About this venue

From its historical beginnings as a stoic munitions depot, The Armory experienced a beautiful transformation to showcase a sophisticated ballroom, classy built-in bar and impressive commercial kitchen. Original element of the 1928 Armory construction and subsequent Newman Recreations Center were incorporated into the even space renovation to provide the perfect blend of past and (personal information protected by Zola)-barred doors used to secure armers and thick concrete walls reinforced with brick to accommodate the National Guard Armory and shooting range lend a rustic industrial aesthetic. Wood from the recreation center bleachers line the dramatic bar and the orginial hardwood floor was dressed up to grace the ballroom. The vaulted timber ceilings and exposed truss work allow the dazzling period chandeliers an opportunity to lend an air of elegance to the urban decor. Charm abounds in the union of classic architecture with a modern flair.

    I would highly recommend The Armory in South Bend, IN for your wedding needs. Having almost everything in-house (tables, chairs, food, bar, etc.) made the planning and execution process so much easier. Throughout the year leading up to our wedding, Megan Mars with The Armory worked with us on every detail to ensure our day was set up and went as smoothly as possible. She was extremely communicative and answered our 100s of questions. She was an expert at weddings but also in this space and working with vendors leading up to the wedding and on the day of. I am so happy that we decided to go with The Armory!

    Amazing venue!!

    The Armory was absolutely the perfect venue for our August wedding. We got so many compliments from our guests about how beautiful the venue was! Megan served as our coordinator and she was amazingly organized, detail-oriented, and quick to respond to any questions we had throughout the process. She was also very flexible, willing to accommodate to our preferences, and work within our budget. Table decor, food, drink packages are all included which made coordinating the reception very easy. The food is through Navarre Catering is delicious - lots of great options to choose from!

    Hands down the best around!

    We recently had our wedding at The Armory and could not be happier! From beginning to end Megan made the entire process easy and helped us stay on track in the midst of our busy schedules over the past 6-12 months. And on wedding day she was there every step of the way keeping things going and on schedule. The venue, food, bar, all top notch and nothing short of amazing. Can't recommend The Armory, Megan, and Navarre enough!

    Made Our Wedding a Dream Come True!

    Megan was amazing to work with and the staff was so attentive and helpful! We could not have pulled off our wedding without their help. As a wedding coordinator, you want a venue that pays attention to every detail and treats everything with importance. The staff here is welcoming and will bend over backwards to make your day perfect. The venue is stunning and the food was the best salmon and lamb we have ever had!

The Armory can seat up to 450 guests. If you'd like a dance floor, we recommend planning for 350–400 guests, depending on additional factors (e.g., DJ vs. band setup).
You and your wedding professionals have access to the venue from 10:00 AM to 12:00 AM on your wedding day.

Your Event Specialist, Kyler Pennington, Certified Events and Wedding Planner will be your main point of contact and will be onsite through dessert service. A Banquet Captain will remain until the end of the event to assist with cleanup.
Yes! • All food is provided by Navarre Catering & Events, our exclusive caterer. • No outside food or beverages are permitted, except specialty cakes. • All alcohol must be provided by The Armory per Indiana law. • We accommodate dietary restrictions and allergies. • Service styles include plated meals, buffets, and action stations.

Yes. To preserve the space, we do not allow: • Balloons, glitter, confetti, fog machines, or cold sparklers • Adhesives, nails, hooks, or pins on windows or walls • Open flames (candles must be glass-enclosed) • Indoor sparklers (outdoor use is allowed with cleanup by you)
Yes! We provide a curated list of trusted vendors who have experience at The Armory and other Navarre venues. You’re welcome to bring your own vendors, but we can’t guarantee the same quality of service.

The venue has one main room (with a bar area) where all events will take place. • Ceremonies are welcome in the space. • Rehearsals are not guaranteed due to potential events the night before. • The room will be fully set before the ceremony, and guests typically sit at their reception tables for the ceremony.
Yes, for any event serving alcohol or when deemed necessary by venue staff. Security is provided through the St. Joseph County Police Department. Ask your Event Specialist for current rates.
There’s ample parking available: • Upper lot and Farmers Market lots • Lower lot off Northside Blvd (recommended for handicap access
Yes. Handicap parking is in the lower lot, and all guests will enter through the main entrance shared with Ironhand Winery.
Once you’re ready to book, your Event Specialist will start your contract. The initial deposit is equal to the room rental fee.
