Order Your Wedding Stationery from Zola in 4 Easy Steps

Before you order your stationery, there are a few pieces of information that you’ll need. This includes:

  • Wedding date
  • Location and venue
  • A general idea of theme and colors
  • Accommodation details
  • Level of formality for the ceremony

Step #1: Pick a Design

We have many different designs for you to choose from. And, once you select a general design, there are many ways to customize it and make it unique to you. We divide our designs into categories to make it easier for you to find what you need. Some of our most popular design categories include:

  • Floral: It’s impossible to think about weddings without thinking about flowers. And floral invitations offer something for everyone. Bold blossoms are perfect for contemporary designs. Frothy sprays of delicate flowers are ideal for timeless, classic styles. Minimalist branches of orchids are ideal for modern wedding aesthetics. You can’t go wrong with flowers.

  • Rustic: Many couples favor natural, rustic designs for their wedding paper and ceremony. It’s hard to argue with the popularity of these gorgeous, whimsical options. From barn wood to mason jars and wildflowers, a rustic look gives you plenty of options to flex your creative muscles.

  • Modern: If a minimalist touch is more your wedding style, explore the options we offer for modern designs. Stark backgrounds with bright splashes of vivid color give you the contemporary look you desire. You’d be surprised by how magnificent a simple white card with black text can be. It doesn’t take a lot to make a simple yet stunning set of stationery.

  • Elegant: If you’re planning a formal, traditional ceremony, then an elegant design will suit you well. Our elegant designs come in a wide variety of colors from classic white to navy blue and everything in between. Flowing script and pretty flowers are the perfect embellishments for your elegantly designed paper.

  • Destination: Destination weddings are ripe with opportunities to work in unique and surprising elements when you design your stationery sets. Beaches, snowy retreats, luxury resorts, and more offer appealing backdrops for your invitations.

If none of these choices appeal to you, don’t fret. We have more than 450 designs with multiple customization options for each.

Step #2: Customize

After you’ve selected the perfect design for your wedding paper, now it’s time to make it yours. Our invitations and other stationery items have several elements that can be customized. These include:

  • Color: All of Zola’s invitations and other wedding sets have plenty of color choices to meet your needs. White is always popular, but don’t feel like that’s your only choice. Many of our options can be printed on dark paper, allowing you to include dramatic white or foil elements.

  • Foil: We can add foil to many of our paper items. Foil is a wonderful way to add sparkle to your invitations and more. And we have silver, gold, and pale pink foil to choose from to match any color scheme. Foil can be used for text and for designs. We love foil-stamped flowers on a bold background.

  • Paper Type: Zola has eight different styles of paper to choose from. These include: smooth, eggshell, recycled, pearlescent, linen, natural, double-thick, and triple-thick. The weight varies from light to heavy, and your other design choices will influence which option is best for you.

  • Silhouette: Our invitations and other paper are available with standard square edges or, for an elegant twist, with rounded corners.

  • Text: Don’t know what to write? Don’t worry. Zola’s experts can help you pick the perfect words for your stationery. Once you know just what to say, you can print it in ink or jazz up your paper with some foil.

  • Letterpress: If you’re craving that extra touch of elegance, you should consider letterpress for all, or part, of your wedding paper order. Letterpress printing has been around since the invention of the printing press. It’s survived because it produces amazing results. The process involves raised ink surfaces being pressed onto the paper. The result is a vintage look that’s both classy and elegant. You’ll need a thicker paper if you want letterpress printing.

  • Photos: Find the right home for your favorite photo of the two of you on your invitations and more. We love seeing your pictures and helping you find the right place to incorporate them into your wedding paper.

  • Envelopes: Zola offers free standard envelopes with your invitations. You can also upgrade to foil-lined envelopes for an extra touch of luxury.

Step #3: Get Free Envelope Addressing

If you’re on a time constraint (and who isn’t), let Zola save you precious hours with our free envelope addressing. All you have to do is upload your guest list using our free tool, select Add Guest Addresses when you order, and we’ll send you pre-addressed envelopes.

This service is free with save the date, invitation, and thank you card orders. This saves you time so when you receive your order, all you have to do is stuff and ship.

Step #4: Printed and Shipped

Finally, once you’ve selected all your options and placed your order, we’ll get your wedding paper ready to ship within five to 10 business days. All of your wedding paper also ships to you free, saving you precious budget for other important items.

What Wedding Stationery Options Does Zola Have?

There are many elements that can be included in a wedding stationery set. You may or may not need all of these. However, at minimum, you’ll want to purchase save the date cards, invitations, RSVPs, and thank you cards. The other pieces will depend on your ceremony and reception details.

Save the Date Cards

Save the Date cards are both exciting and functional. They are the first official announcement to your friends and family that you’ve set a date for your wedding ceremony. Zola offers paper and magnet save the date cards.

Both can be customized by style, size, and shape. Our beautiful save the date cards can be matched to your invitations and all of the other elements you select for your wedding stationery.

When You Should Mail Your Save the Date Cards

You should mail your save the date cards approximately six to eight months before the wedding. For destination weddings, eight to 12 months is appropriate. This gives your wedding guests time to plan for travel and time off of work if necessary.

Invitations

Your invitations make it official. They give your guests the final details, including the time, location, and level of formality of the wedding. They also request a response and generally include an RSVP card in the same envelope. You’ll want to order your invitations and RSVP cards at the same time, so you can mail them together.

One other important element you need to have ready at this time is your wedding website. You should have the URL and website password (if applicable) printed on your invitations and RSVP cards. Your guests will be excited to get your invitation and will probably want to hop on their phone or laptop right away to check out your website. Some will even want to RSVP online without waiting to send out the card.

