About this venue

Elegant plantings and cultivated grounds fill this public garden with vibrancy that's more than a century in the making. Long Hill is a property of The Trustees of Reservations, a Massachusetts non-profit corporation. From 1916 to 1979, Long Hill was the summer home of noted author and editor of The Atlantic Monthly, Ellery Sedgwick. He summered here with his first wife, Mabel Cabot Sedgwick, an accomplished horticulturist, gardener, and author of The Garden Month by Month, and his second wife, Marjorie Russell Sedgwick, a rare plants specialist—both of whom created a delightful, enchanting landscape, surrounded by more than 100 acres of woodland. Today, visitors delight in the beauty of Long Hill’s structured and naturalistic gardens as well as a network of woodland trails. A diverse collection of trees, shrubs, and distinctive perennial plants provide color during the growing season, peaking in May and June and providing structure and beauty throughout the year.

Magical Wedding Experience!
We had the most incredible experience having our wedding at Long Hill. From the first communication, Helena was very responsive and easy to work with. We had toured the venue when it was covered in snow, yet we could still tell how special of a place it was. The day of the ceremony, everything looked better than we ever could have dreamed of. I felt like I was in Pride & Prejudice the entire day!I've attached some photos to let them speak for themselves - I would choose Long Hill for our wedding 100/100 times!

August Wedding at Long Hill
My husband and I absolutely loved our experience at Long Hill for our wedding in August 2026. The venue is stunning - from the historic estate building to the lush gardens, our guests were raving about the natural beauty and romance of Long Hill. Helena, our event manager, was organized and knowledgable and made planning stress-free from start to finish. The staff were kind and accommodating and worked to make our vision for the day come to life. I was worried about the size of the venue (we were at max capacity with 150 guests), but everyone fit well under the reception tent with plenty of room for dancing and a full band. It was very hot the day of our wedding - so if you book an August wedding consider renting fans for the reception tent. This made a big difference for us and our guests. If you are searching for a gorgeous outdoor venue, look no further!

An unforgettable venue
We recently had our wedding at Longhill and the entire process was seamless and fantastic. We first toured the venue about a year in advance in early April. It was a snowy and cold day, but we still fell in love with the location. The outdoor garden is a beautiful mix of different foliage along winding paths and stunning lawns. The variety of plants and trees cannot be understated, and we were blown away. We were shown around by Helena, who was an incredible contact for us. She worked through every detail with us and kept our minds at ease. On the actual day of the wedding, it was once again cold and raining in late May. To say it was unexpected was an understatement. Helena and her team handled the weather seamlessly. They let us make the indoor/outdoor call right up to the event. They worked incredibly hard to make sure the day was still perfect for us and they succeeded. Longhill is a beautiful venue and anyone would be lucky to work with Helena.

A Stunning Venue & Stellar Team
Long Hill was an absolute dream for our wedding day. From our first conversation, the team proved to be prompt and genuinely helpful—they answered every question we had and offered thoughtful vendor recommendations when we felt stuck. The venue itself is stunning, with gorgeous blooms throughout the grounds and a charming home that set the perfect backdrop for our celebration. Their tent accommodated all our guests comfortably, plus our band and dance floor, without feeling cramped. Long Hill Wedding Venue
Long Hill was the perfect venue for us! The gardens and house are absolutely beautiful, and the tent is the perfect size for reception. Our guests gushed about the location all day! Helena was wonderful to work with! She was very organized and responsive to any questions we had through the whole planning process. She made sure everything went smoothly the day of, and truly helped our day be flawless!
