The Ladybugs’ varied repertoire of music is enhanced by the enchanting, dulcet tones of voices and trombones. Our music is a reflection of our home city, New York; culturally diverse, fashionable, and welcoming to all people. The music we play is a unique blend of genres we call “Dreamy Latin cowgirl jazz.” We combine our love and reverence for the classic Great American Songbook repertoire with the music of our Latin American heritage (specifically Cuban, Colombian and Brazilian) to create a unique sound. The Ladybugs’ repertoire includes favorites from the 1920s, ‘30s, and ‘40s, infused with Western swing, blues, Latin, and classical music.

Being in this band since I was in High School has been a crazy ride, but also fun and gratifying for sure. East Coast is one big family and we count band members, loyal fans and now near two thousand couples to be part of that crew! There is nothing quite like the elegance of strings. We recommend string groups for Wedding Ceremonies, Elegant Dinners, and Cocktail Hours. Whether it is the standard grouping of Violin, Violin, Viola and Cello or a hybrid ensemble with harp or guitar, our players are well versed in both classical and contemporary repertoire. We also have Electric String Quartets. Some clients opt to have the group play acoustic for the ceremony and switch to electric instruments for cocktail hour.

Our Hoppin’ John Steel Band performs Calypso, Soca, Reggae, Carnival, Belafonte, “Beach Music” and standard American selections as well. Instrumentalists in this group include steel drums (or “pans”) of various sizes, guitar, bass, drums, percussion, keyboard, horns, vocalists, limbo dancers and other specialists added for special occasions.

The Celtic Balladeers perform all styles of Irish and Celtic music. In the above sound clip they are captured live (VERY live) on St. Patty’s day at Coogan’s on Broadway. The sound clip features our guitar and tenor banjo duo while the complete band includes several other instrumentalists such as guitar, Irish tenor banjo, accordion, fiddle, bass, drums, bodhran, whistle, pipes, flute, mandolin, keyboard, horns, vocalists and dancers. Besides the standard, and county specific Irish material they can also perform a whole catalog of American dance music.

String 18 is a perfect trio for wedding ceremonies, cocktail hours, and dinners. Their repertoire includes Classic Rock, Contemporary Pop, Latin, Jazz, and Classical. With three acoustic guitars they create vibrant musical arrangements that range from the elegance of a String Quartet to the fire of the Gipsy Kings. There is almost no piece of music that they cannot perform, so this is a great ensemble for special requests.

Margot Varret is a uniquely gifted performer with both her voice and harp. As a native born French speaker she is expert in the repertoire of Chanson made famous by iconic artists like Edith Piaf and Charles Aznavour. She is also a fabulous classic jazz singer who renders the classics of the great American songbook with a signature French flair. She regularly sells out Birdland Theater leading her own group.

New York’s Best Little Big Band provides an authentic big band sound with a dynamic three horn section and driving rhythm section. Led my NY music producer and educator, David Fletcher, the band performs at any kind of event. The band can perform with or without one of our guest vocalists.

Hot Jazz of the 20’s consists of two guitars, string bass and jazz violin. It is reminiscent of the hot jazz sound popular in 1902’s Paris. The two most famous artists of this period are violinist Stefan Grapelli and the gypsy guitarist Django Reinhardt.

ALEJANDRO WAS BORN IN SANTO DOMINGO, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC AND LIVED IN DOMINICAN REPUBLIC UNTIL AGE 4. AT THE UNIVERSITY OF MIAMI’S FROST SCHOOL OF MUSIC ALEJANDRO STUDIED MUSIC EDUCATION AND MUSIC BUSINESS AS A CLASSICAL PIANO PRINCIPLE AND VOICE SECONDARY. ALEJANDRO GRADUATED FROM FROST WITH EXTENSIVE EXPERIENCE IN K-12 MUSIC EDUCATION IN BAND, CHOIR, AND ORCHESTRA, AS WELL AS IMMENSE KNOWLEDGE OF MUSICAL THEATRE REPERTOIRE ACCOMPANYING AND PERFORMING. Will is an accomplished musician and conductor. He has performed on numerous cast recordings of broadway musicals including My Fair Lady, Fiddler on the Roof, and the 2014 Tony Awards. He conducted the national tour of Miss Saigon, the 2015 Fiddler on the Roof revial, and the revial of my Fair Lady at Lincoln Theater. He maintains a vibrant teaching practice at the Elisabeth Morrow School, the Wilton Music Studios, and School for Strings. He brings his leadership skills and his well developed patience as an teacher to private event performances.

WHILE COMPLETING HIS FORMAL TRAINING IN CLASSICAL COMPOSITION AND CELLO AT THE CLEVELAND INSTITUTE OF MUSIC AND THE FLORIDA STATE UNIVERSITY, GLENN TOOK UP DANCING THE LINDY HOP AS A HOBBY. THROUGH THE LINDY HIS LOVE OF EARLY JAZZ GREW, BUT HE LAMENTED THAT THERE WERE SO FEW MUSICAL GROUPS THAT SPECIALIZED AUTHENTIC PERFORMANCE OF HIS FAVORITE KIND OF MUSIC.
