“Wow! Our family had an absolutely fantastic experience working with the staff at Willowdale for our daughter‘s recent tea party bridal shower! Willowdale is a house /cottage in the woods with classic New England undertones mixed with a warm history! Willowdale provides the perfect spot for a celebration! We worked directly with Rachel prior to the event. She and her team exceeded our expectations, helping us design the space before guests arrived- executing every detail as we had envisioned it! Everyone raved about the mimosa station, the sun pouring into the conservatory, the buffet choices and of course the epic chocolate chip cookies. Yum! Rachel and her team kept us on schedule making the transitions seem effortless! From appetizers, to meal time, to bridal shower games, etc! No one wanted to leave. It was a cozy home like feeling. Thank you again to Rachel and The event team at Willowdale - I give them a 10 out of 10!”

“This venue is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen. We had a small wedding on the last Sunday of the off season so our reception was inside the house and it was amazing. Amy the coordinator is the absolute best and she helped us so much and was such a fantastic source of information and guidance. We would choose this venue over and over again just for her alone. The ceremony had also originally been planed for inside because April weather but it ended up being a beautiful day so they let us move the ceremony outside at the last minute which was wonderful and Amy and her team also completely set up and tore down all our decor. Also, the food is insanely good.”

Moraine Farm
Rating: 5.0 (1 review)
Beverly, MA
  • Up to 250 guests
  • Select services
  • Indoor & outdoor
  • Starts at $17,000

Originally designed in 1880, Moraine Farm has been hailed as "the finest existing example of Frederick Law Olmsted's approach to planning a country estate" by pre-eminent Olmsted scholar Charles E. Beveridge. Olmsted created lawns, hedges, rustic stone walls, and a magnificent meadow – and collaborated with Boston architects Peabody and Stearns to design a massive stone terrace facing the lake, extending the shingle-and-stone house into the landscape. The farm took its name from a low ridge of glacial debris, called a moraine, which Olmsted used to provide an elevated vantage point for the paths and carriage drives that looped through 75 acres of coniferous forest, passed lake and meadow views, and climbed to an overlook on the edge of the 40-acre farm.

“We just had our perfect wedding at Moraine Farm and it could not have been more perfect. I wish I could go back and re-live it over and over again! The coordinator, Laura, was awesome and all our guests are still talking about how beautiful of a venue it was. The incredible food was also a huge plus :) We will forever look back at our wedding and smile. Huge thank you to everyone at Moraine and Fireside Catering that pitched in to help out on our day!”

“We had the most incredible experience having our wedding at Long Hill. From the first communication, Helena was very responsive and easy to work with. We had toured the venue when it was covered in snow, yet we could still tell how special of a place it was. The day of the ceremony, everything looked better than we ever could have dreamed of. “Booking Hyla Brook Estate was a leap of faith since we reserved the venue while it was still under construction, but Kim's vision and professionalism made us confident in our decision from day one! Her communication style was efficient and thoughtful, answering our questions quickly while clearly thinking through every detail of our wedding day. Kim, the owner and our day-of coordinator, genuinely cared about making our celebration special...she even helped us recover when I accidentally booked the outdoor lights for the wrong year, turning a potential disaster into a non-issue. The venue itself is absolutely gorgeous, with an organized and detailed setup that showed how much thought went into every aspect of the space. Hiring a day-of coordinator was worth every penny, and having Kim in that role meant we got someone who knew the venue inside and out and was personally invested in our happiness. The venue itself is beautiful and unique, our guests had a great time. The prices are incredibly reasonable and we additionally received an off season discount. Their wedding packages include so much beyond the standard wedding packages including the use of the bridal suite, appetizers/champagne in the bridal suite on the wedding day, use of their (beautiful) centerpieces, a separate happy hour for the wedding party during photographs and much more. Yasmene went above and beyond on our wedding day- she even sewed my nephew's superhero mask when it broke. Many of our guests commented on how she was the best wedding coordinator they had ever seen. “We got married 9.13.15 at Sky Meadow. We booked the venue more than a year in advance (we just wanted to get it out of the way) and Lynn was amazing to work with during that entire time. She was super responsive, very professional, and all around joy to work with. And when it came to day of, our venue coordinator, Josh, was instrumental to making sure the day ran smoothly. He kept us on track and was very accommodating to all of our requests. The entire staff was amazing to work with and we can't have asked for better help during our wedding. And as for food, 10000/10, everyone was raving about it! We did the plated dinner and chose Prime Rib, Crab Stuffed Haddock, and the Risotto. As for appetizers we did sushi, antipasto display, meatballs, bacon wrapped scallops, lobster sliders, and beef wellington bites. Everyone said how there was so much food they were stuffed even before dinner. The food is definitely plentiful and your guests will be happy at the quality and amount. We did consumption bar as well and the line was never too long, they turned them out quickly (especially since they walked around with our signatures). They even include a cake of your choice (we chose Chickadee Hill Bakery - absolutely delicious) as part of your package which was really nice. We wholeheartedly believe this venue is the venue to have your wedding at!”