When You Should Mail Your Invitations

You should mail your wedding invitations six to eight weeks before your wedding. This gives your guests plenty of time to decide without giving them so much time that they forget. They should already be anticipating the invite, since you would have previously sent a save the date card.

Envelopes

When you order invitations from Zola, standard envelopes are included for free with your order. You can also purchase upgraded foil-lined envelopes. These add a touch of glamour and help to protect your invitations from shipping damage.

RSVP Cards and Envelopes

RSVP cards and envelopes should be mailed in the same envelope as the invitation. You’ll need to make sure the envelope is pre-addressed and stamped, so they can return their RSVP to you as soon as possible.

Most RSVPs ask for the following information from the guest:

  • Will they be attending? If yes, how many people will be with their party?

  • If you’re having a separate ceremony and reception, you’ll want to know if they will be attending both or just one part of the celebration.

  • What is their meal preference? Most weddings include a standard option along with a vegan or vegetarian option. Some also include a gluten-free choice.

If you aren’t planning on using a paper card and instead want to funnel all of the responses through your website, you’ll still need to collect the same information from your guests.

The Deadline You Should Set for RSVPs

Most etiquette experts suggest giving your guests about four weeks to RSVP. If you send your invitations six to eight weeks before the wedding, this means RSVPs should be due no later than two to three weeks before the wedding. This allows you to have a final headcount for all of your wedding vendors.

Enclosure Cards

You may or may not include enclosure cards with your wedding stationery set. This will depend on the type of ceremony and reception you’re planning. Some common cards people include in the invitation include:

  • Reception Cards: These are generally used when the reception will be at a different location from the ceremony. Reception cards give information about the reception, including the address, time, dining information, and level of formality.

  • Maps: If you have many out-of-town guests, you can also include a map card with directions. These are also helpful if you’re having your ceremony or reception at a large venue and want to help your guests find the exact location within that venue. This information can also be helpful when included on your website.

  • Accommodation Cards: Many couples will reserve a block of rooms at a local hotel for their guests. Most hotels will offer discounted rates for wedding parties and provide you with a code to pass on to your guests. An accommodation card is a useful way to convey this information. Your guests will also appreciate not having to scramble to find a hotel room.

Change the Date Cards

As you certainly know, sometimes the unexpected happens. Whether it’s a family emergency, illness, or a global pandemic, the universe doesn’t always align with your wedding plans. When you work with Zola, we try to ease the pain of having to change your wedding date by offering you free change the date cards with your paper purchase.

No one wants to have to change their wedding date, but if you do, we have 20 change the date card designs you can choose from. We also have advice on what to say when you have to make unwelcome changes.

Wedding Menus

On a happier note, Zola also has menus. Wedding menus are an important part of a wedding stationery set and we have over 200 customizable options available. Your options include:

  • Size: We offer menu cards in 4 x 8 inch and 5 x 7 inch sizes.

  • Color: All of our designs include several color choices, so you can match your menus to the rest of your wedding paper.

  • Paper Type: To ensure a uniform look for all of your stationery, we offer the same eight paper types for your menus as we do for the other elements.

  • Silhouette: You can choose rounded or straight-edged corners for your menus.

  • Content: This is where you get to include the most anticipated details of most weddings. Everyone gets excited about the delicious food on offer. You can organize the menu however you choose. Many couples list all of the courses with appetizers, salads, main courses, and desserts included in the order they’ll be served.

Wedding Programs

People like to know what to expect when they’re at a wedding. Programs are a lovely way to communicate this information. They also make a valuable keepsake for your wedding album. Like all of the stationery options, programs can be matched to your invitations. The amount of detail you include is up to you, but programs typically list:

  • The couple’s name
  • The music for the procession
  • Name of the person giving the welcoming remarks
  • A reading or another speaker (if applicable)
  • Exchange of vows and rings
  • Music for the recessional

Thank You Cards

Once your ceremony is finished, you’re going to be busy going on your honeymoon and starting your new life together. However, it’s important to acknowledge your appreciation for your friends and family, their time, and their generous gifts.

Zola has over 350 designs for thank you cards, and they all come with free envelopes. Don’t forget this final piece of the wedding stationery puzzle.

When You Should Mail Your Thank You Cards

We think it’s best to let your guests know how much you appreciate them sooner rather than later. If you wait too long, you’ll get busy with your new life and forget. To prevent this, we suggest mailing your thank you cards within two to three weeks after the wedding.

Other Coordinating Elements You Can Include

The fun doesn’t stop with your wedding stationery set. Your stationery sets the tone for the rest of your wedding and we have the resources to help you carry the wedding theme throughout. Some of our favorite elements to coordinate with your paper include the wedding website, decor, and album.

Wedding Website

Building a free wedding website has never been easier. Zola’s user-friendly website builder has templates you can use to craft the perfect wedding site. And, when you order your stationery from Zola, you can match your website design to your paper. This gives you a cohesive, beautifully designed site.

Your wedding website is also your best friend when it comes to managing your wedding details. It can help you keep track of your RSVPs, manage your guest list, and build your registry. The wedding website is also a wonderful place to share special pictures of the couple and fun little tidbits of information about you.

Decor

The wedding decor you choose will be the focal point of the ceremony, other than you, of course. This is where you get to let your creative juices flow to design the perfect setting for the wedding of your dreams. Our favorite ways to coordinate decor with the overarching theme and colors of your wedding include:

  • Flowers
  • Dinnerware (plates, napkins, glasses, silverware)
  • Table linens
  • Centerpieces
  • Ceremony signage
  • Party favors

Wedding Albums

Finally, after the ceremony, you’ll want to remember every detail. To recapture the mood of your wedding day, find an album you love. You can choose a cover that matches your wedding colors and add your names for a special touch. Arranging your photos in your new album will help you relive each delightful moment (and Zola makes it even easier with our stunning custom wedding albums).
