We are so grateful to have chosen this special place for our wedding!”

“We could not be more happy with how our wedding turned out at Mamaroneck Beach and Yacht Club. There are so many things that make this venue special. The service, the scenery, the food, and the run of show were all spectacular. The service. We received attentive and detailed service throughout the entire planning process. The director of events, Bob, answered all of our emails promptly and with detail. He is a wonderful man who goes above and beyond to make sure that we were thoroughly satisfied and feeling well taken care of. Bob was so fantastic at helping us come up with solutions to challenges that emerged at different stages of the planning process, and we couldn’t have pulled off the party we wanted without his patience, thoughtfulness, and support. On the day of, we were made to feel so special by all the staff at MBYC. We were given a personal “bridal attendant” who followed us around all day and attended to any needs we had that came up- like holding my bouquet during photos, getting us fresh drinks, grabbing some items from the bridal suite. All of our guests were telling us how impressed they were by the level of service and consideration they received from all the staff. Everyone was kind, professional, and in great spirits. The scenery. The venue space at MB&YC is truly RIGHT on the water! It is so incredibly gorgeous. The cocktail hour is on a beautiful deck over the water. The reception is in a ballroom with giant windows facing the water. The space does not need much more decoration to feel special. It is elegant and special, yet practical, home-y, and not at all stuffy. The food. We were so impressed by the food. Typically wedding food is basic and mass produced, but every dish at MB&YC felt special. We had so many friends after the wedding recounting their favorite bites throughout the night. The mac and cheese bites as well as the New York Strip Steak were definitely crowd pleasers. Not only was the food plentiful, but it was all also incredibly tasty. Bob and his staff also made sure to take care of our guests with dietary restrictions. Everyone ate well at our wedding. The run of show. Bob and his team were working very hard the evening of our wedding to ensure the schedule was kept and everything went as planned. Leading up to the event, Bob heard all of our concerns and desires, and he was able to execute a fabulous event the evening of our wedding. I was never once concerned that something was missing or forgotten, I trusted Bob and I knew he was going to make sure we had a perfect night. Overall, definitely book your wedding here at MB&YC! We can’t speak highly enough about our special day here!”

“The duo at the barn made our wedding day truly special. From their fun, detailed, and easy communication style to the amazing value in being the least expensive we saw, they went above and beyond to create a unique and bespoke experience for us. They let us celebrate in their private home, which felt like a privilege, and made us feel so special in this one-of-a-kind space. The hands-on, personalized attention we received throughout the planning process and on our wedding day was unmatched. We couldn't have asked for a better venue to host our unforgettable day.”

“I can't thank the team at Mountain Creek enough for being such a huge part of why our day was so perfect. The planning team of Colleen, Jessica, and Alyssa were wonderful. They were so easy to work with, answered questions before you thought to ask them, and when you did have your own questions always took the time to lay everything out. From start to finish we had a great experience with them. The day of team was amazing and truly went above and beyond. Suzy and Diona were the best to work with. I want to give a shout out to Diona in particular. She was my bridal attendant but did so much more. She also was the full day of coordinator. She was super prepared, had everything you could possibly need, oversaw everything, and truly ensured the day went perfectly. She was incredible. The staff all know exactly what they're doing, and have everything down pat. The venue itself gets truly transformed for weddings. The mountain top view for the ceremony was breathtaking and our guests will not stop talking about it, and the gondola ride each way. We also got so many compliments on the food. I absolutely recommend having a wedding here. Mountain Creek made our whole day so incredibly special and I can't thank them enough. Best day ever!”

“So many great things to say about this venue! *Gorgeous venue & perfect location* Every other venue we looked at had these ugly-colored, outdated carpets covering the entire reception hall. What's unique to Greentree is the beautiful large tiles and chandeliers. Not only is it breathtaking to look at, but all of your photos will sparkle and it makes for a perfect blank palette for any color scheme! The rooms are spacious enough for all of your needs, yet so intimate. Since everything is in one area, the guests are always together and it never feels like people are separated. There was plenty of room for all of our vendors to set up successfully. The location is perfect - on the water with beautiful views. We had guests from all over so New Rochelle was the perfect middle ground! Not too far from the city folks but also not too far from those living further north. *All-inclusive is the way to go* We booked Greentree the moment we got home from our initial appointment! From day 1, Kristina was BEYOND helpful with everything from wedding details, to suggestions & words of advice. We planned and pulled off an incredible, full-on wedding in only 3 months and I don't think we could have done it without Greentree. Everyone was shocked! She made everything so easy for us and low-stress. This venue has a great reputation and whenever I mentioned it, everyone was so excited and surprised I was able to book in such short timing. There are SO many benefits to an all-inclusive venue. As a bride there are a million and one things to worry about - but this venue takes care of it all. No need to worry about booking all of the details like catering and a cake decorator. Didn't need a wedding planner either because of their amazing team! The cake the baker made was STUNNING. The cocktail hour had a huge, incredible variety of food and guests were shocked to find out we still had all of our actual meal courses to follow! They were so flexible and accommodated us bringing our own cultural traditional cookies to put out as well. *Super attentive & flexible* Bradford is AMAZING and helped us with our final decisions and decor! We also received a day-of bridal attendant and maitre d' who were beyond accommodating. My bridal attendant was with me the entire night fixing my dress, holding my bouquet, asking me if I would like a drink, and helping me with anything I needed. Our maitre d' Gonzalo is a GEM. I somehow spilled an absurd amount of chocolate from the fountain smack in the middle of my dress. Gonzalo sat with me for minutes miraculously scrubbing it off until it was gone. It was an impossible task but he did not give up until the problem was fixed. He also checked in with us repeatedly throughout the night, guided us to where we had to go at certain times, and made sure we were taken care of. As all weddings, unforeseen things happen. This team is super quick on their feet! Our wedding was in October and was blue skies just about every day of the month. Of course, our weekend there was an impromptu Nor'easter. I'll admit I was bummed as I was looking forward to the gorgeous outdoor setting and photos on the water. However, when I saw how beautiful everything was inside, I was moved to tears. For a venue to successfully pull off a change like that last minute and do such a beautiful job that I was so happy & grateful to have the wedding inside, speaks volumes. It was a perfect day and I wish we could do it all over again. Thank you all SO much!!!”

