“We had the privilege of being the first wedding at Retreat Farm and they knocked it out of the park. The venue itself was gorgeous and the scenery was absolutely perfect for our fall wedding. The new barn was beautifully done and spacious enough for all of our guests. Sam and Jen were the dream team when it came to preparing for the day in advance and for taking the stress off my shoulders the day of. I went into my day prepared to be bombarded with questions and stressed with scheduling but Sam and Jen handled everything for us. I cannot express for grateful I am to have found this wonderful venue and for the support and positivity that came from the staff. Also huge shoutout to Pete the bartender everyone loved you!! If you’re looking for a beautiful spot to get married or have any event look no further. Thank you guys for everything you did to make our special day even more special!”

Scott Farm Orchard
Rating: 5.0 (3 reviews)
Dummerston, VT
  • Up to 120 guests

  • Starts at $4,500

The 571-acre Scott Farm, a The Landmark Trust USA property, is home to 130 varieties of ecologically-grown heirloom apples and other fine fruits, a seasonal Farm Market, and the Apple Barn Event Center. All 23 buildings on the property are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. A popular wedding venue, the farm is surrounded by four authentically-restored historic year-round vacation rental properties accommodating up to 22 guests—one of which is Rudyard Kipling’s Naulakha where he penned the Jungle Book. The Stone Trust Education Center, located in the 1862 Barn, showcases beautiful, unique dry-stone wall installations around the property. The Apple Barn accommodates up to 120 guests, has a commercial kitchen, three restrooms, one is wheelchair accessible. Overlooking the farm and mountains, a delightful spot for special occasions, rehearsal dinners, and wedding receptions. Exchange vows in the Courtyard or by a pond overlooking the apple orchard and stonewalls.

Why you'll love this venue

  • Wheelchair accessible
  • Natural elegance with open spaces
  • Both indoor and outdoor options

Venue considerations

  • No on-site bridal suite
  • No in-house catering options
  • Does not provide event staff
“My husband and I visited Scott Farm on two occasions before our June 2025 wedding and will continue to treasure it as a destination. The staff, especially Suzanne Tessitore, are absolutely fantastic and went above and beyond to help us produce the (slightly alternative) wedding of our dreams. Our 80 guests could comfortably gather in the Apple Barn, by the brook, and at Naulakha for our send-off brunch the morning after. The natural beauty and calm of Dummerston combined with the beautiful, quirky features of the property like the stone walls and cafe bar really made the whole event feel like an escape from reality. We were able to rent all the houses on the property for ourselves and our immediate families, which was a great way to spend lots of time together (and have help close by on set-up day!). It was personally meaningful to me as a native Vermonter to share this state with our people, especially at a venue that encapsulates so many of the values and features that I love about it. I could go on and on! Some more key points: - We were a very (very) DIY couple and appreciated the control we were given for space usage, setup, and flow of the day -- we did not need a lot of hand-holding and we never felt like we were being "managed" - I have a family member who uses a wheelchair and he was able to get around the Apple Barn and surrounding grounds just fine - We ordered apple cider doughnuts from the farm as part of our wedding dessert and they were A - The vendors that Scott Farm suggested to us were all great, and as someone easily overwhelmed by decision fatigue I appreciated that in this relatively remote area there weren't too many options - Many of our guests were LGBTQIA and (not surprisingly for Vermont) were very comfortable - My father in law wanted to bake sourdough bread for our welcome dinner and Suzanne brought us her personal dutch oven for him to use!?! I would recommend Scott Farm as a venue for anyone looking for a naturally beautiful, simple venue highlighting the Vermont landscape and local food economy. We will treasure these memories forever.”

