Intimate Garden Courtyard in the Heart of Downtown Richmond, Virginia.

Just off The Board Room is our intimate Garden Courtyard. Accessed by two stone pathways or the French doors at the board room, this is our oasis in the center of the city. Without permanent tenting, availability is seasonal. During the summer season, there is a natural canopy provided by the tree lined walls. The fountain and brick patio area are a Richmond favorite for spring and summer weddings and bridal luncheons. This space can be set up as per client requirements.

The Board Room offers 505 square feet of elegant function space and provides a unique setting for any meeting or event. It can accommodate up to 30 guests for a sit down meal, 25 guests for a buffet style setting, 40 guests theater style, and 20 guests for classroom style meetings.     The Perfect Historic Venue in Downtown Richmond!

    This is the perfect wedding venue if you want a historic venue and have a small to medium wedding! We had about 50 guests, and felt that it was the perfect amount for the space. The Linden Row team was a dream to work with! Alexa was incredibly responsive to all of our emails. Their partnership with Groovin’ Gourmets truly made our planning so much easier as the staff have great relationships and are used to working together. For all that was included, we felt the price was fair, however keep in mind that in the event of rain, you will also need to work with one of their approved tent vendors since there is not an adequate indoor space for a wedding. This is not their fault, but something we wished we talked through more in the early stages of planning! The room blocks were super easy to set up and we were given a log in to track who had already booked a room. For any guests that are staying in the hotel, it was easy for them to get breakfast on site. All of our guests said they loved their stay at Linden Row. There was another event in downtown Richmond the weekend of our wedding, so parking was a challenge, but again, it is not Linden Row’s fault, just something to keep in mind when booking a room or a wedding.

    A Historic Venue with a Magical Flair

    If you are looking for a wedding venue that captures the magic and beauty of a historic location, while adding in its own flair and charm, look no further than Linden Row. My husband and I are truly in awe of how stunning, romantic, charming, and timeless this venue was. Not only is Linden Row a historic venue that is timelessly preserved, but it is located centrally in the heart of Richmond, with all the fun elements it has to offer. Complete with its stunning courtyard, magical tree canopy, and rustic brick, the Linden Row is the perfect place to have a wedding. Beyond its inherent charm, Linden Row is convenient for guests and couples alike. Our guests loved that they could stay on-site for the wedding, grab a bite at Parterre during the weekend, and retire to their cozy room or suite at the end of the night. As a bride, the fact that we could do everything in one location was a game-changer. Additionally, I would recommend the suites to anyone who is getting married--the floor to ceiling windows, beautiful details, and historic elements make for stunning photos. In addition to the location itself, Linden Row's value is in its professional staff. Specifically, Casey, Alexa, and the entire team were invaluable in making our day a success. They worked flawlessly with our vendors, were extremely flexible throughout the entire process and wedding weekend, and executed our vision to a tee. I can confidently say not a single thing went wrong on our wedding (which is very rare) and in fact the wedding was even more magical than expected. Linden Row is truly a rare find. As a budget-conscious bride, I found its value to be incredible, and beyond that it is a place we can return to for years to come to celebrate the memories of a wonderful wedding.

    Amazing staff

    We had our ceremony in the courtyard on a Sunday afternoon. There was a storm earlier that day and the staff spent an hour or more clearing the debris from the area before our event. They had a rain plan, but thankfully we didn’t have to use it. The courtyard is beautiful and shady. We had our ceremony facing the fountain and were able to decorate it how we wanted. The entire facility is beautiful and great for pictures. Casey was very responsive and helpful throughout the process. Alexa was our day of contact and she was amazing! The space is not very ADA friendly but Casey made sure that there was a ramp and special parking for our guest that needed it. All of our guests said it was a beautiful space. Several stayed in the hotel for the weekend and really enjoyed it. We got a suite which was beautiful and large enough for the bridal party to get ready in. We had hair and make up come to us for 5 people and had plenty of space. Overall, it was great and the staff was amazing.