“Before you read this lengthy review, the short answer is: YES, get married at the New England Aquarium! We started our search looking for venues and wanted something fun and unique. The Aquarium made it onto our list, and the prices were comparable to other venues—it wasn’t significantly more expensive than renting out a restaurant with food and drinks. We read every review possible before we had our first meeting and toured the venue. Our biggest concern was catering because there were some older reviews on The Knot about this being an issue. At our first meeting, not only was there a representative from the New England Aquarium, but also a representative from the catering company. This was definitely a green flag for us, and it sounds like the Aquarium took the older reviews seriously and transitioned to a new catering team. Throughout the planning process, the team was wonderful. They kept in touch via email, gave us clear deadlines, and answered all of our questions. We did have to get pre-approval for all of our centerpieces and anything else we were bringing into the Aquarium because of animal safety. This was not an issue for us and was a very straightforward process. A few months before the wedding, we also had our food and wine tasting. This was definitely one of the fun parts of the planning process because all we had to do was show up! We knew we wanted buffet stations instead of a plated dinner, so we told them which entrees we wanted to try. The Italian dishes were really great, along with all of the salads. We also had some suggestions for a customized Indian station, and the team took very detailed notes, which was a great sign that they were listening to what we wanted. Amanda Solomon was the person we worked with very closely as we got closer to our wedding date. The week before, she sent us encouraging messages and made sure everything was on track. On the day of the wedding, she and her team made sure the setup was done correctly and that everything was ready for us. We didn’t have a wedding ceremony at the Aquarium—just the reception. Cocktail hour was inside the Aquarium, while dinner and dancing were outside in the tent. Everyone absolutely raved about the venue! One thing we loved was that guests had options throughout the night. They could hang out in the tent and dance, go inside the Aquarium to see the animals, or walk along the harbor. It made the whole experience feel really unique and gave people plenty to do. People also said they really enjoyed the food, which was the only hesitation we had when touring potential venues. We were so happy that we decided to go with the Aquarium and would highly recommend this venue to anyone looking for something unique, fun, and memorable!”

Respecting the wishes of John H. Pierce, who bequeathed the mansion and property to the Town of Lincoln, the venue welcomes the local community and beyond as a place for year-round recreation, weddings, corporate and social events, art shows, car shows, summer concerts, movie filming among others.

Why you'll love this venue

  • Both indoor and outdoor options
  • Dressing room available
  • Pets can join the celebration

Venue considerations

  • Does not have a dance floor
  • Venue feels large for events with small guest lists
  • Does not provide event staff
“From the moment we entered the grounds to many vendor visits, all the way to the wedding day, we felt like we were at home at Pierce House. We were able to curate the space to our specific visions, and Jen was sooo helpful throughout the whole process. She also has the cutest bulldogs on the planet, and we were actually sad the next day picking up the remaining decorations because we wanted to keep working with her. You really don't have to do much to the space to make it beautiful, and with a Director as involved and as helpful as Jen, you'll have the most fairy tale wedding day. Just a pro tip for communication: Jen is the most responsive via phone, so text or call her to inquire about meetings, and she will be at your side whether you're planning for 6 months or 2 years.”

“We had the most wonderful wedding experience at Wentworth by the Sea and could not recommend this venue to other couples enough. Catherine Chapman and her staff were professional, communicative, and had our best interests in mind right at the start, from working out all of the last-minute details to staying in touch in the weeks following our wedding. They worked to ensure all of our needs were met – from food allergies to necessary photo breaks – and when we had questions or needed a last-minute change in our plans, they did everything they could to go above and beyond our expectations. The biggest takeaway we heard from our guests was how amazing the food and beverages were, and we couldn't agree more. At cocktail hour, the hors d'oeuvres were passed frequently, the appetizer stations were a hit, and the bar staff was excellent at keeping the lines moving. At the reception, there wasn't a clean plate in the entire ballroom. We also appreciated that the venue had great recommendations for vendors. From flowers to rentals and a band that kept everyone on their feet, we felt that we had the best team to support us and make our day look and feel exactly how we imagined. We could not have pictured a more perfect way to celebrate our love, and the staff at Wentworth by the Sea made us feel like one-in-a-million!”

Once the venue was completed, we were able to view the space and were blown away. It is absolutely beautiful. We served the braised short rib, seared shrimp, and rolled lasagna, and each dish was delicious. We felt so cared for by the event managers, wedding attendants, servers, and bartenders who checked-in with us throughout the night. It was such a wonderful experience and we did not have to worry about anything on our wedding night besides celebrating ourselves. Our guests commented on what a lovely time they had. • Classic, vintage atmosphere

Venue considerations

  • Not wheelchair accessible
  • Venue feels large for events with small guest lists
  • Does not have a dance floor
“I looked into countless wedding venues all across New England, but when my then-fiancé and I arrived at Scotland Fields for our venue tour, I immediately knew that it was the place we needed to host our wedding weekend. That gut feeling that this was somewhere really special never wore off, and I know that all of our guests felt that same feeling throughout the entire weekend. We also don't have enough positive things to say about the Scotland Fields team. My husband and I had a very specific vision about how we wanted our weekend to come together, and the team was nothing but accommodating to allow us to create the weekend that we envisioned. They were responsive when we had questions, helpful when we needed recommendations and guidance, and prompt to resolve anything that came up throughout the weekend (not that there was much of anything to resolve!!). We could not recommend this venue more highly, and will forever be grateful for the weekend that Scotland Fields allowed us to curate!”