“While my husband and I didn't get married at Milliken Manor, we had the pleasure of working with Kristen and Blackwater Events for our wedding in November 2025. It was an absolute joy to work with her from Day 1. She took every wish on our wishlist and made it a reality. She coordinated a "bouquet-making station" for me and my bridesmaids and created a timeline that maximized dancing for the guests. She pulled off a Chipotle dinner buffet that my husband thought was only a pipe dream (and even made it "upscale" enough to please my mother). Last but certainly not least, she somehow got my dad excited about the planning process and navigated family dynamics like a saint. If I had it to do all over again, it would certainly be with Kristen - and this time at Milliken Manor!”

In 2011 we purchased an old dairy farm in a quiet corner of Harrisville, New Hampshire. “The Perfect Combination of Beauty, Comfort, and Efficiency We were married at Mayfair Farm on Labor Day weekend 2025. We had about 130 guests. We had many requirements regarding food, drink, comfort of guests, the ceremony, and meals. It’s hard to imagine a host with greater caring, talent, taste, and efficiency than Sarah, the owner. Everything was perfect, even beyond perfect, like a dream! Facility: Mayfair Farm is a beautiful venue. The custom-designed barn was perfect for dining, dancing, serving, and preparation. The firepit right outside the barn made for memorable gatherings, especially on a chilly evening, and with the fun of preparing S’more’s for the guests over the fire. The scenery is gorgeous, particularly the top-of-the-hill ceremony spot surrounded by New Hampshire hills and mountains. The gorgeous view and natural setting added much to the wedding experience. The short walk up the hill to the ceremony hilltop was easy, and elderly guests were driven up without any issue. The barn and farm have professional kitchens so that preparing and serving a meal for 130 people went off without any issues. There was plenty of parking for guests. There is an AirBnB on-site where we stayed and got ready. It was comfortable and great for the hair/make-up preparations before the ceremony. Sarah made her entire facility available to us for the entire weekend—this made things highly convenient and relaxing. For meals, they helped us arrange for a beautiful tent to be set up right outside the barn, so we could use the barn for dancing. The table set-up was gorgeous, which contributed to a memorable, emotionally touching event. Planning: Sarah is a total professional, with the taste and experience to make our event as perfect as we had hoped for. Interacting with Sarah was a pleasure. She is kind, creative, and deeply cares about our hopes for the day and making them come to fruition. She made terrific suggestions on logistics and food, and was creative and responsive in iterating until we finalized the menus. She specializes in farm-to-table food, with local farmers, and this made everything healthy and delicious. She assisted us with vendors (e.g., flowers, tent, wedding planner, bartender, toilets) who provided excellent services. Sarah has a staff of efficient, trusted people who know just what to do, while at the same time exuding warmth and friendship while working. Whatever tension might be present on a wedding day, these workers diffused it and made everyone feel comfortable and relaxed. This is huge and played a big role in the perfection of our wedding weekend. Day-of Excellence: All of the above contributed to a wedding weekend that seemed effortless for us and our guests, and of course we saw and understood the tremendous amount of teamwork, talent, and effort went on behind the scenes. We felt relaxed, as did our parents and guests. We all enjoyed the beautiful atmosphere and the meaningful, beautiful gathering, ceremony, and celebration. Bottom Line: Mayfair Farm and Sarah provide a specialized offering unlike any other, and at a reasonable price. If you want a wedding in a rural setting, with farm-to-table food prepared to perfection, and a flawless, relaxed ‘vibe’ to the day, look no further. The bonus is that we felt cared for, we saw our vision come to life under Sarah’s supervision, and we saw Sarah’s employees and vendors enthusiastically and efficiently make everything happen perfectly. Highest recommendation.”

“Where to even begin! The farm road estate team was phenomenal!! Leading up to the wedding Taylor addressed our every question and was extremely detail oriented. She helped share best practices from other weddings on site but was always supportive when we had our own unique vision. Everyone who worked at Farm Road was friendly and helpful to our guests. They were also ready to shift as unexpected things popped up (like a sudden downpour) and this helped us to relax and fully enjoy the weekend. Our guests LOVED Farm Road Estate too. They raved about the beautiful and cozy rooms, the wood beams and architecture through the Great Room, the delicious food at every meal, and the lovely grounds. We were really happy to have picked a venue where our guests could stay onsite so people had more quality time together. We would definitely recommend Farm Road to any couple looking for a special wedding weekend in Vermont!”

