My name is Makenzi but most people call me M.J. I am a Destination Wedding and Elopement photographer that travels all over the country to beautiful destinations to witness the greatest love stories! My photography style is warm, vibrant, and authentic. I love working with all different types of individuals (that become friends) and capturing some of the most unforgettable moments through my lens. I like to create a comfortable space for my clients to be completely themselves in order to capture candid moments that tells their story! My career is photography, but my passion is people.

The biggest reason why I absolutely love being a photographer is capturing those celebratory moments in life that deserve to be remembered. So you want to runaway and elope? Well, it definitely does not have to be a secret but it is a more intimate way to marry the love of your life. You can do this in many ways by getting hitched at the courthouse or eloping at your favorite National Park, we can do whatever you want because it is YOUR day!     MJ is AMAZING!!!

    All of MJ's photographs of our afternoon tea wedding are stunning!! I can’t stop looking at them! They look amazing!! She did such a wonderful job! I’ve been enjoying reliving the day and I love seeing everything from her perspective. She caught some tender moments I was surprised to see and I just love them so much!! MJ has a great eye and her timing is perfect!! I just love MJ's style. Looking at her website made me want to contact her immediately! The photographs have a magical glow, just like her personality. As soon as we spoke I knew I wanted her to capture all of the moments of our wedding. She is so easygoing and such a joy to work with. Her communication is quick and efficient and I never had any doubts about her arriving on time the day of the wedding, her ability to capture all the important moments, or how she would interact with us and our friends and family. She provided 48 sneak peeks so soon after our wedding day and then the remaining images about 6 weeks later, which was so quick considering Thanksgiving and the December holidays occurred during this timeframe. Thank you for making this part of our journey so effortless!!

    Magic in every shot

    I am floored. Not only was it a delight working with MJ. She. Is. MAGIC! She super responsive in helping me plan the surprise proposal of a lifetime for my bride to be AND she went above and beyond to get the shots, even doing location sharing back and forth so I could make sure to be in the best location for the surprise shot! HIGHLY recommend — have no clue how she's not booked out every weekend. If you can book her, DO IT! She makes magic happen.

    Windansea Beach Proposal Shoot

    MJ is just a phenomenal professional to work with. I reached out to MJ to capture my proposal to my girlfriend at Windansea Beach. MJ went above and beyond with her preparations and even got on numerous phone calls with me to help me with the planning to ensure I had the perfect location on the beach for the perfect shot. MJ got to the location early to scout out the area and caught our magical moments for us. MJ is the ultimate professional and is extremely kind and easy to work with. The quality of the pictures speak for themselves, but MJ's sincerity and care are what make her a joy to work with. I would 1000% recommend MJ for your photoshoot.

    Great experience! MJ is a professional!

    We booked MJMaiden Photography and MJ was friendly, calm, easy-going and her communication style put us at ease. She was prompt, professional, and delivered beautiful photos that perfectly captured our special day. MJ adapted to the fact that our entire wedding party wasn't present at the same time, she was patient with photo requests, and she helped everyone feel comfortable in front of the camera. ASAP! Typically, my couples book me 6 months to a year in advance. I encourage you to reach out as soon as possible about my availability once you know your date, even if you’re planning on a shorter time frame. Once we get deeper into the planning process we can make those necessary changes, but it's important to secure your date.
Some of my packages include a second photographer depending on the size and scope of your wedding. In most cases, I will bring an assistant along with me to capture some behind the scenes and to help me make sure that things run smoothly. Don’t worry, this won’t be an extra cost for you because it is included in the packages.
Most definitely. All of your final images will be edited based on my vibrant and warm style. Just note, I am all about being body positive and loving the skin that you are in, so I cannot do any type of body manipulation or major skin retouching. Please let me know if there is anything that I need to be aware of beforehand, to ensure that you absolutely love your photos.
No I do not, I prefer focusing on photography only, so you can get the best wedding pictures possible. But I do have a list of videographers that are incredible in there field that I can send over to you.
I am a party of one, so typically for weddings you will receive a 72 hour sneak peak of your photos. Then, your whole wedding gallery should be done within 6 to 9 weeks. For engagements sessions your photos should be done within 2-3 weeks. After your wedding gallery is complete, you can also expect to receive a USB drive with high-resolution image files, so you can share the photos with your loved ones and order prints.
You can expect about 50 to 75 images per hour of photographing. But keep in mind this estimate varies depending on your wedding package, number of guests, venue type, and other factors.
No. Because I want to give you photos that are complete and that represent your special day beautifully. I take the time to go through all of your photos to make sure you don't miss anything! I GOT YOU!!!
I do! Just let me know if your venue requires a certificate of liability, and I’ll send that over to them.
In my 8 years of experience as a wedding photographer, I’ve never cancelled a booking. If God forbid anything should happen with any unforeseen occurrences, I’ll make sure you’re covered by one of my colleagues or my contracted assistant. I’ll also provide you with a list of photographers from the many networking groups I’m in, so you can find the perfect replacement.
Yes of course! I am with you every step of the way! I have created special guides for my clients to help them with the planning process along with us corresponding through various means of communication to make sure we have a timeline/schedule for photos on your big day. It's important for me that you both enjoy your wedding day and don't have to worry about anything.
