“We cannot recommend Black Walnut Farm enough—it was the perfect place for the wedding of our dreams! From the breathtaking forest ceremony site that felt like stepping into a fairytale, to the warm and vibrant barn that created the ideal setting for our reception and dance party, to the sprawling wildflower gardens that surrounded our golden cocktail hour — every part of the venue is magical. The venue owners, Sarah and Jim, were incredible to work with—so flexible and supportive in helping us create a wedding that truly reflected us. They not only encouraged our own ideas but also suggested thoughtful details we wouldn’t have considered on our own, making our day even more special. It felt like a true collaboration and both my wife and I felt understood by them in this partnership. What really stood out is how effortlessly beautiful and well-equipped the venue is. We only added some simple table flowers, and that was it! It’s truly a “ready-to-go” venue that makes wedding planning so much easier while still looking stunning. We’re already looking forward to attending more events at Black Walnut Farm so we can keep the connection to this incredible place. It’s not just a venue—it’s a place that feels alive with love and celebration. If you’re considering it for your wedding, stop searching—you’ve found your perfect spot!”

The Abbey Inn & Spa
Rating: 4.2 (5 reviews)
Peekskill, NY
  • Up to 130 guests
  • All-inclusive
  • Outdoor & indoor
  • Starts at $18,000

The chapel offers a unique venue for important occasions, and a peaceful English garden provides s gorgeous background for photos. Lovingly restored and meticulously designed, our hotel pays homage to its historic heritage while offering contemporary amenities and world-class service to each and every guest. All of us at The Abbey Inn and Spa are thrilled to be part of this exciting transformation, and we’re eager to share it with you.

Venue considerations

  • Not for you if you are looking for something nontraditional
“We recently got married in Peekskill and stayed at the Abbey and had our rehearsal dinner, welcome drinks, and morning after brunch there. The building and the grounds are beautiful. The food was very good and they were able to accommodate our dietary restrictions and guests needs. The rooms were nice, spacious, and very clean. Everyone had positive things to say about the events held at the space. There are two things that bring down this review. The first is that the event/sales staff is very hard to get in touch with. We left countless voicemails and sent many emails that all went unanswered. The turnover of the staff was quite high, and we never knew who we were going to be speaking with. The second major issue was that there is only one elevator and no freight elevator. The morning of our wedding the elevator was out of service. There are only 2 stories to the hotel so that is not the issue, but the wheelchair accessible room, which a guest of ours who is in a wheelchair was given, was on the second floor. Thankfully the elevator was fixed and he was able to make it to our wedding, but in the event of an emergency, we don’t know what would have happened.”

“Booking our wedding at The Westin Governor Morris was honestly one of the best decisions we made for our big day. We booked 18 months in advance and Christina was incredible to work with—she answered emails right away and we could stop by whenever we wanted to talk through details. Having everyone stay on property meant our guests felt like they were part of something special, and the ballroom itself was stunning with the perfect atmosphere for throwing a party! The food was absolutely incredible, and we loved being able to head straight to the hotel restaurant bar afterward to keep the party going. We did run into a small issue with the hotel rooms, but it was handled. If you're looking for a spacious venue with fantastic service and a seamless experience from start to finish, I'd recommend The Westin Governor Morris without hesitation.”

“We had our wedding on 6-6-26 at Magnolia and I can say it was an absolutely wonderful and unforgettable experience. Firstly, the venue is gorgeous. The wedding space overlooks the confluence of two streams so you hear the sound of babbling water all throughout the resort and it feels so unique and magical to do your vows in such a wonderful display of nature. Second, I must say that the staff went above and beyond to make our day perfect and our guests feel at home. Special shout out to Angela at the front desk who was so accommodating and friendly and all the service staff was kind and helpful. Like any Poconos day the weather can turn on a dime and it did for us going from clear to torrential downpour for cocktail hour but the staff pivoted perfectly and the pavilion kept everyone dry and happy. The rain did lead to a spectacular sunset and while I can't say Magnolia did it I can say that the resort was so beautiful it lead to some of the most spectacular pictures of the night and the resort makes an amazing backdrop. Also the food was incredible, we did both our rehearsal and reception and both nights everything was cooked perfectly (SO to Chef Tom). Finally I need to talk about their wedding coordinator Cheyenne. She goes above and beyond what I was expecting and is just the nicest person. We worked with her for almost 2 years and she always started every call catching up and she truly got to know us personally as we got to know her. Her vendor recommendations were fantastic and on the weekend of the wedding she was there to answer any question and solve any problem. She did this while 6 months pregnant by the way so she's able to handle anything no matter the situation. I can go on and on about how amazing this place is and say that it truly is a gem of venue in the Poconos and made our wedding magical.”