“I can’t say enough about this place. I work a job that requires a lot of my time and I had no planner. All that to say I was a little disorganized and delayed on documents and other things requested of me. (Not to mention I live over an hour away with no car) They handled everything with ease. They put my favors together for me. The chef added in signature dishes that I requested for cocktail hour. When my number didn’t hit the minimum, they added more food stations for my guests to enjoy. I promise I have no idea how the day went so smooth because everything flowed so smooth. My guests still talk about how amazing the experience was. They said they’ve never seen so much food offered and it felt like 4 events in 1. Social hour: (Light beverages and crudités pre ceremony) Ceremony Cocktail hour And I opted in for the after party where they added in a special birthday cake. I can be a little all over the place but this place got me completely together! Don’t hesitate…. Schedule a tour and book this venue.”

“We had a vision, and Clinton/West Song Farm had all of the answers! We’re musicians and Deadheads, so the #1 VALUE of choosing this venue was the live band they put together for us and played the most epic setlist of NON- traditional wedding songs. This was a rock and roll wedding — every detail branded as a music festival wedding called JAMMIN ON THE FARM. The fates had it where we had PERFECT sunny skies and 70 degrees in mid September, painting the most beautiful landscape when guests arrived and took a hayride or leisurely walk to the ceremony under a massive willow tree. I walked down the grassy, dramatic aisle with my mom, and my twin brothers led the funniest, most joyful ceremony. The band played during cocktail hour which I called “Shakedown Street”, with a Dead-inspired VW van photo booth bus, flower crowns, custom merch, farm-grown flower decor, tap truck for drinks and more. Dinner and dessert were served in 2 food trucks with 10 options to choose from - I cannot overstate how much guests LOVED this format. After dinner we brought a cannabis bar, bonfire and dessert to keep the party going. Clinton invited me on stage to sing my favorite Taylor Swift song (Anti-Hero) and if you can’t already tell, this was the BEST wedding ever ever ever ever. Clinton made it all possible, and while it costs a lot to build your dream wedding, West Song Farm made it ABSOLUTELY WORTH IT!!!!! Do not miss out on this amazing amazing amazing venue and team.”

“We had our wedding at Kindred Creeks at the beginning of May 2022. I have so many great things to say about this place! First off, Jill was extraordinary, caring, attentive and so helpful from start to finish. She was able to work within our budget while keeping our dream wedding a reality. She had rain plans, sunny day plans, plans for more or less people and was thorough throughout. Her father, Gerry, who lives in the farm came out the day before and day of the wedding to make sure we were taken care of and that anything we needed would be done. And the tent staff was kind, courteous and officiant! The grounds itself were gorgeous! We were the first to use the airstream bridal suite which got so many compliments and great photos. They also redid the bridge across the creek for the wedding party to walk over during the ceremony. I fell in love with the green barn and even though it needs to come down soon, they held off construction so we could take pictures in front of it. We got married right where the two creeks meet which was so beautiful. All our guest had nothing be great things to say and we are beyond happy with the experience. If you are thinking of taking a tour of the farm, don’t hesitate! You will fall in love just like we did!”

Why is New York the Perfect Wedding Destination?

New York gives you incredible variety for your special day, from Manhattan's iconic skyline to the charming countryside of Upstate. For couples prioritizing accessibility 620 Loft & Garden offers customizable settings that can work with various needs though you'll want to confirm specific features during your planning. Always ask about specific accommodations like wheelchair ramps elevators and accessible restrooms when you're researching potential venues to ensure everyone can fully participate in your celebration.

How Can Guests Participate Remotely at New York Weddings?

Historic Manhattan venues can make remote guests feel included by incorporating virtual tours during ceremony breaks while Midtown Loft & Terrace supports interactive platforms that go beyond simple passive streaming. You might consider venues in Chelsea or SoHo that can enhance those famous skyline views with live streaming that includes interactive elements like virtual photobooths live chats or virtual toasts. These features help create genuine engagement for participants joining your special day from afar.
