Sylvanside Farm was our first and only venue visit for our daughter’s wedding. The beautiful grounds and historical buildings on the farm made it an easy decision for us all. The owners, Terri and Jeff, have restored their property with utmost respect to its historical charm. Having on site lodging allowed both families to spend quality time together and hosting the rehearsal dinner on site made for an all around relaxing weekend. The curated list of preferred vendors, which Sylvanside provides, was very helpful and each vendor that we selected from their list was top notch. Terri and Jeff were very accommodating and responsive throughout the planning process and I highly recommend their venue for your special day.

Enhanced with furnishings from around the world, The Tobacco Company Restaurant stands as a unique and elegant fixture in Richmond’s history. Venue considerations

  • Additional event staff required

My husband and I had a rough time finding a wedding venue that felt like "us" and were almost frustrated to the point of wanting to elope (no joke). We stumbled upon Tobacco Company as an option and were surprised as we hadn't heard anything about them doing wedding events. We called to find out more and everything fell into place. We worked with Erika who is the absolute best- she was so easy to communicate with throughout the planning process and answered all of our continuous questions over the course of the 8 months leading up to the wedding event. We held our reception in the downstairs lounge area because we had around 75-80 guests. My husband and I were both familiar with Tobacco Company as a nightlife spot, but we were blown away by how beautiful it looked once prepped for a wedding event. The food was INCREDIBLE to the point that our guests all raved about how much they loved everything. We could not have been happier with our experience. If you're looking for a venue that captures Richmond charm, Tobacco Company is the perfect spot. Thank you to Erika and all of the staff that made the day so wonderful!

The John Marshall Ballrooms

5.0

Richmond, VA
  • Up to 300 guests
  • Select services
  • Indoor
  • Starts at $6,500

The Hotel John Marshall opened in 1929 as the largest hotel in Virginia. Its rooms welcomed Elizabeth Taylor, Mary Tyler Moore, and Elvis Presley along with political figures such as Presidents Nixon, Ford, and Carter. After sitting vacant for over 20 years (save a few attempts to open) the building recently underwent an $80 Million renovation, spanning two years of construction to strip it back to the bones and restore it to its original 1920's grandeur.

Why you'll love this venue

  • Full catering menu to choose from
  • Bridal suite on site
  • Has a dance floor to dance the night away

Venue considerations

  • On-site parking not available
  • Lighting and sound are not included
  • Not for you if you are drawn to more unconventional venues
Absolutely, hands down the best venue. I would have my wedding there again. Maria and her stuff were the easiest of people to work with. Everything from the food and decor, to drinks and table settings; everyone worked to make it the best day ever. Having in house catering is underrated and more people should choose a venue like The John Marshall and Homemade by Suzanne’s. When you have a 2 in 1 great deal like this you don’t have to worry about coordinating things yourself, which is a huge plus when you plan your own wedding!! Both my husband and I are so grateful for everything. It made the day go so smoothly and stress free. The ballrooms being beautiful just make the whole venue come together. 1000% would recommend having your wedding here!!

Selecting The Estate at River Run as our wedding venue was the single best decision we made throughout our entire wedding planning process. It wasn't just a venue; it felt like home and provided the perfect backdrop for one of the most important days of our lives. From our engagement photos to our rehearsal dinner and the wedding day itself, this stunning estate was a dream. We opted for the Friday early access package in addition to the overnight package, and it made all the difference. We got access to the Estate at 2pm on Friday and my bridesmaids and I were able to stay the night before, which transformed the wedding morning into a truly relaxing and joyous experience. We were able to handle all the final preparations on Friday, leaving Saturday morning completely stress-free. The true magic of this venue, however, lies with Kim and her team. They are, without a doubt, the best in the business. Their kindness, professionalism, incredible attention to detail, and seamless organization are unmatched. They truly think of everything, anticipating needs before you even realize you have them. Their guidance and support were a genuine blessing, allowing us to be fully present and enjoy every moment. The venue itself is breathtaking, offering so many different and beautiful locations for all the various events. It is truly a place where memories are not just made, but treasured.
