Aloha! I'm Roman. I've been living on the magical island of O'ahu since I came to UH Manoa in 2009 for my Economics Degree. I got involved with the University radio station (90.1 FM), started doing live events, and really loved showing off my rare music finds. Nothing beats the feeling of rocking a live crowd for track after track, especially after the long pause in events! DJing is all I do for "work", and I love it! Each wedding or event I play is full of different people and different ages from all over the world, and they all have differing tastes in music- blending so many different genres and styles of music is such a fun challenge!

“DJ Roman Candles was excellent! He pulled off a set that was beyond our wildest dreams. We had a brief phone meeting a week before the wedding about how we wanted the vibe to be and he pulled it off perfectly. Us and our guests were blown away by his performance. After the wedding, all of our guests were raving how awesome he was! He blended all of our requested genres. The transitions between genres and between songs were spot on! He had all of our guests up and dancing. Our wedding coordinator said he was very easy to work and communicate with. He was very organized and had all the equipment we needed. He also took care of the emcee duties and did an awesome job! He had an app we could use to upload all of our song requests. We found it very useful for organizing the songs we wanted played at each part of the night. He totally killed it and we could not imagine anyone doing better. 10/10. We can’t stop watching videos of how fun the night went! Totally recommend DJ Roman Candles for your wedding or any other events!!!”

“From Above Entertainment provided both our DJ and photo booth for our wedding at The Charming Estate. I was a little nervous since we didn’t find out who our DJ would be until about 1 month out, but Julie did a wonderful job matching us up with DJ 720. We gave pretty minimal input for cocktail hour and reception music, and DJ 720 did a great job reading the room and transitioning between the ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner, and the open dance portion of the night. We had warned them that we probably didn’t have many guests who would be tearing up the dance floor, but our DJ was still able to keep the vibes high for people wanting to dance and people wanting to just sing along to the music. Guests also loved the Photo Booth that was set up and all of the fun props. The Photo Booth staff ended up making extra prints of all the pictures that husband and I were in. It was really nice of them to send us home with both those prints and all photos on a USB.”

“I would go as far to say my now husband and I have different music taste. We love hardcore music, but naturally, it wasn't entirely appropriate for our wedding reception. HOWEVER, working with Rob G was an absolute dream, and we were able to incorporate so many different styles of music into our night that everyone was able to have an amazing time. He seamlessly blended from our favorite hardcore bands like Every Time I Die all the way to Bad Bunny, and was even able to throw in a song created by one of our guests. He incorporated so many genres of music and was such an insanely positive energy of the evening. We had so many guests just flabbergasted at how awesome our DJ was, and we are now in process of looking for an excuse to hire him again. Cannot recommend Rob G from Second Song enough!!!!”

“If you're looking for a DJ who goes above and beyond, Mike is your guy. From start to finish, he was the definition of professional. Responsive, organized, and genuinely invested in making the day perfect. Communication was excellent throughout the entire planning process. Mike made sure to walk through the venue with us ahead of time so that every logistical detail was locked in well before the big day. He handled all the traditional wedding DJ responsibilities flawlessly, but he also embraced our more unique requests without hesitation. We asked him to play video game lo-fi music during cocktail hour and dinner, and he absolutely nailed it. We're also huge fans of metal and rock, and we were initially worried that might not translate well to a wedding dance floor. He was able to mix those songs in live and keep the energy high all night. “The Hook Club was by far the coolest musicians I was able to find in terms of having an NYC night out vibe, and not a typical "wedding" vibe. We had a bass and guitar duo for our cocktail hour. They were super nice and awesome musicians. It started raining an hour into our cocktails so we had to move inside, and the bassist switched to playing a piano so that we could continue the music inside. Everyone was so impressed by how multi-talented they were!! Loved them and wish we had them play music for more of our reception. She even recommended an amazing officiant to me when I was struggling to find one. The fact that she is well known also helps, as most vendors and venues love working with her.
