“Let me start off by saying that I didn't think I "needed" a DJ for my wedding, so I didn't budget for one initially. It was about halfway through wedding planning that my now-husband and I decided we should invest in one, so it would be one less thing for us to have to do on our wedding day. Budget was super important to us when booking a DJ, but we also wanted someone who was experienced and knew what they were doing. The DJ Company of Virginia did not disappoint! Nikki and Devail helped me during the booking and planning process, and helped pick the right DJ to use for our venue. When planning, we were able to suggest a bunch of songs that both of us love and also got to make a list of any songs we didn't want to hear. Our guests were able to suggest songs on their own, and I gave those to the DJ beforehand (it was a question on our RSVP form). If you wanted your guests to suggest songs during the reception, I know they would be able to do that too! Jose was the DJ for our wedding and he was super friendly and easy to talk to! My husband and I did a "fake out" for our first dance, where we made it seem like we would do the standard slow dance, but then actually use a fun, upbeat song. Jose made sure he understood what we wanted and our guests LOVED it! Jose played so many songs that I like and love that I found myself on the dancefloor a bunch. I sure got in a workout! If you need a DJ in the Hampton Roads area, you should book the DJ Co. of VA. I wasn't sure we could afford a DJ for our wedding, but their prices were perfect for our needs! Our wedding DJ was Sean Markland and he was just phenomenal to work with. Prior to our wedding we had a lengthy call with Sean; my husband and I were very picky with our wedding playlist and had a rule of absolutely no traditional wedding reception songs or line-dances. We love electronic dance music (EDM) and wanted our wedding to be "festival/show vibes". We pretty much curated our own playlist of EDM, country, hip-hop, folk and I really wasn't sure how our guests would respond (and we really didn't care because it was our wedding), but the way Sean mixed and transitioned the songs and hyped up the dance floor kept the vibes going all night! We used Summit Events for our up lighting too - highly recommend as it was a great way to turn the room from a classy dinner reception to a dance party in one click! The sound quality was great for both speeches and music; we wanted to make sure guests could hear speeches clearly and we had no issues at all even though it was a large room. I also appreciated the Vibo app that we used to plan out our ceremony, entrances, first dances and our playlist for the night - it was a great tool that kept songs and notes in one place. We would definitely use Sean and Summit Events again and highly recommend them for the best night of your life!”

“We received lots of compliments about our wedding, but our DJ was hands down the most complimented part. Like by a lot. I remember someone said “Lily. Your DJ is 100 out of 10.” and our venue coordinator (who has seen a lot of weddings) was like “Seriously, where did you find this guy?” and said they need to add him to their list of recommended DJs. I also had multiple guests ask if he was single… From the ceremony music and microphones, to the cocktail hour musical ambiance, to the first dance and speeches, Obehi was locked in and working the room to make sure everything went smoothly and ensure everyone was having a great time. He had all kinds of fancy equipment and was there early with bells on to get it all set up. It was all seamless with zero hiccups. He was out on the dance floor hyping people up, dancing, and just giving 110% all night long. Obehi is one heck of a DJ. I saw family members who I haven’t seen crack a smile in a decade busting moves on the dance floor. Obehi gets the people going. There’s no doubt about that. That being said, he’s also a really lovely human and we loved having him there as a part of our wedding. You can tell he loves what he does and loves people. He was genuine, warm, and kind every step of the way. He met with us a few weeks before the wedding and made us feel like it was his life’s purpose to get every detail perfect for us. And he delivered 1000%. Best choice we made for our wedding. Worth every single penny!!!”
