About this venue

Available for events year-round, Burlington is a wedding venue located in Charles City, Virginia. The main house was first built in 1818 and has been recently restored and expanded. Burlington offers couples the exclusive use of the property for the duration of their occasion. Two outdoor ceremony sites are available, as well as an expansive indoor ceremony space that can double as a reception venue. The indoor wedding space in the Stables features exposed wooden beams and custom chandeliers, while the gardens and lawn offer views of the surrounding countryside for an outdoor ceremony. Both the indoor and outdoor spaces can accommodate up to 300 seated guests. The Bridal Cottage and Groom's Den allow the wedding party a private location to prepare themselves and relax before the ceremony. The Ice House Bar, an additional space converted from an 18th-century colonial ice house, can host cocktail receptions.

After the “I Do’s,” this spacious ballroom is perfect for mingling, dining, and dancing. This building is a beautiful indoor ceremony location as well

Main Bar – Featuring an antique saloon bar, four sets of barn doors and wooden columns. This becomes the bar once the reception begins Reception Hall – Grand ballroom featuring a grand staircase, wooden floors, multiple sets of French doors, custom chandeliers + sconces, and offers plenty of natural light. A perfect space for your ceremony and/or reception, as it holds up to 300 guests

    Absolutely Stunning Venue & Great Experience

    We truly loved our experience with Burlington Weddings & Events and could not have chosen a more beautiful place for our wedding day! From the beginning, communication was always friendly, timely, and helpful, which made planning feel so much less stressful. The venue is absolutely STUNNING and provides so many wonderful spaces for you and your guests to enjoy and create beautiful memories. The grounds and event spaces are so well maintained, and our guests could not stop talking about how beautiful everything was. The getting ready spaces for both the bridal party and groomsmen were perfect for pre-ceremony gathering, which made the day feel even more special and comfortable. Chloe, our venue coordinator, was wonderful to work with both leading up to the wedding and on the wedding day itself. She was organized, responsive, and made everything feel easy and seamless. The day-of staff was incredibly kind, and the golf cart service was such a thoughtful touch, not only for older guests who needed assistance, but also for us as a couple to get where we needed to be quickly and smoothly throughout the day! We were so impressed by the quality, experience, and value this venue provided, and we would recommend it to anyone looking for a beautiful, versatile, and welcoming wedding venue.

    We had such a wonderful experience hosting our event at Burlington Weddings & Events! The venue itself is absolutely beautiful—charming, well-maintained, and the perfect setting for a special gathering. The attention to detail and professionalism of Betty and her team are unmatched! She, Chloe, and the team went above and beyond to make sure everything was just right! If you’re looking for a stunning venue with an amazing team behind it, we can’t recommend Burlington Weddings & Events enough!

    Best venue ever!!

    Burlington Weddings & Events was an absolute dream to work with for our wedding. From the moment we first spoke with Madison, her communication was effective, efficient, and always pleasant. The venue itself was gorgeous, with a timeless feel that was worth every penny. Despite some tricky wind conditions trying to ruin our decor, Madison and the team went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect. They were so efficient in loading and unloading that we were able to get out of there early. While their services may come at a premium price, you truly get what you pay for with the amazing team and stunning venue they provide. We couldn't be happier with our decision to host our special day at Burlington Weddings & Events.

Yes, contracted clients may bring their own alcohol. All alcohol must be served in accordance with Virginia ABC laws and by a professional bartender, either through your caterer or other hired service for the duration of your entire event. We require a copy of the caterer’s ABC license OR you may provide us with a “day-of” banquet license individually procured from Virginia ABC. All guests will be served within the limitations of Virginia ABC regulations.
Yes, we have ample parking for any event size, including space for buses, limos, etc. We also have handicap accessible spaces.
The Stables at Burlington Weddings & Events is ADA compliant to ensure all guests are able to enjoy the event to the fullest. The Bridal Cottage and Main House are not handicap accessible. The property is equipped with brick walkways and our staff is happy to assist with the transportation of disabled or elderly guests across the venue.
No refunds will be issued in the event of a cancellation. We highly suggest you procure event insurance, which covers multiple circumstances, including cancellations.
