Why you'll love this venue

  • Multiple event spaces
  • Private area for the wedding party
  • Classic, vintage atmosphere

Venue considerations

  • Not wheelchair accessible
  • Venue feels large for events with small guest lists
  • Does not have a dance floor
I looked into countless wedding venues all across New England, but when my then-fiancé and I arrived at Scotland Fields for our venue tour, I immediately knew that it was the place we needed to host our wedding weekend. That gut feeling that this was somewhere really special never wore off, and I know that all of our guests felt that same feeling throughout the entire weekend. We also don't have enough positive things to say about the Scotland Fields team. My husband and I had a very specific vision about how we wanted our weekend to come together, and the team was nothing but accommodating to allow us to create the weekend that we envisioned. They were responsive when we had questions, helpful when we needed recommendations and guidance, and prompt to resolve anything that came up throughout the weekend (not that there was much of anything to resolve!!). We could not recommend this venue more highly, and will forever be grateful for the weekend that Scotland Fields allowed us to curate!

Venue considerations

  • Large venue, not ideal for small guest lists

We had the most wonderful wedding experience at Wentworth by the Sea and could not recommend this venue to other couples enough. Catherine Chapman and her staff were professional, communicative, and had our best interests in mind right at the start, from working out all of the last-minute details to staying in touch in the weeks following our wedding. They worked to ensure all of our needs were met – from food allergies to necessary photo breaks – and when we had questions or needed a last-minute change in our plans, they did everything they could to go above and beyond our expectations. The biggest takeaway we heard from our guests was how amazing the food and beverages were, and we couldn't agree more. At cocktail hour, the hors d'oeuvres were passed frequently, the appetizer stations were a hit, and the bar staff was excellent at keeping the lines moving. At the reception, there wasn't a clean plate in the entire ballroom. We also appreciated that the venue had great recommendations for vendors. From flowers to rentals and a band that kept everyone on their feet, we felt that we had the best team to support us and make our day look and feel exactly how we imagined. We could not have pictured a more perfect way to celebrate our love, and the staff at Wentworth by the Sea made us feel like one-in-a-million!

We had our perfect wedding day at Union Lake Orchard in September. I cannot say enough about this beautiful venue and the amazing owners! The barn was absolutely beautiful, the orchards and flowers in bloom were incredible. Guests raved about the venue and how rustic and timeless it is. We were able to do our ceremony out in the orchard followed by our reception in the barn. Karen and Kyle made our wedding planning experience so much easier than I imagined. Karen was very flexible, offering us to come by the barn multiple times to get ideas on how we would like to set up our decor, where we would like tables placed, etc. I must have texted Karen 50 questions throughout the planning process and she always responded in a kind and timely manner. Kyle helped so much with setting up and cleaning up. During set up, the arch I brought fell and broke and Kyle offered us an arch they had at the venue which was even more perfect than our original one! Karen helped to direct traffic and had guests move their vehicles to a different location so they were not in our wedding photos. I cannot thank them enough for all they did for us! We truly had the most amazing day and I constantly get comments from guests about the amazing vibes, beautiful pictures and what a great time they had! Thank you for making wedding planning so much less stressful!

Beech Ridge Barn is a magical wedding venue in rural Maine. The team went above and beyond to create an amazing August day. The tall purple flowers as a backdrop for the ceremony were breathtaking that day. The wooden bridge over the pond is perfect for photos. We used hanging greenery from the barn rafters, and the flowing white curtains draped from the barn roof added elegance The fairy lights throughout the barn created a touch of magic. We were so impressed by the level of detail and care they put into making our wedding day feel like a dream come true. Beech Ridge Barn is an exceptional venue that I would highly recommend to any couple looking for a unique and memorable setting.

Maine's only greenhouse event venue exclusively designed for wedding receptions and ceremonies. 2021 marks 72 years of Highland Farm’s history in Scarborough, Maine. The saying is true here: “you come as strangers and leave as family.” The Greenhouse and The Farm has been run by 3rd generation owners, Joe and Christine since 2008, but Joe and Christine’s involvement in the farm runs far deeper than ownership. In 2009, the couple was married in one of the working greenhouses

There is ceremony space both indoors and outdoors, space to put up a tent, and the great hall alone holds around 100 people seated, without crowding. Chairs and tables come included. The whole space was great for offering a variety of different spaces for our event: a room for eating and dancing, a room for the photobooth, a room for children's activities, a room for the memorial area, and a room for quiet relaxing--which my wedding party absolutely needed. I can't imagine having had a better experience at a more conventional full service venue--just make sure you have a team to help you with setup and shutdown and you're golden.

Our wedding here was INCREDIBLE and I couldn't recommend it enough. Every single person we worked with was so helpful, kind, and thoughtful and made this process so easy for us. Every single detail was executed perfectly. Every interaction was professional, timely, and warm. For the whole year leading up to our wedding, we felt incredibly supported and cared for. I had so many questions, and the Willowdale team was so prompt, helpful, and kind in their responses. As for the actual wedding, it was a total dream. The food is actually the best food ever... wedding food or not. It's been two months and everyone is still talking about it. The space is GORGEOUS and feels intimate and special while still accommodating larger weddings. Our coordinator, Julia, and the team worked with the florist and all the decor we dropped off ahead of time to execute the design and vision better than I could ever dream up. I was truly shocked when seeing the space - the attention and care to detail was unparallel and so gorgeous. And the BEST PART... On the day of the wedding, there was absolutely nothing to think about or stress about because Julia had it all under control. She communicated throughout the evening and made everything flowed seamlessly. As a result, we really got to just enjoy every single moment of the best day of our lives. All in all... we highly recommend getting married here. I wish we could do it all again. Willowdale and the team are so special. THANK YOU!! PS - the cookies are the best ever.

Getting married at the Stevens Estate was the best decision we made! The venue is absolutely beautiful, but the best part of the entire experience was working with Helen! Helen made the planning process so easy for us. She is so great to work with and so detail orientated. She brought all of our visions to life and made sure everything went according to plan. She created back up plans in case of unexpected events such as rain and really thought through everything. On the day of, we really had no stress because of the work Helen and her team put in. We had a unique wedding ceremony where we had a traditional ceremony followed immediately by a Persian ceremony, and Helen made sure everything followed our customized timeline. She even personally oversaw all of the Persian Ceremony decorations/set up to ensure our valuable items were set up perfectly and packed up safely. In addition to Helen, we also had a lot of other people with Stevens Estate who made sure our day was perfect. One was our day-of wedding attendant who was so attentive! She went out of her way to make sure my husband and I were getting everything we needed on the day of. Moraine Farm
Beverly, MA

Originally designed in 1880, Moraine Farm has been hailed as "the finest existing example of Frederick Law Olmsted's approach to planning a country estate" by pre-eminent Olmsted scholar Charles E. Beveridge. Olmsted created lawns, hedges, rustic stone walls, and a magnificent meadow – and collaborated with Boston architects Peabody and Stearns to design a massive stone terrace facing the lake, extending the shingle-and-stone house into the landscape. The farm took its name from a low ridge of glacial debris, called a moraine, which Olmsted used to provide an elevated vantage point for the paths and carriage drives that looped through 75 acres of coniferous forest, passed lake and meadow views, and climbed to an overlook on the edge of the 40-acre farm.
