Aloha! I'm Roman. I've been living on the magical island of O'ahu since I came to UH Manoa in 2009 for my Economics Degree. I got involved with the University radio station (90.1 FM), started doing live events, and really loved showing off my rare music finds. Nothing beats the feeling of rocking a live crowd for track after track, especially after the long pause in events! DJing is all I do for "work", and I love it! Each wedding or event I play is full of different people and different ages from all over the world, and they all have differing tastes in music- blending so many different genres and styles of music is such a fun challenge!

“DJ Roman Candles was excellent! He pulled off a set that was beyond our wildest dreams. We had a brief phone meeting a week before the wedding about how we wanted the vibe to be and he pulled it off perfectly. Us and our guests were blown away by his performance. After the wedding, all of our guests were raving how awesome he was! He blended all of our requested genres. The transitions between genres and between songs were spot on! He had all of our guests up and dancing. Our wedding coordinator said he was very easy to work and communicate with. He was very organized and had all the equipment we needed. He also took care of the emcee duties and did an awesome job! He had an app we could use to upload all of our song requests. We found it very useful for organizing the songs we wanted played at each part of the night. He totally killed it and we could not imagine anyone doing better. 10/10. We can’t stop watching videos of how fun the night went! Totally recommend DJ Roman Candles for your wedding or any other events!!!”

“If you're looking for a DJ who goes above and beyond, Mike is your guy. From start to finish, he was the definition of professional. Responsive, organized, and genuinely invested in making the day perfect. Communication was excellent throughout the entire planning process. Mike made sure to walk through the venue with us ahead of time so that every logistical detail was locked in well before the big day. He handled all the traditional wedding DJ responsibilities flawlessly, but he also embraced our more unique requests without hesitation. We asked him to play video game lo-fi music during cocktail hour and dinner, and he absolutely nailed it. We're also huge fans of metal and rock, and we were initially worried that might not translate well to a wedding dance floor. He was able to mix those songs in live and keep the energy high all night. My husband is Dominican and I am from New England, and therefore we were looking for a bilingual band that could play a very wide range of music - from American wedding classics, to Pop, to Reggaeton, to Merengue, to Bachata — and a group that could MC the evening in Spanish and English, and bring the energy to keep the party going. We went with Hook Club’s 7 piece DJ Band, and they were above and beyond fantastic. They curated a setlist that somehow, despite the wide range of music, flowed together and was cohesive. I can’t express enough how talented they are vocally, instrumentally, professionally, and as performers. The dance floor was absolutely lit; even my brother who was on crutches and had a torn labrum couldn’t stay away. It makes me tear up thinking about how much energy, positivity, and happiness they brought to our night — they will always have a special place in our hearts. They are also true professionals - the planning process was easy, they were prompt in all communication, and on the day of they handled venue-related hiccups with grace. They were the first vendor to arrive to ensure a thorough set up, and the last to leave. They are truly such a special, one of a kind group, and I cannot recommend them enough. Of all the many decisions we made in planning our wedding, choosing THC was by far the best decision of them all. Although our wedding was back in August; our friends and family are still talking about The Hook Club, exlusively referring to them as “ the best wedding band they have ever heard before”. “My husband and I got married this past August and I’ve been meaning to write this review for a while but we had a big move and time got away from us. As a wedding vendor myself I know how important it is to have a DJ that can balance fun and professionalism, but Joey Chang did just that. He was punctual, detail oriented, and our guest couldn’t stop talking about how good he was, both as a musician and as a DJ. I really appreciated the time and effort he took to insure that no details were missed. We booked a lighting package as well and our ceremony space looked even better than I could have imagined. Joey made sure the ceremony audio was perfect. Everyone could hear the whole ceremony which was really important to us. And when he played cello for our processional and recessional, the sound really filled the space and sounded beautiful. During our cocktail hour he played cello and did some beatboxing, we were so impressed and our guests loved it as well, they were talking about how good he was and how they could hardly believe it was live music. After dinner the dance floor was full the whole night. Even months later we still have people telling us how much fun they had dancing, how great our playlist was, and how much they liked our DJ. If you want your wedding to be classy, romantic, a total rager, and go off without a hitch, I would highly recommend hiring Cello Joe!”

“Grooveline was honestly one of the best decisions we made for our wedding. They flew to Taiwan on extremely short notice and still handled everything with total class and professionalism. In terms of value for money, their initial proposal was outside our budget, but they were very willing to work with us and adjust. At the same time, we were blessed that a friend stepped in to cover a large portion of the cost - the timing of everything truly felt like God put it together. Without Grooveline’s flexibility and our friend’s support, this wouldn’t have been possible. We brought 9 people total (7 musicians, a manager, and a sound engineer), and let's just say - they made the night truly unforgettable for all who attended. Traditional weddings in Taiwan are usually quiet and pretty passive, but once Grooveline started playing, guests of all ages rushed to the dance floor. Many said it was the most fun wedding they had ever attended. Even with an open bar, alcohol consumption was low — to us - this just means people were really having the good time sober and really enjoying the high energy and joy the band brought :) We truly feel blessed and gratetul to have the chance to work with them and yes - would absolutely recommend them!”

I was lucky enough to experience JukeBox firsthand at my brother-in-law’s wedding, and I am not exaggerating when I say the band was THE highlight of the night. On the wedding day, it was seamless. They are a well oiled machine and they operate so flawlessly and are truly such a driving force to the party!! During the planning process, David was always responsive and attentive, and everything felt completely tailored to us. He even professionally cut and edited our first dance and father-daughter dance songs, and they turned out perfectly. Our dance floor was packed all night long & guests are still talking about how amazing the band was just like they still talk about them from my brother-in-law’s wedding.
