About Anthony Garcia - Flamenco Guitarist

Anthony Garcia - Flamenco Guitarist

Flamenco Guitarist

In high school I fell in love with the music of Paco de Lucía and Paco Peña. I explored music listening to many, many different artists. After high school, I studied with flamenco guitarists Paco Sevilla and John Moore. In '91-'92, I lived in Spain for a year to learn the language and more about flamenco. Since '06, I have focused on music by artists like Vicente Amigo, Gerardo Núñez, Chicuelo, Rafael Riqueni, Manolo Franco, José Antonio Rodríguez, Paco Peña, and more. When performing with a vocalist, we play music by El Pele, Duquende, Estrella Morente, Miguel Póveda, Rocío Márquez, José Mercé, Remedios Amaya, Luís de Córdoba, and more.

Generally black slacks, belt, shoes and a black shirt that won't scratch my guitar.
I prefer to play tunes both solo and with others. I usually am expanding my repertoire with music I really love and that work well in a variety of settings. I have to be able to play solo, with other musicians, with flamenco dancers, and with flamenco singers, and what I play in each context varies in some cases a little and in others a lot. So I really have my hands full in terms of repertoire.
I am focused on the highest quality flamenco guitar repertoire and it takes dedication to the style. I do offer some classical tunes for couples interested in that. I work out the music with other musicians such as bass, cello, 2nd guitar, percussion, dancers and singers. I am the only guitarist performing these tunes with perhaps one or two tunes that might be played by another guitarist.
I generally do not, unless they are in my existing repertoire.
I do both, but I prefer to perform for a 2 hour block, which often includes ceremony and cocktail hour, but you may use the 2 hours however you like.
Yes, but they are usually limited to people willing to put the time into learning music in my repertoire. I do not play any music that is necessarily religious.
Yes, I have an insurance policy that is in force year-round and it complies with the needs of all venues/properties.
I am a flamenco specialist, but I do offer some classic wedding tunes as well as some Bach and a few other eclectic tunes that work well in many settings.
Generally 2 hours. This can be shortened and sometimes must be lengthened if I am performing as a group.
I provide my own sound and can provide 2 sound systems and microphones for the ceremony if needed. I can provide some lighting through my bass player if requested, but I need specific information to determine the amount of lighting.
For events within San Diego County there is no fee. As soloist, for events in Orange County and Temecula I ask $100. For Los Angeles, Palm Desert, and Inland Empire (Riverside) I ask $200. For Santa Barbara I ask $300, and for the Central Coast I ask $500. If we travel as duo, or any group formation, we'll find a travel fee that works for your budget yet covers the costs of food, gas, and lodging
I do not charge additional for taxes.
