About Sage & Iron Creations

Sage & Iron Creations

Capturing special moments

I'm Ashley a Cleveland, Ohio portrait photographer specializing in dark and concept driven imagery. With 18+ years of experience, I blend mood, storytelling, and artistic depth while offering a range of editing aesthetics to match each client's vision. I hold a Certificate in Photography from the Hallmark Institute of Photography and am also self taught. When I'm not creating, I'm with my supportive husband and our 2 cats Pumpkin & Goblin. We love traveling, trying new things, and discovering great food. My passion for photography began in childhood, inspired by my mother's photos and 90s magazine ads.

I believe you can be professional while still keeping the experience fun and relaxed. I help build timelines for the day, connect with other vendors, and suggest budget friendly options to help everything run as smoothly as possible. I am always learning and developing new skills to grow my art. My main goal is to create images my clients love, build a strong portfolio, and provide the best experience possible from start to finish.

Although I was extremely excited and hopeful, my experience was much less than positive, it was horrible. I felt unheard, extremely disrespected, and uncomfortable. It felt like an unsafe space to be honest and express concerns, thoughts and opinions. I was accused of not wanting to move forward, although that was not true at all, I had just requested clear images to be able to make a selection on photos to be edited. The contract was cancelled and I was not provided a refund or the services I paid for, not to mention after blocking me, finding FB posts calling me out, mocking and insulting my medical issues. Very unprofessional and I would not recommend at all.

I want to clarify a recent client situation because several public statements have been made that do not accurately reflect what occurred. The session with Nicole went wonderfully. Afterward it went downhill. She expressed that she was self conscious and requested high resolution previews so she could choose her own poses. I explained that I do not offer high resolution previews or RAW files. My normal process is for me to review the images and use my professional and artistic judgment to select the best images for editing. Even though this is not my normal process we came to an agreement and I took additional time from my schedule to provide lo-res previews so she could choose her images. She continued requesting higher resolution previews and stated that the images were too blurry to choose from. I continued explaining that this is not something I offer. I eventually gave her the option to choose the images herself or allow me to make the selections as I normally do. She continued refusing to choose images and would not allow me to make the selections. The conversation then became focused on how I run my business and how I treat my clients making unnecessary remarks . At that point the communication became disrespectful. I remained professional and repeatedly tried to find a way forward. Unfortunately I determined that we no longer had a professional working relationship and told her, I was terminating the contract. My contract allows termination when communication becomes harassing or inappropriate and clearly outlines my artistic discretion and refund policies as well. After termination she continued contacting me accusing me of things now so I requested that communication cease and sent a cease and desist. That request was ignored and I am now addressing the matter through my insurance. She made claims that I withheld proper quality previews and posted to my statement on FB. The image I shared publicly was the exact same image that had already been provided to her to which she denied they were the same. I also want to clarify the claim that I mocked a disability. Nicole stated that the blurry previews were giving her a migraine. Referencing her own statement was not intended to mock her condition and I never said anything negative or mocking about it. I always try to treat my clients with kindness and respect. At the same time I have the right to maintain boundaries and follow the policies clients agree to when booking. I made multiple attempts to accommodate her beyond my normal process but unfortunately we were unable to reach an agreement. This situation should never have gone this far. The remaining matters are now being handled through the appropriate channels.

    Reliable and Professional

I’ve worked with Sage and Iron Creations on multiple creative projects. Photos are always beautiful and delivered in a timely fashion. Communication is clear and direct throughout the entire process. Contracts are fair and easy to follow. I feel confident knowing all the little details have already been considered. It makes for an enjoyable and far less stressful experience every time. On top of that, Ashley really takes the time to make sure the client or model is comfortable during the session. Ashley is a skilled photographer and a pleasure to work with. I look forward to working with Sage and Iron Creations in the future.

    Amazing photographer

From our first conversation with Sage & Iron Creations, we knew we'd made the right choice. Ashley was easy to work with and responded quickly to every question we had, which made the whole planning process stress-free. On our wedding day, they kept us on schedule and made sure we didn't miss a beat with the timeline. Their photos are stunning—they captured all the special moments that matter and made everything look beautiful. We got our sneak peeks back and couldn't believe how perfect they turned out. We cannot wait to see the rest! For the price, the quality of their work is unbeatable, and we'd recommend them to anyone looking for a photographer.

    The best

We had been following Ashley's work since high school, so choosing Sage & Iron Creations felt like the right decision from the start. She was available whenever we had questions and responded quickly and kindly every single time. On our wedding day, Ashley arrived early with a solid plan and didn't skip a beat when rain showed up—she even offered to go back out once it cleared to capture more outdoor shots. What really stood out was how she balanced being professional with keeping everything relaxed, which meant the world to someone like me who gets nervous easily. She nailed every photo we asked for, even the ones outside our normal shot list, and her pictures turned out absolutely stunning. We're already planning to have her photograph our future events.

    Wonderful Photos and awesome photographer!

We chose Sage & Iron Creations for our wedding and couldn't be happier with that decision. From our first conversation, Ashley was open about what to expect, made sure to get all the shots we specifically wanted and was genuinely helpful as we planned our shoot. On the day of our wedding, she went above and beyond, she even loaned me a fan to keep my makeup from melting during the bridal prep photos. She coordinated with my groom and wedding party so I didn't feel stressed or overwhelmed making a ton of decisions on the day of. Her eye for detail shows in every single photo, and she captured moments we didn't even realize were happening. The final gallery is comprehensive and feels totally unique to us, which is exactly what we wanted. We'd recommend Sage & Iron Creations to any couple looking for photographers who truly care about making your day special.

I go through all the images, pick the absolute best ones (no one wants any of their eyes half open) and edit them! From lighting, darkening, spot removal, smoothing skin, color matching, etc.
Every wedding is different! I make sure to over shoot so you get as many images as you can for your day. Per hour, I could have 80-200+ images shot. It depends on what package you booked!
I use Full Frame Insurance. If your venue requires a certificate of liability, I can send proof of insurance.
I’ve never cancelled a booking so far. In the very rare event that I’m unable to photograph your wedding, I’ll make sure you’re covered by one of my colleagues or my contracted assistant who is similar to my style. I’ll also provide you with a list of photographers from the many networking groups I’m in, so you can find the perfect replacement.
Depending on your package, if you book a second shooter yet I do offer them! I do not have assistants. Just myself!
