He was very professional and easy to work with from the beginning and we knew after our first conversion he'd be able to get the party going. It really made a difference that he took the time to learn about the flow of the wedding and our musical preferences. On the wedding day, he made sure everything was ready before our guests arrived by coming early to set things up. He even had backup music ready in case the musicians had to cancel due to inclement weather. He even mic'd our officiant for the ceremony. “We had such a wonderful experience with our DJ. Before the wedding, he met with us to really understand our ideas and preferences, and it made us feel so confident going into the big day. The photo booth was a huge hit and when we received the pictures afterward, along with the beautiful book he created with all the prints, it meant so much to us. It was such a fun and thoughtful detail. I was also nervous about having both Portuguese/brazilian songs and English songs throughout the night, but he made it happen perfectly. The music flowed nonstop and he mixed everything so naturally that our families and friends had an incredible time. My husband even sent him a very special song made for me at the last minute during the wedding, and he added it right away without hesitation. It made the moment unforgettable. “We cannot say enough great things about Jay from Standing Room Only! He is the best emcee and DJ and we highly recommend him to anyone who wants their guests on the dance floor the entire night! Jay checked in with us throughout the planning process (which for us was almost two years), offering advice and sending us outstanding vendor suggestions. We also had an in-depth planning call a few weeks before the wedding to go over the flow of the day and to decide on our music. Jay took the time to send us shortened versions of the songs and also offered commonly used song suggestions for the Mother-Son Dance and Father-Daughter Dance to help us determine our final song choices. He also took the time to call our parents to see if they needed anything from him on the wedding day, which was a thoughtful touch. Jay did an outstanding job on the day of the wedding! All of the music was wonderful and flowed well. He also did a great job facilitating the various events such as the cake cutting, speeches, bouquet toss and garter belt song. He also took the time to check in with us during dinner to confirm final details and walk us through the various reception events. Doing this was going above and beyond. As I mentioned at the start of this review, Jay kept our guests on the dance floor the entire night! That is not often the case at weddings! He was upbeat, fun and kept the party going for us! Jay is an outstanding DJ who paid attention to the small things. He is worth every penny! “If I could give John and Trading Post Productions 10 stars, I would. I don't normally go on and on about how great people are, but this group absolutely deserves it. For our wedding, we booked DJ for the ceremony, live music for cocktail hour, and DJ for the reception. First, the live music trio (which we had a guitar, violin, and cello) absolutely nailed it! We chose several songs from their repertoire, but also requested a couple others that were personal to the bride and I, and they not only were accommodating, but they knocked it out of the park during their performance! Second, I could share all the little details about how John was prepared for every moment, but here's the big idea: he is experienced, he will do whatever it takes to get the job done, he is easy to work with, he knows how to read a room, and he is SO talented. So many guests (and even venue staff!) commented on how amazing our DJ was! And there were several times throughout the evening where every single guest was out on the dance floor! Even more than a DJ, John is kind and outgoing, and was so excited to help us celebrate our big day. One little detail I would like to share was during the bride and I's last dance before we departed. John put on the song we requested and then left the room, giving us total privacy in that moment. Though this seems like a little thing, it allowed the bride and I to focus entirely on each other without feeling like anybody was watching us. It is a moment that will no doubt stick with me for the rest of my life. I genuinely don't think a more well-rounded DJ exists. If you're on the fence about whether or not this group is worth it, allow me to be your sign that having John and Trading Post Productions at your wedding is the best choice you could make. The Downtown Collective Band was established in 2016 as just a couple of guys who wanted to jam out in the attic. We started by getting some small gigs here and there doing hybrid DJ/live music performances. Then we found friends from music school at UNL that played instruments and made the jam bigger and got more gigs. Now we are known as one of the top bands in the Midwest. We love playing live music because you get a much more authentic experience with people actually playing instruments and connecting with the crowd! He wasn’t just a part of our wedding day, he made our wedding day. From the very first moment to the very last song, he gave us something so magical, so unforgettable, that it still makes us emotional to think about. He was literally the heartbeat of our day. He played live cello pre ceremony for all the guests to enjoy that was truly so beautiful. But the live cello as I walked down the aisle is a memory etched into our hearts forever. It was more than music. It felt like the soundtrack to our love story, and it was the most beautiful beginning to the rest of our lives. Then, during cocktail hour, he transformed the atmosphere with looping, beatboxing, and cello in a way that left every single guest completely captivated. “DJ Kevin was insanely observant of the crowd and was super attentive to me and my fiancé. He brought the energy in a genuine way and contributed to the most incredible day of our lives. The communication leading up to the day was flawless and on the day he always made sure to give exactly what we needed on the dance floor.
