About this venue

The Milling Room features seasonal, locally sourced American cuisine served in a stunning sky-lit dining room and lively tavern-inspired bar in the heart of the Upper West Side. The Milling Room opened in November 2014 and occupies the space which was originally built in 1890 as the luxurious Endicott Hotel. When the original hotel opened, it was described as "in all respects, the finest and best appointed in this part of the city." Designed by Edward Angell, who also designed several other prominent buildings on the Upper West Side, and built by Charles A. Fuller, the hotel was crafted out of Pompeian brick and terracotta, including a glass-roofed Palm Room where today in its place is The Milling Room. Directly down the street from Central Park's Hunter's Gate, The Milling Room sits in the heart of the Upper West Side. The building sits between 81st and 82nd St. on Columbus Avenue, diagonal from the American Museum of Natural History.

Where history meets elegance in our garden-inspired dining room, immerse yourself in a night under the sun and stars.

Our Main Dining Room is ideal for any and all grand events. Featuring modern exposed bulb chandeliers, historic iron columns, an exposed brick fireplace, beautiful hardwood floors, and 25-foot sky-lit ceilings, it's our largest space. Versatile and spacious, our Main Dining Room offers intimacy tucked away at the back of the restaurant. Yet, while being bathed in natural light, it offers you and your guests an expansive and airy atmosphere.

Winter wedding on the UWS

We got married at The Milling Room on 12/9/23, with our family and closest friends in attendance (109 people). The entire team did a great job throughout the event. We were thrilled with how everything turned out. It's difficult to find a restaurant on the UWS that can accommodate a traditional ceremony and serve 110 people for dinner. The Milling Room did it so well! We would choose this venue all over again.

Yes, we charge a corkage fee of $45 per bottle for wine. We have a two-bottle limit per table. However, on Mondays, we waive the corkage fee!

We do not have on-site parking. However, we do have street parking right in front of the restaurant and all around our block.

Yes, all our facilities are wheelchair accessible. We have an elevator in our tavern-bar for all guests who need to help to reach our second level. We also have a wheelchair-accessible restroom.

Your reservation includes six and half hours from start to finish, including the time it takes our staff to set up. Any additional time will be billed at $50 per guest.

We charge a $500.00 deposit when contracts are signed. This deposit is non-refundable. Events that are canceled within 14 days of the event date will be charged the entire food and beverage minimum stated on the proposal plus 8.875% tax to the credit card on file. Cancellations must be submitted in writing.

At The Milling Room, we simplify your planning process by offering a comprehensive package that includes a food and beverage minimum, covering venue use and staffing. NY sales tax, a 20% gratuity, and a 5% administrative fee are additional. This food & beverage minimum includes your choice of food and beverage served during the event, full staffing, tables, chairs, set-up, sound system, tear-down, and more!

Our building is located 15 miles away from LaGuardia Airport in Queens, New York. You can reach our venue by public transportation via the subway or train, or by private car or taxi. We can be reached, depending on traffic, in roughly 25-30 min by car when coming from LaGuardia. We are located 14 miles away from John F. Kennedy Airport. Through use of private car, we can be reached in roughly 40-50 min from the JFK airport!