“We had a truly beautiful 95-guest wedding in August 2025 at Mount Snow. The ceremony was in the Wedding Garden, a semi-last-minute change that we decided on and they accommodated us easily. Our reception was at Carinthia Lodge, and we did our first look photos on the mountain top. We also had a welcome reception the evening before at the golf club (which happens to be the spot where we got engaged!). Everything was dreamy- it's the best word to describe it all. The entire team worked so hard to make our day perfect and it was! Our coordinator Stacy worked within our budget and helped us find flexible food and beverage options for each of our events. I also have pretty strict dietary restrictions and they made me the perfect meal for the reception. I had only seen Carinthia Lodge during ski season and was completely in awe at how elegant and refined it looked for our reception. It was the perfect space! There was even a room where we could chill out for a few minutes in private, change into my cocktail dress, practice our dance one last time, and just have a quiet moment. The day went off without a hitch and we had such a fantastic time. Our guests had a wonderful time, too. Our day was magical and unforgettable. Everyone on staff was incredibly helpful and friendly and we really felt cared for. We could not have asked for more!”

“From the moment we booked The Hermitage Inn nearly two years before our wedding, we knew we had made the right decision—but somehow, our experience still exceeded every expectation we had. Planning a wedding from out of state can be overwhelming, but the entire process was completely seamless from beginning to end. Every question was answered promptly, every detail was thoughtfully considered, and we always felt like we were in the absolute best hands. The biggest reason for that is Gina Whalen. There truly aren't enough words to express how incredible she is. Gina is, without a doubt, one of the most talented, organized, kind, and genuine event coordinators we have ever met. She made us feel like we were her only couple, despite knowing how many weddings she manages. Her communication was exceptional, her attention to detail was unmatched, and her calm, reassuring presence made the entire planning process enjoyable instead of stressful. Every single promise she made was fulfilled—and then some. She anticipated needs before we even realized we had them and made sure every detail was absolutely perfect. Our entire wedding weekend was nothing short of magical. The welcome party was the perfect way to kick off the celebrations, and the staff went above and beyond to make our family and friends feel welcomed and cared for. Then came the wedding day—and we were completely blown away. Every member of the Hermitage team worked so hard behind the scenes to create a day that was effortless, beautiful, and unforgettable. The venue itself is breathtaking. The grounds are impeccably maintained, the mountain backdrop is stunning, and every space feels elegant while still being warm and inviting. Our guests are still talking about how beautiful everything was, how incredible the food was, and how smoothly the entire weekend flowed. We heard over and over again that it was one of the best weddings they had ever attended. One of the things we appreciated most was how genuinely invested everyone at The Hermitage Inn was in making our wedding special. It never felt transactional—it felt personal. The entire team celebrated with us, cared about our families, and worked tirelessly to make our vision come to life. Looking back, there isn't a single thing we would change. Every expectation we had was not only met—it was surpassed in every possible way. If you're considering The Hermitage Inn as your wedding venue, stop searching and book it. You will not find a more beautiful location, a more professional team, or a better wedding coordinator than Gina Whalen. To Gina and everyone at The Hermitage Inn: thank you for giving us the most incredible weekend of our lives. The memories you helped create will stay with us forever, and we are endlessly grateful. We wish we could do it all over again.”

First and foremost, they were extremely accommodating with my allergy and the allergy of our guests, my mom’s wheelchair, and allowing us to have a dog at the venue as our ring bearer. Second, the venue was beautiful. The food delicious. And service incredible. The price was exactly what we were looking for: AFFORDABLE. But the best part was Haley. She made wedding planning with the venue easy, uncomplicated, and was very open to our ideas and what we wanted for our big day.”

