We held our wedding reception at Five Boroughs Brewery in October 2023, and we couldn't have been happier! We opted for a combination of seated and standing for our 65 guests, designating the long banquet tables for our families to gather, and the high-top tables for our friends to mix and mingle. There was space in the center of the room for speeches, a musical performance, and reciting our vows before inviting everyone onto the dance floor. Our guests loved the Five Boroughs beers on tap, and they also offered wines and cider, as well as seltzer for non-drinkers. We had catered appetizer platters set up along the wall, and a food truck parked outside. There's also a ramp entrance, which was very helpful for my 93-year-old grandmother. The ambiance in the taproom was warm, intimate, and beautiful even with us opting for very minimal additional decor. The staff was kind, communicative, and helpful every step of the way--the care they took to ensure our wedding went perfectly was really evident. Our Five Boroughs wedding was joyful, intimate, and personal.

Even before stepping foot inside 87 Sussex it already checked a lot of boxes for us. It's a stylish restaurant with a quality menu, walking distance from our church, and not a wedding factory like so many of the larger venues in the area are. From the moment we starting figuring out logistics with Emily we knew we lucked out. Emily was responsive, communicative, and helpful in accommodating our requests and finding solutions to any issues that arose in the planning process. The day of the wedding was everything we hoped for and more. The weather was perfect, so our guests took full advantage of the space- indoor and out. After dinner the downstairs tables were moved to accommodate a dance floor. It was a fun, intimate party with family and friends. From the cocktail hour through the dinner, the food and drinks were elevated, delicious and bountiful. Three months later our guests are still raving about the food. It's not often that wedding guests compliment the staff as much as the dinner itself, but that was also the case at 87 Sussex. The bartenders, hosts, management, and waitstaff were in a festive mood and incredibly attentive to all of our guests. It all made for a special, once-in-a-lifetime celebration.

Venue considerations

Where do I even begin? We got married at the Grain House at the Olde Mill Inn on May 23, 2024, and it was nothing short of perfect. The entire wedding planning process was made easy thanks to everyone at the OldMill Inn and Grain House. They are very responsive, which is crucial when planning a wedding. My grandmother and grandfather had their wedding reception here back in 1957, so I knew I wanted to meet with them to discuss having my wedding there. It was the first and only venue we met with. After going on a tour and discussing the different packages with Lea, I was sold. They take care of your accommodations, catering, bar, cake, tables, chairs, etc. My wedding planning “to-do” list was cut in half! Everyone is so accommodating and they really work with you to make sure your day goes perfectly. So many guests told us how they never experienced wedding food to this level. Everything was DELICIOUS! Better yet, we actually got to eat as the bride and groom. The property itself is gorgeous. John was our Matre d’ and he was the best! He made sure we stayed on time, he ran food from the cocktail hour to me and my husband when we were taking photos, and he coordinated with our vendors so we didn’t have to worry. His efforts did not go unnoticed. Once again I had guests come up to me and tell me how amazing he is. I also had guests reach out after to tell me it was the best wedding they have ever been to. All of our vendors were fantastic but the Old Mill Inn and Grain House really did the bulk of the work to make it an unforgettable experience. The hotel itself was wonderful to stay in, everything was so clean and the breakfast was delicious. I wouldn’t change a thing about my wedding day, everything was perfect and I really have the Old Mill Inn and the Grain House to thank for that. I would recommend the Old Mill Inn and the GrainHouse to anyone planning a wedding. It really is the ONLY choice in my opinion. You will not be disappointed.

We loved hosting our reception at Talea Cobble Hill! The venue was incredibly easy to work with - from getting an initial proposal, to updating the proposal a few times as we changed our minds about dates and times, to picking the food and drinks. The drinks tasted exactly as good (maybe better) than when we've gone for drinks on a typical weekend. The space provides a nice mix of seating and standing areas. We were able to use our own music playlist and present a few speeches followed by cake cutting - all very smooth. I'd strongly recommend this venue for a low-stress wedding event!

Wild East Brewing Co.

5.0

Brooklyn, NY
  • Up to 125 guests

  • Starts at $1,250

Located in the heart of south Brooklyn close to subways and Atlantic Terminal, Wild East Brewing is an operating production brewery and taproom. Our beers coalesce traditional European techniques with modern American innovations to produce a variety of classic & progressive beers. We make a lot of lager with a smattering of west coast/hazy IPAs, sours, mixed fermentation & English-style ales, plus other unique seasonal offerings. The majority of our beer is low in ABV and none of our beer is overly sweet or loaded with adjuncts. The brewery also offers a range wine, cider, cocktails and NA beverages, all produced in NY state or made with NY state-produced ingredients. For faster replies, please visit our website link, submit your details there and our events manager will promptly get in touch with more information or help you schedule a tour.

