The Proper Way began when multi-instrumentalist singer-songwriters Shane Osguthorpe and Scott Rogers met while playing a local festival. They established themselves as The Proper Way in 2016, when a promoter invited them to come for a series of shows in Lake Tahoe. After touring nonstop for two years, the band joined forces with friend and fellow singer-songwriter Carrie Myers to release Ain't No Good Thing Ever Dies, a collection of songs by Bob Dylan and Tom Waits, in 2018. The musical connection with Myers was so obvious, and they had so much fun performing and recording as a trio, that Myers joined the band shortly afterwards.

I started my education as a professional harpist at Utah State University. In May of 2020 I graduated from Utah State University with a Bachelors in Music with emphasis in the harp. Playing the harp is a dream come true. I love to get my hands on a brand new piece and start studying it. The first wedding we ever played was our own! We are Ashlyn and Mason Buonocore: life-long musicians, total goofballs, and founders of The Wedding Band. When we got married in 2016, we asked Mason's high school band (and best friends) to play live music at our wedding. Ashlyn surprised Mason by singing "our" song, and Mason took a few turns behind the drums. Years later, we still had people saying it was the best dance party they'd ever been to.
