Nu Standard was founded by accomplished multi-instrumentalist Derrick Hicks. DJ Wes a.k.a. Wesley Flint has been entertaining people all his life. From a very young age, Wesley has enjoyed the thrill of being on the big stage. Entertaining others is what he loves to do. Some of Wesley’s earliest memories of this ‘entertainment bug’ occured during the early 70’s while he was growing up in Florida. He would pull open the front curtains of his home and put on skits while the neighborhood kids would watch from the front yard. Please don’t think that this means Wesley has to be the center of attention (wink, wink). This really is not the case.

Dr. Congcong Bi has demonstrated her exceptional musical talent through triumphs in competitions and academic endeavors alike, culminating in the attainment of a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Southern Mississippi. Presently, she imparts her expertise as an educator at both the University of North Georgia and Gwinnett Technical College, all the while actively pursuing research initiatives. Notably, her focus includes a significant project exploring the impact of performance engagement on cancer patients. These achievements underscore Dr. Bi's remarkable synthesis of musical excellence and scholarly dedication.

Richmond Punch is a violin virtuoso who delivers a riveting, dynamic, explosive, and powerful performance! A native of Dallas, Texas, Richmond graduated from the top-rated Arts Magnet Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts. He honed his craft and earned a Bachelor’s Degree from the famous Juilliard School of Music in New York and received a Master’s Degree from the prestigious Yale University. He specializes in live violin music for all types of special events including corporate, concerts, festivals, weddings and worship.

Bassist and bandleader Josh Levine got his start in the professional music business busking in SoHo with The Flying Neutrinos in ’93, so when NYC shut down in Spring of 2020, he capitalized on his experience as a street performer and began to play regularly in the parks of NYC with percussionist and sonero, Jainardo Batista, renowned flutist Itai Kriss making his debut on Cuban trés guitar, and María Raquel on vocals and minor percussion. Before long, the quartet had generated some buzz, several venues hired them to play outdoors and pianist Gabriel Chakarji and Grammy winning flutist and vocalist Jeremy Bosch became staples of the group.

Unfaded Brass Band is comprised of 10 members from New Orleans and surrounding areas that have assembled together to incorporate elements of hip-hop, jazz, soul, and pop music and added the brass band framework to it. . The band has members from Mississippi, but most were born and raised in New Orleans. After being displaced by Hurricane Katrina in 2005, members of the band fled to Dallas and planted their roots within the city. In 2014, our founder, Jermaine Devezin saw the need to bring the brass band culture to the Dallas area based on the growing number of fellow New Orleanians who along with the band now calls Dallas home. sband/

Featuring accordion, violin and female vocals, the group has performed around the globe.