“My wife & I had the privilege to get married surrounded by our friends & family at the beautiful Montague Retreat Center in June of 2024. There’s a seemingly endless list of what drew us to MRC, but some key features to highlight: - Incredibly beautiful indoor & outdoor spaces - Comfortable, spacious, and accessible on-site lodging options - Flexible weekend buyout, enabling us to bring all of our ideas to life without much restriction or hurdles - Wheelhouse Catering: some of the best wedding food we’ve ever tasted in our lives - All of Montague staff, especially Jason Jason deserves his own dedicated review, but from the planning stages all the way through until the end of our weekend, Jason made himself available and ready to help. Jason referred several our vendors that made our day go off without a hitch, all of whom brought creative and personal touches that made our day so special. He consistently went above and beyond day of as well, from catching decorations that needed to be put out, to being hands-on assisting guests that needed extra help, and facilitating vendors to ensure everything was in its right place. His knowledge and general presence brought a calming energy that really helped us feel at home at MRC. For our wedding weekend (170 guests), we really took advantage of all we could at MRC. We observed first hand and heard from guests after our wedding that they felt they had plenty of space to enjoy themselves comfortably through the ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner, and reception. With the full weekend rented, we used every square inch that the venue offered: - Friday: Portable Brick Oven Pizza in front of the Great Hall - Saturday AM: family provided breakfast buffet near the dining tent - Ceremony: Outdoor up on the ceremony ring - Cocktail Hour: Custom Poetry and plenty of activities all around the barn - Reception: Live band with stage lighting & sound; DJ later in the evening - Saturday Night: Late night fire pit & snacks for the wedding party - Sunday AM: Bagel sandwiches from Tandem Bagel in the lower level of the barn We can’t stress enough how perfect our weekend was at MRC. Montague Retreat Center will always hold a special place in our hearts, as it left a lasting impact on not only us, but our friends and family as well. At the end of our wedding weekend, many of our family members suggested that we rent out the space for a night every few years for a recurring big family bash. We may have to do just that!”

“The Blue Bear Inn was the perfect wedding venue for us! We knew we wanted a venue that allowed dogs, was close to an airport (1 hr) for family traveling, had excellent food, offered beautiful scenery, could house our out-of-town guests, was mostly a one stop shop (with lodging, wedding venue, ceremony site options, day-of-coordination, catering, & cake/desserts), and provided historical romance vibes without being a barn — and the Blue Bear checked every box and then some! Carrie, Bob, and the team gave us such a special wedding weekend in May - they didn't plan the most perfect rainbow, but I know they would’ve if they could!”

Rating: 5.0 (2 reviews)
Ashfield, MA
  • Up to 140 guests
  • All-inclusive
  • Indoor & outdoor
  • Starts at $18,600

We plan, arrange, and cater events—weddings, bat and bar mitzvahs, showers, reunions, small gatherings, memorial services or anything you can think of, indoors or outdoors. We host events here at the Curtis House, our 1850s Dutch Colonial. The summer home of George William Curtis, then the editor of Harpers Weekly. It’s a charming, sprawling old house that abuts the town green. During warmer months events take place in our gardens and the fully restored late 19th century barn. Whatever you imagine for your event, we're here to help you realize your dreams. We'll help you every step of the way, from planning and budgeting to coordinating the day. We open our home to you and take away all the stress of planning your dream day. We want to make your day about who you are.

Why you'll love this venue

  • Unique barn setting
  • Exudes old-world charm
  • Has a relaxed and casual vibe

