Nestled in the serene foothills of Southern Vermont’s Green Mountains, The Hermitage Inn welcomes guests with its unique brand of mountain elegance and inviting hospitality. An extensive renovation of the property and grounds has brought a luxury country resort, award-winning culinary team, and 5-star guest experience to the Deerfield Valley. The Hermitage Inn features luxurious guest rooms with views of Haystack Mountain, a private carriage house, upscale dining options, and a garden patio. Set on 112 acres, the property features a trout pond, apple orchards, private gardens, hiking and cross country ski trails and a covered bridge. James Beard Award Winning Chef Michael Schlow and his team have partnered with local producers to create the best dining experience in Southern Vermont. From private dinners for 10 in our Wine Cellar, to tented affairs for 200 on our lawn, let our culinary and events team indulge your guests with our unique brand of mountain elegance and hospitality.

A gorgeous space and an attentive staff…
When my husband and I decided to get married, we were extremely overwhelmed and had no idea where to even start with planning such a momentous event. We knew that we wanted the wedding to be intimate (not to many guests), in a setting that was surrounded by trees, and in a location that felt like home. Out of all the wedding venues in Vermont, the Hermitage Inn captured everything we were looking for. A gorgeous space and an attentive staff… making the day feel as effortless as possible. After a short call with the Events Director, Gina, we knew our big day was in good hands. She not only spent multiple hours on the phone with us, but she also provided amazing visuals for us as we were planning this wedding from out of state. I have never met a more dedicated person who works in a hospitality field. Gina is the definition of “going above and beyond” — even meeting us to tour the space on her day off last minute, so we were able to take the big leap in deciding this was our future wedding venue. She puts her entire heart in listening to her couples, understanding their vision, and bringing their dreams to life. And now to the part of the magical touches… this space is truly one that people are passionate to work for. Everyone who works in the space takes time to learn who their patrons are, so much so, that my husband and I has several interactions with the owners Mary Lou and Tim of the Inn before the wedding even occurred. The Hermitage Inn is not just a space where they churn guests in and out… the waiters to the bartenders to the check in staff all knew who we were, and did everything in their power to make the day special. On the day of the wedding, Tim personally delivered lunch to the bridal party and grooms party. The day after the wedding, when picking up our decorations to bring home, Tim himself was walking the grounds and taking care of some landscaping on his own in the quiet hours of the morning. It’s moments like that where you realize you are receiving first class service without the impersonal aspect of larger hotel and venues. On the wedding day itself, everyone was available to help where needed. I was looked in the eye, asked what I needed, and was never made to feel alone or out of sorts. Gina herself took our vision and DIY table settings, flowers, and glassware, and within hours had her entire staff create the space into the vision that we wanted. Lucky for us, we got married in the month of October, so the Hermitage Inn already was decorated with beautiful flowers, pumpkins, and corn stalks to provide additional ambience. The food… my husband and I have eaten at the Inn’s restaurant multiple times, and you are truly in for a treat. The high quality, amazing flavors, are exactly what you are served at your private event as well. I could go on and on about the amazing experience we had with the Hermitage Inn. So many of my guests stated… “this place is like a postcard.” We could not be more impressed with the attention and care we received with our wedding event. Even with a wedding of 30 guests, we were able to have an outdoor ceremony and an indoor reception in the gorgeous Birches dining room. We highly recommend this space for a future event or even a weekend away in Southern Vermont. It is now a place where we call ‘home.’ Thank you Tim, Mary Lou, Gina, and the entire staff of the Hermitage Inn for making our day one we will never forget!

We had the most incredible wedding at The Hermitage Inn in Vermont, and we can’t recommend it enough! From start to finish, the entire experience was flawless, thanks to the stunning venue, exceptional service, and our amazing wedding planner, Gina. The scenery at The Hermitage Inn is breathtaking—perfect for a Vermont wedding, with its charming rustic elegance, beautiful grounds, and cozy yet sophisticated atmosphere. Our guests were in awe of the picturesque setting, and it made for the most stunning wedding photos. The staff went above and beyond to ensure that every detail was perfect. From the moment we started planning, Gina was an absolute dream to work with—organized, professional, and always one step ahead. She truly understood our vision and brought it to life seamlessly. Her expertise and calm demeanor made the entire planning process stress-free, even when unexpected challenges arose. The food was another highlight! The Hermitage Inn’s culinary team created an incredible menu that our guests are still raving about. Every dish was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious, making the dining experience feel like a five-star event. The Hermitage Inn itself is a hidden gem—an elegant, rustic retreat that blends charming alpine décor with luxury. We held our ceremony outside, just steps from the Inn, where the breathtaking mountain views were the perfect frame for our vows. The staff were attentive, professional, and incredibly kind, ensuring everything ran smoothly from the first moment we arrived until the very end of our celebration. The reception in the Inn’s cozy yet spacious dining room was equally enchanting. The wood beams, warm lighting, and gorgeous floral arrangements created an intimate, welcoming atmosphere. The food was absolutely divine—each dish felt thoughtfully prepared, showcasing Vermont’s freshest ingredients. Our guests are raving about the seasonal dishes, especially the artichoke beignets! They truly made our wedding day a reflection of our personal style and vision. From the moment we stepped foot into The Hermitage Inn, we knew we had found the perfect venue for our wedding. The quality of the Inn’s service and the vendors they recommended turned into a simply stunning outcome - the venue's ambiance was truly transformative, elevating our special day to a magical, luxurious yet timeless experience. If there were any glitches on the day of the wedding, my husband, family and I didn't notice them, as the team executed everything flawlessly. The food was outstanding, and our guests are still raving. The people who work at The Hermitage Inn are so friendly and detail-oriented - we would choose this venue again in a heartbeat. In fact, all of our family and friends are still reaching out saying how much fun they had at our wedding and calling it the best wedding they’ve ever been to. The planner Gina is exceptional. Her responsiveness and experience allowed her to be on top of every detail. I had some pre-wedding vendor glitches and she was supportive and offered solutions which all turned out well. Gina and her assistant were extremely responsive and knowledgeable throughout the entire planning process. Special shout out to our favorite bartender Amanda and server Kristen - we love you! The custom drinks are outstanding and the options for gourmet dishes that change seasonally are amazing and allowed us to build a beautiful menu for both the wedding and rehearsal dinner in the wine cellar. The Hermitage Inn exceeded all of our expectations and made our special day truly unforgettable. If you are looking for a venue that allows for an intimate setting, comfortable accommodations, a customized experience and a great area for guests to explore look no further!
