“My partner and I reached out to Xiao for an elopement photo shoot after we got our marriage license. Xiao is always prompt in her responses and offered seamless communication. As newbies, we were a bit confused about the steps on how to get the license, although it was not her job, Xiao gave us many tips. Our elopement photoshoot date was a bit rainy. Xiao offered a few indoor photoshoot spot options. We ultimately went with the Library of Congress, and Xiao even helped us reserve the tickets. Xiao instructed us on how to pose when we felt a bit awkward. We had so many random funny encounters with other visitors at Library of Congress and they gave us many compliments. Xiao went above and beyond to mark sure the day was special for us and that the photoshoot felt personal and fun. My partner is usually camera shy but he eventually opened up. The photos also turned around super quick. The photos came out beautiful although it was a gloomy day. We picked out a dozen photos of our choice two days after the photoshoot and Xiao made the edits turn around super smoothly. Highly recommend booking her to make your special day memorable as well!”

“Natalie shot my engagement photos and they were everything I could have hoped for and more. The proposal was a total surprise, and I still can't believe how well they came out and how seamlessly she captured even the initial moments given how unprepared I was! Not only were the photos amazing (and sent to us on a super quick turnaround, even though it was over the holidays) but she also gave so much helpful guidance and was such a calming presence throughout the shoot. I am not always naturally good at posing and was very nervous, but she gave very clear direction and really put me at ease so that the best moments she captured were really natural ones. Our photoshoot was at the National Portrait Gallery, so she also worked closely with my fiancée to find lots of different art and settings throughout the museum —looking back at the photos now I can really see how her artistry and vision came to life! She expertly worked with the art to use dynamic angles and perspectives that were unique and gave us a lot of options. We also took a few pictures at the Christmas market outside the gallery, and even those came out amazing, which is so impressive considering it was PACKED and we could barely move! It’s hard to put into words how much it means to have such a special time preserved so beautifully. Since I was so surprised, a lot of the day went by in a blur, and I’m so thankful to be able to relive it again and again through the photos. I couldn’t stop crying when we got them and have gotten ENDLESS compliments since posting them on social! WE LOVE NATALIE!!”

“Working with Villa was one of the best choices we made as part of wedding planning. During the initial planning, she was responsive, thoughtful, and considerate of our vision. She understands that most people have never planned a wedding before helped us not only plan photos, but reorganize our reception to flow better. My husband and I are very photo shy, enough so that we debated on whether or not to even hire a photographer for the wedding. Villa was so great at directing interesting, natural poses that didn't feel forced or awkward in the moment. We opt-ed not to do an engagement shoot, but if we had to do it all over again, we absolutely would with Villa. During day of, Villa was extremely detailed and organized. She arrived early to the venue to capture photos and understand the space overall. She was very good about taking photos in a way that didn't interrupt the flow of events while navigating a fairly large and irregularly shaped venue. We received a great blend of editorial and photo-journalistic images that really captured the day beautifully. She has a great eye for wide shots, close up details, and artistic framing. Our wedding day started on a sunny day at noon and ended in the evening. Villa shot great photos throughout all the lighting changes during the day including many flash photography and low light shots after the sun had set. Any time i look at our photos, i find myself involuntarily smiling. She captured the classic posed photos AND the precious in-between moments where people are being their most authentic selves (the face my dad makes when he's really intently listening, the hand gestures my mom uses when she's explaining something and can't find the right words, the face my mother in law makes when she's cracking herself up, the face my father in law makes right before the tears fall, and so so many more). Not ONLY are her photos amazing, but she made us feel so relaxed on the day-of. Her style is totally unobtrusive, which is just what we needed. “We hired Steven and his team to do our wedding photos and videography. I really wanted a photographer that could capture the soul of the event, and Steven did exactly that. His photos are full of life, and I shared so many portraits with guests that actually got printed out or posted online. If you're looking for hundreds of photos of your wedding party that look exactly the same and for every planned second to be documented, Steven is not your person. If you're looking to hit the big moments but focus on capturing raw moments with timeless photos to get framed, I couldn't recommend them more. I never thought I would get a wedding video because it always seemed cheesy to me. But after watching examples of his work I fell absolutely in love with his videos. I've honestly had a hard time watching ours because it evokes so much emotion. Steven was collaborative and willing to go with the flow. We gave him the difficult task of being prepared for 3 different locations with totally differing lighting (indoor/outdoor plus shooting from high sun into the night). He puts an immense amount of care into his work and the photos are truly art that we will cherish forever. If there are specific things you want covered, be sure to share a list. When it comes to capturing the moments that can't be planned, he is on the case!”