Why you'll love this venue

  • Has a relaxed and casual vibe
  • Provides event staff
  • Has a dance floor to dance the night away

Venue considerations

  • Not wheelchair accessible
  • No on-site bridal suite
  • On-site parking not available
We threw a February wedding at Wild East on a Sunday, with a guest count of 120. We rented out the main Taproom and the Cellar for a 4pm start, kicking off with a 20-minute ceremony, then a floating dinner with two food stations, toasts, cake-cutting, and a dancefloor to keep things going. It was a lot to pull off, and Wild East Brewing was the perfect space to do it! Wild East has some of the best beers in Brooklyn, with consistent quality across styles, so there’s something for everyone. The space itself has the right balance of existing ambiance and opportunity to infuse your own aesthetic. One of my favorite parts of the evening was that we opened up the Cellar to be a low-stimulation room, a little quieter than the Taproom dancefloor, with rented furniture and a table for crafts. (This was meant for adults but it turns out the kids in attendance like crafts too – who knew?!) It also made for a perfect green room before and after the ceremony for the two of us to share a quiet moment alone as a couple. The events coordinator Casey and owner Tyler were very accommodating when it came to decorating in the space, allowing for our friends to take the reins hanging a backdrop for the ceremony and decorating the bar and tables with fresh flowers, foraged pieces, and candles. They were super supportive of storing things before and after the event, neutralizing a lot of the load-in/load-out headache. While communication was sometimes a little lax (they are a 7-day/wk taproom and active brewing space) everyone was truly lovely to work with and extremely supportive on the event day. The bartenders were super respectful and upbeat, working cheerfully all night long. Casey was kind, really chill, and open to ideas throughout the process; she even gave us a couple of four-packs when we came the next day to load our final boxes and cake out, which was a really sweet gesture. Casey really helped make our wedding day everything we wanted it to be, and we’re so grateful for all her coordination. Overall, the experience was exactly what we hoped for: the Wild East team let us run with our ideas, the staff were incredibly kind, and we were thrilled that our family and out of town friends had easy hotel accommodations and train options nearby. Plus, we were supervised throughout the night by their two working cats, Patience and Fortitude! Would highly recommend working with the good folks at Wild East. P.S. Hanging a disco ball and pin lights took the dance floor to the next level!

Angie, Sara, and the entire crew at Threes Brewing Gowanus were amazing the day of the wedding and all the months leading up to the day itself. My wife and I planned our wedding ourselves, and it would have not been nearly as smooth of a process if it hadn’t been for Angie helping us along the way. The venue itself was the perfect spot for a joyful and casual daytime wedding celebration, with a gorgeous backyard and great space inside to have a dance party. Angie took notes of every little detail my wife and I mentioned anytime we had a meeting, which ensured that on the day of our wedding everything looked exactly or even better than we had imagined it. We were able to drop off our DIY florals and other little things for the wedding the day before which made the day of our wedding go smoothly and we got to enjoy being brides without having to think about anything else but enjoying the day. The food and drinks were amazing on top of everything else, getting compliments from endless guests of ours. We are so happy we decided to have our wedding celebration at Threes and are profoundly grateful for all the amazing help we had from everyone who works there. We highly recommend having any sort of celebration here if you are looking to have a good time.

We had an amazing experience with Anthony and the team at Da Nonna Rosa. From the very beginnings of communication, it was evident that Da Nonna was so excited to have us and ready to accommodate differing requests. Our reception was about 65 people, including a couple of young children. The space was absolutely perfect for this size. Da Nonna also accommodated a live band for us! There was plenty of room for dancing and everything was so well-maintained. The food was amazing and we were able to accommodate guests with dietary restrictions. From every little detail (like playing our own Spotify playlist, to bringing our own decorations in) to the larger picture (like the cozy, classic Brooklyn vibe we were going for), Anthony attentively and with a lot of heart helped us plan the best party of our lives. We also got to take home two weeks worth of delicious leftovers. Thank you so much again, we will remember this night forever.

The Gran Morsi team will be in my heart forever! After not reading my contract carefully enough (READ THE FINE PRINT EVERYONE, DON'T BE LIKE ME), I realized I had booked the private event space for my wedding welcome party on the day of my wedding... and came to this realization as all our guests were already at the restaurant. Skyle appeared like an angel, and within 30 minutes she pulled together the event we had scheduled for the next day, including every appetizer in our contract and even the playlist we had sent. The professionalism and grace of the team and Skyle especially was truly unmatched. I can't say enough good things about this restaurant's food, its atmosphere and its caring and committed staff.

From the very beginning, we knew we were in great hands with Meryl and the team at Bacchus. They were incredibly responsive, accommodating, and easy to work with. They answered all our questions and made planning our 80-person wedding feel totally stress-free. On the day-of, everything was perfect, Our guests are still raving about it weeks later —it was genuinely that good. And not your typical wedding fare at all. The wine selections were also amazing (thank you Khaza). Everything was paired and plated so well. The service from the whole team was also flawless throughout the evening. Meryl was amazing at making everything run as smooth as butter. She even planned out a weather contingency for dining which turned out incredibly fortunate. We couldn’t have imagined a better place to celebrate our big day. Huge thanks to Meryl, Khaza, and the entire Bacchus team for making our wedding so perfect. We’ll definitely be back for many future date nights, and would recommend Bacchus for any and all special occasion dinners and events, weddings and otherwise. You couldn’t ask for a better team and space!

