About this venue

Oaks Pioneer Chapel is an intimate, historic and affordable wedding venue in Portland, accommodating up to 75 guests for a ceremony with close friends and family. Built in 1851, it is the oldest original structure church in the state of Oregon and by design, its warm wood interior not only reflects the true Pacific NW style, it also creates exceptional acoustics, fostering a truly shared and intimate experience. Non-profit community-owned and operated, OPC offers a year round rate of $1250 for a three-hour booking, including a one-hour rehearsal. We offer convenient packages as well as micro-receptions in our gardens during fair weather months from June-October. The chapel, just 10 minutes from downtown, is nestled in the charming Sellwood-Westmoreland neighborhood near the Willamette River, Sellwood Park, and Oaks Amusement Park, providing a unique and vintage-style setting for weddings and elopements. Oaks Pioneer Church is non-denominational and we welcome everyone here.

We like to keep things uncomplicated and elegant here at OPC and the same is true of our Wedding Package. ~Our package includes a 3 hour Chapel Rental – Any day/season ~One hour weekday (Monday – Thursday) rehearsal ~Nondenominational Officiant Services which include a 45 minute – 1 hour consultation and personalized ceremony ~Fresh Flower Package which includes Bridal bouquet, Bridesmaid bouquet, Groom’s boutonniere, Best Man boutonniere, and large vase arrangement for the altar.

    Perfect ceremony venue

    This was the most beautiful little church. Affordable, well-maintained, and so easy to make the space look gorgeous. We are not religious, but we just loved the inclusive atmosphere. To top it off, the staff were so friendly and kind!

    Elegant, Historic, Memorable

    One of the best decisions we made was to hold our wedding ceremony at this chapel. It is the oldest church in Oregon and it has been maintained very well. The surrounding garden is beautiful. We had an evening ceremony, just as the sun was getting low in the sky and the light through the stained glass was amazing for photos. I always wanted to get married in a little while chapel and this place made it happen. The volunteers and staff were responsive and helpful. I would highly recommend this place for your wedding!

    Intimate Sweet Classy

    The Oaks Pioneer Chapel was the perfect venue for our wedding. From the moment we first inquired, the staff were thorough, immediate, and incredibly kind in their communication, answering all of our questions and making us feel at ease throughout the planning process. On the wedding day, the chapel provided a cozy, elegant, and vintage setting that truly captured the historic charm we were looking for. We especially loved the complimentary poster about the church's history, which was a thoughtful touch that our guests enjoyed learning about. Overall, the Oaks Pioneer Chapel exceeded our expectations and we would highly recommend it to any couple looking for a beautiful and unique wedding venue.

There is public parking next to the chapel and there is untimed and none parking allowed throughout the neighborhood.
We can offer micro-receptions in the chapel gardens during fair weather months. We have two options for micro-receptions at OPC, either a DIY or our can staff and provide gourmet cupcakes and champagne for your guests. We are open to exploring more involved events on OPC grounds on a case by case basis. Please reach out and discuss your ideas with us! Offsite, we have a sister property about 6 blocks away, The SMILE Station, which is the original local fire station. It is bright, beautiful, and affordable. Yes, our facilities are wheelchair accessible. We have a ramp at the side entrance.
January, February, March, April, and December
No food or beverages are allowed inside OPC with the exception of bottled water. Alcohol may be served outside on the grounds with the addition of a Micro-reception option. Day of insurance must be secured.
All wedding bookings include 3 hours rental + 1 rehearsal hour* All elopement bookings include 1.5 hours rental Additional hours can be purchased for $300 per hour *Complimentary rehearsal hours must be redeemed MONDAYS - THURSDAY only. Friday-Sunday rehearsal are available for an additional charge of $250
We are non-profit owned and operated. All of our fees go directly to the management, care, and preservation of OPC and into our local community. All booking fees for OPC, and all payments made including deposits, are NON-refundable. We will gladly change, reschedule and move any reservation for up to 2 years at no charge.
You are only required to get insurance if you are hosting a micro-reception on our grounds. However, we HIGHLY recommend Day of Event Insurance for our couples. It's an important day and you have a lot invested. Our experience says, it's worth it.