We have guest rooms that are ADA accessible. Please ask your guests to request ADA accessible guest rooms when making their reservation to ensure availability. We do have a wheelchair ramp that can be placed in the Garden Courtyard with access into our Board Room space and Garden Courtyard space. The ADA entrance is located through Miss Scott’s Alley. Please discuss with the Director of Sales prior to the event so that the ramp can be set up accordingly. We recommend coordination with your guests’ needs with the Sales Team in advance to ensure we can accommodate.
No. Alcohol must be purchased and provided by our on-site catering partner, Groovin' Gourmets.
We strongly recommend guests to park their vehicles in the city parking garage located 1 block away, as we are unable to advise on the validity of specific street parking spots. The City of Richmond actively enforces all parking regulations, and we strongly advise all guests to read the signs near your vehicle if you do decide to park on the street. The hotel will not be responsible for vehicles being ticketed or towed by the City of Richmond.
Yes. Our in-house catering department through Groovin’ Gourmet handles all private event food & beverage needs including alcoholic beverages. You are welcome to utilize an outside company for desserts should you choose to do so. For events in our Garden Courtyard, we require our clients to contact one of the approved tent rental companies listed in our proposal to prepare for weather related issues. Please know that if you do not opt for our ‘Full Wedding Weekend Package’ or add on to rent our space the day before your function or the day after your function we could rent the space to another client. In this instance our Sales Team will reach out to you to inform you that another client has secured the space and this could adjust the dates in which your tent can be set-up or broken down may require weekend pick up fees from your chosen tenting company.
We offer ‘event only’ valet parking for $10/car. Your guests can pay this individually, or we can master bill the parking to the client’s account. There is also limited on-street parking available. Please provide us with at least 14 day’s advance notice on whether you plan to utilize the hotel’s valet parking service so that we may staff your event accordingly. We also offer overnight valet parking for your guests staying with us for $18/night. **Temporarily Suspended, please contact the Linden Row Sales Department to see if this amenity will be back by the time of your event.**
Please keep all equipment and props in your sleeping room until 2 hours prior to event start time, when these items can be delivered into the contracted event space. In some instances, the Board Room may be a space to store items as long as there is not an event in that space the night prior to your event. Please know that we do book back-to-back functions and if outside rentals are being delivered drop off and pick up times need to be coordinated through our Sales Department and may require weekend pick up fees from your chosen rental company. Please coordinate with our Sales Department on this detail.
As an intimate hotel, we try our best to respect our guests and their desires for a good night’s rest. On that note, all events must conclude by 10pm. There is an hour after the time allotted for breakdown. We can be more flexible on this for clients that have booked 50 plus sleeping rooms including all of the rooms in our Garden Courtyard area. Please chat with the Linden Row Inn Sales Department on this topic should you anticipate booking 50+ rooms at Linden Row Inn during the time of your event.
Props such as bubbles, and glow sticks are permitted. Unfortunately, the use of sparklers and any form of fireworks are not allowed at Linden Row. We also request that rice not be used as it is a hazard to animals and we are an outdoor venue. Any items that require additional clean-up will assess a $250 clean up fee.
Candles may be utilized only in the Garden Courtyard. All candles must be placed in hurricane glasses, globes or glass votives. If no hurricane glasses, globes, votives or containers are provided for encompass the candles, they can be used for decoration but cannot be lit. If you prefer free standing candles, we recommend clients utilize flameless candles.
The extra décor needs to be reviewed by the Sales Manager in advance. We will not allow anything that could possibly be detrimental to our property. Should you want to hang items in the Garden space, we have approved vendors that can do so. Please discuss further with our Sales Department. Any damages caused here will be the financial responsibility of the client.
We DO NOT supply any table linens or napkins for events in our Garden Courtyard, but they may be rented from one of our approved event rental partners or organized through your chosen catering company. If you are hosting an event in our Board Room, please inquire with the Sales Department on linen requests.
As a historic building, our power supply has some limitations. Our hotel offers three 20-watt outlets in the Garden Courtyard and one 20-watt outlet in the Board Room. When events have bands, extra lighting or AC/Heating devices for a tent, it is best to rent a small generator to guarantee enough electric power if needed. Please inquire with our Sales Department to determine if that is necessary.
Yes, we do have space for a band if you are renting the Garden Courtyard. Bands typically require a bit more room, so the maximum seating capacity that should be expected would be 80 guests seated on the larger level in the Garden Courtyard with a dancefloor with additional indoor seating in our front/back hallways that are adjacent to the larger level.
The hotel does not provide coordination services for the ceremony rehearsal. The client is able to use the contracted event space for a short ceremony rehearsal when the space is not reserved for another event. Please inform the Sales Department of when you decide to conduct your ceremony rehearsal, and we can let you know if the space is available during that time. Linden Row Inn will not provide any special set-up for the ceremony rehearsal and cannot grant exclusive access to the space unless the client has previously coordinated the use of the space for the ceremony rehearsal.
Due to limited space, we are unable to provide a dressing room included in your rental. Many brides/grooms rent a suite for the evening before, as well as the wedding night, to get ready in. Our suites are filled with antiques, mirrors, and vintage décor, which provide great photo opportunities. These are not included in our group blocks but can be reserved with a credit card. We recommended reserving in advance as we only have 7 suites total and they are based on availability over dates requested at time of reservation.
This is a decision which is specific to every couple’s vision/theme for their wedding as well as their budget. In general, some couples opt to rent colored linens, tableware such as glassware, flatware and dishware, back drops for cake or ceremony, additional lighting, heaters, photo booths, and additional decoration items. Please do know that we do not include tableware, table linens or linen napkins in your event space rental. This is an item that can be coordinated through your chosen catering company or through an outside rental company.
We do not provide wedding coordination services. Please ask for our recommended vendors list, and we will be happy to provide you with some contacts.
For clients renting the Garden Courtyard, your catering team will pull the tables into the Garden Courtyard area and move the chairs around them. This should be a 30-45-minute transformation. Only the wings and lower level of the Garden Courtyard will be available for guests during this time. Usually, the master of ceremonies makes an announcement at the end of the ceremony saying "please exit to the back and enjoy the appetizers and beverages while the reception space is turned over." Please keep in mind that photographs taking place following the ceremony will need to take place elsewhere than the ceremony location for this reason.