We had our wedding (both the ceremony and the reception) at Sound Fury and we couldn't be happier with how it went! The space was perfect for what we wanted, which was a short ceremony in the beginning, and then free flowing drinks and food with plenty of space for dancing. Dorian and Natalie were our main points of contact for planning beforehand and running everything the day-of, and they were both so warm and competent (and just generally cool people). When we started planning, we had only a vague vision for the day, which was ultimately just a big party with all of our friends and family. Natalie and Dorian really helped us bring that to life by meeting with us leading up to the wedding and collaborating with us on ideas that they thought would work well in the space. They were great with working with our vendors as well. We didn't have to bring in that much decor because the space already has a great vibe, and we even met with the owner beforehand and he was genuinely excited to work with us on reconfiguring the space to make it the best party possible. The day of the wedding, Dorian was so attentive throughout the entire day, keeping everything flowing smoothly and making sure we didn't have to stress about anything the entire night. The whole staff in general was amazing and friendly. The food and drinks were also fantastic, with plenty of options to choose from. It was the best night of our lives in the perfect venue, and we'd recommend Sound  Fury to anyone!

I truly can’t say enough wonderful things about Houston Hall. Carlita and Isabel made sure our entire wedding day went flawlessly. From the start, Carlita worked closely with us during the tasting to ensure all our guests’ dietary needs were accommodated. With several family members living with celiac disease, including my dad, this was incredibly important to us, and she handled it with so much care and attention. The food and drinks were outstanding. We chose a few specialty cocktails that were a huge hit, and our guests ravedabout the food. At most weddings, the food is forgettable, but Houston Hall completely exceeded our expectations, everything was truly delicious. Beyond that, Carlita and Isabel made the planning process so seamless and stress-free. They ensured we had everything we needed, coordinated with all of our vendors, kept the schedule perfectly on track, and made my wedding day feel effortless. I knew everything was being expertly handled and that we were in the best hands. The venue is such a unique and amazing place, and everyone felt so welcomed. Additionally, they provided a list of vendors they work with regularly, which was phenomenal. They went above and beyond in every way and delivered the most perfect day. I am endlessly grateful and couldn’t recommend Houston Hall more highly.

A sophisticated Mediterranean oasis. The decor reflects a modern yet warm connection with nature. Greenery projects from the ceiling, art deco-style mirrors adorn the walls, and custom woodwork art installations create an ambiance that is both cozy and sophisticated. The large glass windows flood the space with natural light, enhancing the earthy color palette of old wooden tones, greenery, and volcanic rock fused with geometric, 3D shapes. The semi- private dining space “ La Mascaret” has its own drinks counter, as well a custom- made undulating wooden sculpture mounted on a wall ( it’s meant to replicate teisting vines and flowing waves, natch) and a glass- encased wine cellar holding over 700 bottles.

Bottino was an absolute gem. The restaurant is gorgeous, the food is fantastic, and the people are wonderful. They don't up-charge for weddings, and were competitively priced. Our out-of-town relatives had no trouble finding it. They were extremely friendly to us, a gay interracial couple. Their communication was extremely fast and helpful, they assigned a person to work with us leading up to the wedding, and they also provided a fantastic day-of coordinator at no extra charge. Every single guest was delighted with the food, ambiance, and decor.

Meadowsweet

With high ceilings and white washed brick walls, the sun-filled room features original tile floors, dating back to the early 1900s. Antique long leaf heart pine, sourced from the Hudson Company and estimated to be between 300 and 600 years old, is repurposed for walls, tabletops and the uniquely designed bar with wrap-around seating. Lempert, inspired by 18th century scientific botanical engravings, collaborated with Flavor Paper to design wallpaper featuring the namesake Meadowsweet herb, and it’s seen throughout the restaurant in various iterations. Her photos, taken on the family’s property upstate, feature plants, vegetables and herbs and are also found throughout the restaurant. Bringing life to the space, a lofted mezzanine herb garden above the bar, which was created in collaboration with Brooklyn Grange, overlooks the dining room and features fresh rosemary, lemon thyme and mint, among others, used for cocktails.

Thanks to Blackbarn Restaurant and their team we had the wedding of our dreams. We could not recommend them enough. From the very start, working with Justine at Blackbarn made our wedding planning such a smooth and easy process. She was responsive, communicative, flexible and incredibly helpful throughout the entire planning process no matter how ridiculous our requests got. Blackbarn is a classic NY venue with a clean, modern and inviting atmosphere. We loved the beautiful views of Madison Square Park that can be seen from the tavern (bar area) in addition to the modern barn decor of the space. As we made our way to the dining room during our first visit, we were surprised at how expansive the room is - with a jaw dropping bar structure, beautiful tables & flatware, and open concept kitchen, it was impossible not to love. The farm-to-table menu features fresh, high-quality ingredients that resulted in delicious dishes that wowed our guests. Justine allowed us to fully customize our wedding package to fit our vision, and we are so grateful for her attentive service and the exceptional value Blackbarn provided for our special day.