Venue considerations

  • Does not allow pets

  • Not for you if you prefer a more modern aesthetic
“I cannot speak highly enough about our experience hosting our wedding at The Curtis House by Gloriosa & Co. My husband and I got married a couple of weeks ago (September 2024) and our wedding was truly one the happiest, best days of our lives thanks to the love and personalization that Gloria and Emma put into planning and executing our day. We were drawn to so many things about the venue, including the charming setting of Ashfield, the rustic but modernized aesthetic of the barn, the beautiful gardens and greenhouse, and the house being an available space to get ready. We were also drawn to the convenience and uniqueness of being able to provide our floral arrangements from Gloria’s greenhouse and gardens on-site, and having all of the food and beverages taken care of through the venue’s catering and bar team. But what made us decide to book this venue for our special day was the attention that Gloria and Emma give each couple. This venue is not your typical wedding factory that puts on weddings multiple times a week, every week of the year; Gloria and Emma host between 12-15 weddings per year and consequently each couple they work with gets full access to the venue the weekend of their wedding and so much guidance during the planning process. We were able to cultivate a vegetarian menu consisting of so many of our favorite foods plus a number of signature dishes of the venue, such as a butternut squash galette that was a crowd favorite. Sustainability is also incredibly important to us as a couple, and Gloria and Emma are committed to sourcing only local, seasonal ingredients for the food and florals and minimizing waste, which meant so much to us. In terms of decor and furnishings, the venue has so much available for couples to use, such as tables, chairs, ceremony benches, several wedding arches to choose from, displays for food or guest favors, tableware, candles, string lights, and more. We did not have to rent or coordinate anything other than the few DIY projects we made, which Gloria and Emma effortlessly integrated into the set up for us. Being able to take care of practically everything through Gloria and Emma made planning so much simpler. On the wedding day, Gloria, Emma, and their team handled the venue set up in a few hours, which happened like a choreographed dance that required practically no work from us or our wedding parties other than providing input and approval along the way. Everything went extremely smoothly and we were able to be fully present. After our ceremony, my husband and I returned to the house, where Gloria had set up champagne and a spread of our hors d'oeuvres for us to enjoy over a few minutes of privacy, which is something she had recommended we do as we took in the moment together. Our guests have had nothing but positive things to say about our wedding and it was clear the day of how much fun everyone had. We have received so many compliments about how beautiful and authentic the venue was, how exquisite Gloria’s floral arrangements were, how delicious all of the food was (even the heavy meat-eaters loved the vegetarian menu), and how this will be a wedding they will always remember. Gloria made us feel like part of her family and we were so happy to be able to support her business. We truly could not have asked for a more memorable, personalized, loving, and beautiful wedding, and hope that many other couples have the pleasure of getting married at this special place.”

“The Colonial Hotel was a perfect venue for our wedding Reception. From the moment we reached out, the team there was quick to respond and provided us with detailed information to help us plan our special event. Mary and all the staff we dealt with were very helpful in making our day truly special. The beautiful ballroom with the wood floors made for a night of fun dancing; the ballroom windows, outside stonework of the building and the gazebo made for some stunning photos. We received great comments from our guests on the appetizers and meal. It was a beautiful setting for our wedding celebration and we were very glad to find it.”

The inn offers a beautiful country setting on the outside that is perfect for an outdoor ceremony. We held ours at the gazebo in the courtyard, which was surrounded by beautiful trees and scenery that make for gorgeous pictures. The dining hall of the inn hosts the reception, and is perfect for an intimate and stylish dining experience that then morphs a dance floor! The food is excellent (Stan's stuffed french toast can't be missed), not only for the reception but the rehearsal dinner and breakfasts on Sat and Sun. Stan and Odo are extremely kind and gracious hosts, who let us make our wedding truly our own!”

“I have nothing but wonderful things to say about Nicole, Keith, and the Greatful Dane Lodge! My husband, Shaun, and I had our wedding here this past weekend, and I’m so “greatful” that we came across this venue when we did. After touring nearly 10 venues, we were starting to think we would never find the one. As soon as we met Nicole and saw the lodge, we knew this was it. Not only is the pricing genuinely affordable for a wedding, but the venue itself is absolutely stunning. All 55 of our guests were raving about it throughout the entire night! We booked the Destination Wedding Package since most guests were traveling from out of state, and everyone staying on site was comfortable and had plenty of space. From the moment we booked, I never once felt pressured, rushed, or like we were being nickel-and-dimed for every little thing. Nicole and Keith went above and beyond to make our wedding weekend everything we hoped it would be, and I could not be more appreciative of all the work they put in behind the scenes to make it happen. If you’re looking for a venue where you’ll be treated like a person rather than a paycheck, and where the owners genuinely care about making your wedding special, TOUR THIS PLACE!! You’ll fall in love with it just like Shaun and I did. ️️ We truly could not recommend the Greatful Dane Lodge, Nicole, and Keith enough!”