“My husband and I had truly had the wedding of our dreams at The Madison Hotel! From visiting the venue (which was my husband’s first choice) all the way to our special day, we received great customer service and guidance. Joseph Zimmerman was our sales associate, he gave us a great tour of the venue and kept us on track with deadlines. Having our guests be able to stay at the hotel was a great perk since my husband had a lot of family flying in. What sold us was the breathtaking Conservatory where we had our ceremony. Man, what a beautiful space! Our guests raved about cocktail hour and all of the food options that were available. Having our reception in the Grand Ballroom was perfect because we had plenty of room to dance! Jose Bonilla was our Maitre’D for the evening, and he provided constant attentiveness and hospitality from ceremony to reception! Even our getting ready suites had mirrors and chairs in our wedding colors. I truly appreciated the attention to detail! We would recommend the Madison Hotel to anyone looking to have a wedding without the stress of finding so many additional vendors. The Catering options are plentiful, the room blocking process is super easy and the beautiful spaces speak for themselves and don’t need much additional decorations (save on those florals!!) Thank you so much to the team at Madison Hotel for making our special day one to remember!! The Richmonds”

Our guests couldn’t stop raving about the venue, with many comparing it to something straight out of a Hallmark movie. The property is absolutely magical. The food, the ambiance, the cozy spaces throughout the property, and the beautifully appointed rooms all contribute to making this venue one-of-a-kind in the Catskills. The entire staff was amazing—everyone, from the wonderful kitchen team to the bartenders (shoutout to Kyle!), the front desk crew, and all the behind-the-scenes staff—went above and beyond to make our day special. A huge thank you to Emily & Will, who were absolute rockstars! They helped bring our vision to life with their organizational skills and attention to detail, guiding us every step of the way from the minute we booked to the day after the wedding. Everyone made sure that everything was perfect! We stumbled upon The Arnold House through Instagram in February 2024, and after visiting for lunch at the tavern the very next day, we were sold. “I genuinely don’t know where to begin when it comes to Jennifer Batinjane and the entire team at The Albion. They exceeded every expectation we had for our wedding, and I can confidently say my expectations were HIGH . I had such a specific vision for our wedding and cared about every little detail, especially how I wanted our guests to feel throughout the weekend. From the beginning, Jennifer completely understood that. Not once did she make me feel like an idea was too much, a request was too specific, or something couldn’t be done. I would come to her with one of my “okay, this might sound crazy, but…” ideas, and somehow her response was always, “Yes, let's do it”. And she always did. Jennifer was our Memory Maker/Event Stylist, but that title doesn’t begin to cover what she became to us. She remembered the tiniest details, anticipated things before I thought to ask, and genuinely cared about our wedding as if it were her own. By the time our wedding day arrived, I trusted her completely - which, as someone who is VERY Type A, detail-oriented and has a hard time giving up control, says everything. The Albion took care of our entire wedding weekend. Our room block continued to grow, we had family and friends coming and going, and I had individually personalized welcome boxes that needed to make it to the correct guests. Nothing was ever treated like an inconvenience. The front desk and hotel staff handled everything with so much care that I never had to worry. Our ceremony was at the Cathedral Basilica in Newark, so I always wondered how we could possibly follow something so grand and breathtaking. But walking into The Albion afterward and seeing our reception come to life was a moment I’ll never forget. Every detail had been thought about. Nothing was overlooked. It felt like the wedding I had pictured in my head for so long - but somehow, even better. But as beautiful as everything was, what stands out most is how the entire Albion team made us and our guests FEEL. Every employee made us feel like our wedding was the most important event they had ever hosted. Our families were taken care of, our guests were taken care of, and Robert and I were taken care of from beginning to end. Everyone was warm, attentive, gracious and genuinely excited for us. And our guests noticed. We heard over and over afterward not only how beautiful the wedding was, but how incredible the staff was and how seamless and special the entire experience felt. As a bride, there is truly no better compliment. I went into wedding planning with some wild ideas and probably a few expectations that could be considered unrealistic. Somehow, Jennifer and The Albion didn’t just meet them - they exceeded them. Jennifer, thank you for listening to every idea, entertaining every crazy request, caring about every tiny detail, and making Robert and me, our families, and our guests feel so special. I know there were probably a hundred things you handled behind the scenes that we never even knew about. There are plenty of beautiful wedding venues, but you cannot manufacture the way people make you feel. That is what makes The Albion so special. They didn’t just give us a beautiful wedding. They gave us an experience we and our guests will never forget. I would choose The Albion and Jennifer a thousand times over. They will forever hold such a special place in our hearts, and “thank you” will never feel like enough.”

