The gardens offer a beautifully layered setting that flows naturally from one space to the next. Guests enter through formal flower beds lined with charming walkways, where seasonal blooms and brick paths create an elegant, romantic atmosphere. Beyond the flower gardens, the Lower Gardens open into a spacious grassy area, ideal for tented cocktail hours and relaxed mingling. Above, the Upper Gardens feature a raised lawn that feels private and intimate, making it a perfect setting for ceremonies

Our ceremony package, perfect for an elopement or a ceremony with 20 or fewer people. Two hours of garden use for an intimate ceremony and photographs. Our historic 18th-century warehouse will be available in case of inclement weather for no additional charge. The 20 person limit includes vendors and officiants. Please note that weddings and rentals, we require 50% of the total price up front, alongside with a $500 security deposit.

Peak pricing $3,500
Our ceremony package is ideal for up to 100 people. Three hours of garden use includes a half-hour photo session inside the Great Hall for the couple only. Your set-up and clean-up is included in the 3 hour time. Our warehouse is available in case of inclement weather for no additional charge. Please note that weddings and rentals, we require 50% of the total price up front, alongside with a $500 security deposit. Additional rent time is $500 per hour.

The Katharine

This package includes the ceremony and reception for up to 20 people. You have full use of our beautiful garden and warehouse for 5 hours, including your set-up and clean-up. Please note that weddings and rentals, we require 50% of the total price up front, alongside with a $500 security deposit. Additional rent time is $500 per hour. and house tours are $100 per hour with a two hour minimum.

The Samuel

This ceremony and reception package is for up to 100 people. You have full use of the gardens and the warehouse for 6 hours, including your set-up and clean-up. We will also include two hours of first-floor tours for you and your guests. Please note that weddings and rentals, we require 50% of the total price up front, alongside with a $500 security deposit. Additional rent time is $500 per hour.

Amazing Wedding
We had our wedding ceremony here and it was absolutely incredible! We cannot thank the Moffatt-Ladd House and Garden staff enough. Olivia was amazing and super helpful in helping us coordinate our wedding ceremony. The garden in early October is stunning! Would highly recommend to any couple interested in a Portsmouth, NH wedding.
Just Lovely!
Our clients had reserved the garden area behind the house for about an hour so they could have their “first look” and some creative and formal videos/pictures of their bridal party and family. As a wedding filmmaker, we love the gardens as they offer so many options within a fairly small space. We’ve also filled a wedding ceremony here in the past. Just lovely.
Gorgeous Gardens
The museum is in the middle of downtown Portsmouth and one would never know such a gorgeous garden is tucked away in the back of the historic mansion. It really is such a beautiful spot and so romantic. The house is a museum and so their main purpose is to give tours and educate visitors, but weddings help support their mission. You have to bring in caterers, florists, a tent, chairs, tables, linens, etc., which is a lot to coordinate so if you want a one-stop-shop type of venue, this isn't for you. However, if you want a unique, memorable wedding venue--this is definitely it! The space really lends itself well to weddings with several different spots for each part of the wedding. An upper garden overlooking the space (and a small glimpse of the water), a tent fits well in the lower garden for dinner, and the barn is a perfect spot for dancing. I really felt like I could utilize the entire space and our guests kept telling us how perfect the spot was--one of the most beautiful weddings they'd been to!