One of our favorite memories was when I wanted a silly picture in the library, and the staff made sure the gentleman there stayed hidden, allowing us to play and giggle like kids in the dorms. “We stayed here for our entire wedding weekend, and we had our rehearsal dinner and welcome party here as well. For starters, Morgan is amazing. She was so flexible, easy to work with, and so organized. She is so attuned to the finer details and was always available to answer any questions. She was reliable, and I could feel her genuine sense of excitement for us when she was helping us plan. Nothing felt stressful while planning with Morgan, and she made our experience amazing. The welcome party was so much fun, and they hit the nail on the head. The food was spectacular. Kudos to the Reluctant Panther chef, as everything was absolutely mouthwatering. From the passed hors d'oeuvres to the main meal, it was some of the best food I've ever had. The inn itself is so beautiful. Each room has its own sense of self and such striking character. You really feel like you're in a Vermont inn rather than a commercial hotel. The bathroom in every single room is ginormous, with so much space. And don't even get me started on the breakfast picnic baskets! My friends and I couldn't get over how cute they were. Such a special touch for them to be delivered to each room as well. We love it here and can't wait to visit in the future! I would highly recommend staying here or planning any event here.”

“Going into planning our wedding we knew that we wanted a primarily outdoor venue that allowed us to have a full weekend event from Friday through Sunday morning. After looking at several throughout the CT, MA, and VT area and not finding one we loved, we stumbled on West Mountain Inn and immediately knew it was perfect. The venue itself is beautiful from the quintessentially New England bed and breakfast, to the flower garden behind the ceremony site, to the incredible mountains in the background. The venue in late summer was simply stunning. While we were lucky enough to have perfect weather allowing for a fully outdoor experience (welcome party, ceremony & cocktail hour, and farewell breakfast were all outside!) West Mountain offered enough indoor locations that if there had been inclement weather, we wouldn’t be confined to only one space, which was a concern we had with other venues we toured. All the food we had during our weekend was incredible, from the buffet dinner and hors d’oeuvres, the breakfasts Saturday and Sunday morning, and the woodfired oven pizzas during our welcome party (guests absolutely loved the scallion street corn pie!!). On top of the inn, property, and food being amazing, West Mountain Inn is such an excellent wedding venue because of Amie, the inn owner and coordinator. Amie clearly loves helping people make their dream weddings come true. She serves as the day of coordinator and point of contact for your vendors, and makes it incredibly easy and straightforward to make all of the decisions you need to make the day come true. Amie was incredibly responsive, professional, patient, kind, and accommodating to our questions and asks. She and the Head Chef helped us plan a menu that catered to multiple types of allergies, as well as working with the bar to do our own off menu signature cocktails and a mocktail for the reception. Amie’s two incredibly well behaved golden retrievers, Milo and Pepper, also joined and were a hit with kids and adults alike! Something unadvertised but amazing about West Mountain was the collection of decorations and items from previous weddings (think chalkboards, table numbers, card boxes, table seating displays, etc.) that Amie has available for her couples to use in their own weddings which reduced our DIY requirements to basically nothing. The only thing we rented was drapes in the barn but other than that everything was already provided. One of the best parts of having our wedding at West Mountain Inn is that it’s now a special, meaningful place that we’re able to return to over the coming years. West Mountain Inn was absolutely the best decision we made in our wedding planning journey and we would recommend it to anyone and everyone!”