“The first thing we noticed about the Grain House was how utterly charming it was, shortly followed by how organized the wedding team was. We fell in love with the cozy, historic space and felt so well taken care of by Lea, the sales manager, and John, our maître d. They were responsive and answered every one of our million (sometimes crazy) questions. We were in disbelief just how much we were getting for the price we were paying, and felt supported during the entire planning process. When the day came, everything went off without a hitch...the servers were wonderful, our guests GUSHED about the food and space, and John was a total champ...our photographer even noted how on top of everything he was! The BEAUTIFUL outdoor space in addition to the dining area made it feel secluded, and truly like a fairytale (tented outdoor dancefloor!!). We could hardly believe that the GIANT suite where we stayed that night was included in our package! Days later, our guests continue to tell us that our wedding was the best they have ever been to. Ultimately, our wedding was the best day of our lives so far, and a huge part of that is the lovely team at the Grain House!”

“We had the pleasure of having our daughter’s reception at the Inn. We were forced to relocate to their venue because of a gas leak at our original location. 5 hours before the wedding! The entire staff, especially Mary the manager and Matt the bartender went over and above to make sure our reception went well. Everyone enjoyed the beautiful grounds and venue space. If they can do what they did for us in 5 hours. I can only imagine what would have been with 5 months of planning! Thanks again for your attention to detail and hospitality, you saved the day….”

“Having a Celebration of Life was definitely more focused on the positives of a sad occasion but it's nonetheless stressful. You still have all of the responsibilities of the hostess and getting your relatives there on time and making decisions prior to the event. I can't thank the staff at the Benjamin enough for guiding me through the process and for handling everything when we got there. I really didn't feel like I had much to handle when we got there. We were able to decorate the way we wanted to and were provided with a tv to run a slide show. One more thing...the food was great!”

“I hosted my wedding at The Lofts at Prince Street and I had the most gorgeous time! I rented the rooftop for our ceremony and cocktail hour, and the penthouse top floor for our reception. From the start, Claudia was absolutely amazing to work with. She is confident, thoughtful, and kind. Throughout planning our wedding, Claudia was an excellent help. She was responsive, answering my questions thoughtfully and always very quickly. On our wedding day, I found her presence very calming and reassuring. The Lofts get many guests per week, but I felt like Claudia took the time to get to know me and my husband, and really made us feel special. Our wedding was about 25 people, and the space fit us perfectly. The rooftop gives you the money shot. Even our hardest to please guests complimented our venue multiple times. You get gorgeous, 360 views of the Manhattan skyline, but you are high above street level so excessive noise was not a problem. I talked through my vision with Claudia on our walkthrough, and her team took care of so much before I even arrived. The penthouse room is a blank canvas that you can decorate any way you wish. The exposed brick and clean walls are a really cool starting point, but I was absolutely blown away by how the room transformed into a better vision than I could have even imagined. There is a private suite in the back that we used to get ready in. It was very fun to take photos there and I felt safe tucked away before my guests arrived. The space is also very clean! Having a suite in the back allowed me to arrive early to the venue and get centered before the ceremony began. If you are not familiar with NYC, the Lofts are in a really fun location! You are central to many hotels and subway lines, so it’s easy to access. The venue is surrounded by cafes, green spaces, and restaurants. And you are a short walk from many bars if you want an after party. Even if your wedding is larger, I would highly recommend the Lofts for a shower or even an event. I am so thankful we opted for the Lofts at Prince Street, it was a really great choice!”
