About Music and Lights Entertainment

Neil Ponthier

Owner | Lead DJ

Neil Ponthier was fifteen when he got his start behind the booth in 2009, filling in last minute for a middle school dance when the scheduled DJ couldn't make it. Armed with his dad's speakers and an iPod, he played the set, and never stopped. Raylynn came into the picture too, together since May 2011, married March 2026. She cheered him on at his very first events and has been his biggest supporter since. In 2012, that passion became Music and Lights Entertainment, growing from one guy and a laptop into a full team offering DJ, lighting, and AV services across New Orleans

Music & Lights has earned a reputation as one of the most trustworthy and reliable entertainment companies in New Orleans. We've been keeping celebrations moving since 2012, growing from one guy with a laptop into a full team of DJ, lighting, and AV professionals. Because we're a team, not just one person, your event is always backed up. If life throws a curveball at your assigned DJ, another one from our crew steps in seamlessly, so the party never misses a beat. We treat every event, whether it's a wedding or school dance, with the same care and professionalism. That range means we know how to read any room and keep things moving.

Top notch pro equipment and professionalism! Being a professional Dj for 38 years, this was my first time hiring a sound company in another state to provide a total Dj package to include lighting & setup! Flying into NOLA from DC to Dj wedding gig, my anxiety was on 100 😀, however upon arrival to the venue, Neil quickly put me at ease.. To be honest Music and Lights Entertainment exceeded my expectations ! Local or traveling DJs seeking high quality sound & lights, I highly recommend Neil and his company Music and Lights Entertainment ! Dj Love (DMV)

I traveled from Dallas to DJ a wedding in New Orleans, and Music and Lights Entertainment provided all of the DJ equipment for me. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Neil and Nick were outstanding! They arrived early, had everything set up and ready to go, and made the entire process completely seamless. They provided excellent audio and lighting equipment that looked amazing and performed flawlessly. Everything was truly plug-and-play, allowing me to focus on the event instead of worrying about the gear. I received so many compliments throughout the night on how great the sound system and lighting looked and sounded. Their professionalism, reliability, and attention to detail were exceptional from start to finish. If you’re looking for high-quality DJ equipment rentals and a team you can count on, I highly recommend Music and Lights Entertainment. Thank you, Neil and Nick, for making my New Orleans event a success!
