Sound River Studios was the perfect venue for our May 2024 wedding! We had not initially considered a raw space for our wedding reception. However, after meeting with Una and discussing the seemingly infinite possibilities for the space (along with soaking in the spectacular views of NYC), we were completely sold on the venue. We are so glad we made the choice to celebrate our wedding at Sound River Studios! We took advantage of the dock at the venue and had our guests arrive to cocktail hour by boat which was a unique highlight. The dock is also a beautiful spot for photos! Una was beyond helpful in the planning process and she was always available to answer any questions we had or to brainstorm ideas with us and our vendors. We would highly recommend Sound River Studios to any couple looking to have a memorable NYC wedding!

There truly are not enough words to describe how incredible The Treasury in Pontiac is. From the moment we walked in, it was hands down the most beautiful venue we had ever seen — elegant, timeless, and absolutely breathtaking in every way. The staff went above and beyond anything we could have imagined. Every single person was warm, professional, and genuinely cared about every detail of our day. Our guests are still talking about the food — countless people told us it was the best wedding meal they’ve ever had, which says so much. Natalie deserves special recognition. She cared about every single detail, no matter how small, and made us feel completely supported throughout the entire process. On our wedding day, when unexpected things happened — my dress strap broke and my mom had a last-minute dietary restriction — Natalie personally stepped in and fixed everything seamlessly. I never once felt stressed because she truly made it happen. Because of The Treasury and their amazing team, our wedding day was nothing short of magical. It was truly the best day of our lives, and we are endlessly grateful for the care, professionalism, and heart they poured into making it perfect. I cannot recommend this venue enough — it is simply unmatched.

They also have outside vendors that they work with frequently, such as hair and make-up and a florist, who are all wonderful. They are inclusive, and they are supportive of LGBT weddings. My now wife and I are part of the LGBT community, and we were treated very well by the entire team. We were able to have our wedding exactly how we wanted, and they worked with us on every detail. The staff at Chabot are incredibly kind and were quick to respond to our emails and questions. The space was incredibly expansive and unique for our guests. My husband nor I are from Michigan (from the Chicagoland area) and everyone kept asking us "why Michigan?" The moment they walked in, they felt the same feeling I did when I first toured the venue. It is beautiful, unique, personal and was everything and more that I could have hoped for. Our wedding as at the end of June and we were very fortunate that the rain held off and the temperature/humidity ended up being perfect. We had about 185 guests attend the wedding and I think everyone was too stunned by the venue to even care about the drizzle of rain that was happening. Not to mention, Amelia and her staff are absolutely amazing from the very beginning to the very end.

Bride’s Perspective Our wedding was a candlelit pizza party in the garden—casual, approachable, and elegant all at once. About 80 guests came. The ceremony was under the tree near the entrance. During cocktail hour, some guests (especially families with kids) enjoyed docent-led tours of the house. For dinner, we seated everyone at two long banquet tables on the bricks. While a lot of us were dancing inside, guests also gathered outside around the heaters under blankets we provided. The venue’s gardens and old trees meant we needed very little décor — we went with some DIY Trader Joe’s flowers & lots of candles. When the sun set, the glow from the candles and string lights provided by LAHM was magical. One highlight was cutting the cake at the end of the tables, looking out at our laughing, candlelit guests. We expected warm October weather, but the forecast dipped into the low 60s. Propane heaters worked perfectly, and combined with candles, lights, and blankets, the night felt intimate and warm. We live close to the venue and got ready at home, which turned out to be ideal—relaxed, convenient, and comfortable. Before planning, I imagined a rustic barn wedding, while my husband wanted something elegant. The museum was the perfect balance — and better than either of us pictured. Working with Lisa was wonderful. She was professional, responsive, and calm from the first walkthrough through the end of the night. I enjoyed checking in with her throughout the event, and everything ran smoothly. We trusted her recommendations and appreciated how she coordinated with all our vendors. We joke that if we ever got married again, we’d do it all the same — same space, same people, same Lisa! Groom’s Perspective We knew our venue search was over when we found the Los Altos History Museum. Lisa, the venue coordinator, not only manages a beautiful space but also brings clarity with straightforward policies and transparent pricing, which gave us freedom to design the day exactly how we wanted. The event moved naturally through the property: ceremony under the trees, cocktails near the house, dinner on the bricks, and dancing inside. It felt private but accessible, and the gardens were perfect for photos. My favorite moment was watching the sun set over dinner as candles and string lights took over. Lisa was fantastic — responsive, flexible, and organized. She met with our vendors in advance and made space to store supplies several days ahead of the wedding. She was the first to arrive and last to leave. She even helped pack our car at the end of the night. A few notes for future couples: there’s limited getting-ready space (we used our home, which worked great), tenting for rain can be tricky and expensive, and there’s no commercial kitchen. None were issues for us, and Lisa explained these points to us early so there were no surprises. Look no further than Paradigm Gardens for the unforgettable, joyful, vibrant, delicious and thoughtful wedding or celebration that you've always imagined! We had always admired the space for its lush, colorful, genuine energy, but we had no idea how special and personal the experience would be when we reached out to inquire about having our wedding in the garden. Starting at the beginning, Karen was so available and personable which made it possible for us to talk through our needs and hopes and find a solution that would work for our budget and vison. From that point, we felt extremely supported throughout the year leading up to our wedding with prompt answers whenever we had questions, phone calls to discuss any idea we had to see how we could make it work in the garden, and a menu tasting that was so much fun and SO delicious! One major point to any prospective couple, the food is SPECTACULAR! Made on the outdoor grill and brick oven, the culinary experience is a feast for every sense and seriously something our guests (and we) are still talking about! With rain in the forecast as our wedding approached, Karen and Sarah made sure every detail was thought of to ease our nerves, and we had a perfect rain plan that was stunning and perfect! The Paradigm team thinks of every detail so that you can create the day of your dreams. The garden flowers and foliage w ere just divine, the layout was thought out perfectly for our group size, the food was prepared and served without us having to think about a thing and we could just soak in our amazing family and friends, and the love and joy around us! The staff were such a delight and so kind and helpful throughout the evening! We had an absolute BLAST and will remember every second of the perfect day to start our next chapter together. Paradigm is the best decision we made aside from marrying each other!

The Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art is the perfect venue for a romantic, intimate, and artsy wedding. This venue is truly a hidden gem! I would highly recommend BMoCA to any couple looking to break free from the typical cookie-cutter wedding venues. The venue fee was reasonable, and the best part is that the fee goes back to the museum to support local artists and future exhibits. Bonus: Since the museum is open to the public, you can pop in anytime to enjoy the exhibits and envision your wedding. From the start, the team at BMoCA was fast, thorough, and incredibly kind in guiding us through the whole process. They partner with Three Leaf Catering, who provided absolutely delicious food and drinks and have it nailed down from A-Z. The museum provided beautiful rentals, including overhead twinkly lights that were perfect for the reception. Since there is so much art and a great brick wall backdrop, we saved a lot on decor costs. The art was on display for guests to enjoy, creating fun conversations and a stunning atmosphere. This is the perfect venue for a small to medium-sized wedding. While you can use the park space outside for the ceremony, we opted for an indoor ceremony that was beautiful and rain-free. Our guests had a great time and we had our dream wedding!

I found The Heights Villa through a friend who was looking for a quince venue. I had no idea they had taken the old neighborhood church and turned into something spectacular. When I visited the venue I fell in love, then I met the owners. Brendan and Cathy are nothing short of LITERAL angels on earth. They make you feel like you’re home, like you’re exactly where you should be. I toured several other Houston venues, some that were even double the price of THV and something wasn’t right. Every tour at the other venues made me feel cold and foreign, it just wasn’t right. Then I toured THV with Cathy and Brendan and I KNEW this was where I was meant to solidify my union with my husband. They made sure every decision I made was well informed and in alignment with my vision of my perfect day. There was never any surprise fees, lack of communication or shortness of EXTRAVAGANT luxury options for me to choose from. If I could go back in time and tour venues again, I would skip every other option and not waste my time. THV was a win from the second I stepped inside that gate and met Brendan’s smiling face. If you’re struggling to find a venue that treats you like a human being, puts your vision into play correctly every time, and elevates your special day from good to ANGELIC then THV is your venue. Don’t make the same mistake I did by wasting your precious time touring venues who don’t care about you, start with THV and watch your ultimate dreams come true!

Landis Valley Farm & Museum was the absolute perfect backdrop for our ceremony and reception! We knew when we were looking at venues that we wanted it in a barn setting and for the place to have a laid-back, fun, and casual feel. Landis was exactly that and more! Not only is the site maintained with the utmost care, but every building at the farm is so exquisitely quaint and beautifully rustic. Such a gorgeous place as a whole, especially for pictures during our big day. We knew during our very first meeting with Katelyn, our venue coordinator, that we were in good hands. Katelyn was experienced, professional, knowledgeable, and available by email at what seemed like the drop of a hat for all of our questions, big or small, leading up to our day. She was extremely organized and clear on expectations of what we should anticipate in having an event here. Like for example, making it clear from the day we scoped out the venue that it is an a la carte type venue, and we would be responsible for reaching out to all vendors that we would want to hire. She did provide a list of vendors that past weddings had used, which was extremely helpful, and we were lucky to find a few from that list, along with the others that we researched on our own. Katelyn’s attentiveness even the week of our wedding was so comforting. Along with our day of coordinator (that we hired from Fancy Peacock), Katelyn assisted in executing a check-in schedule for all of our vendors the day of, and everything went so smoothly! Landis does provide two attendants, one during the day and one night, who oversee the property - thanks, Dave and Elliot! Overall, if you don’t mind some DIY, and finding most vendors on your own like my husband and I, Landis makes for a dream come true wedding venue!

About wedding venues

How much do wedding & reception venues cost?

The cost of wedding venues varies, with factors influencing cost including size, location, guest count, and, most importantly, whether things like catering and rentals are included. The more a reception venue near you includes, the higher the cost. When considering venues, try to compare prices apples-to-apples. If one venue includes catering and rentals in their pricing and the other doesn’t, you need to figure out how much additional cost those outside vendors would be to make a true comparison. Before booking, be sure you’re aware of additional costs outlined in your contract, like parking fees and weather-related considerations (adding a tent, etc.).

What questions should we ask wedding venues?

When talking with a potential venue, always ask about 1) their availability and 2) their capacity. Some popular venues book up peak season Saturdays nearly 2 years in advance—if your first choice date isn’t available, consider your flexibility on day of the week and year. While maximum capacity is non-negotiable, venues might have guidance on what guest count will be most comfortable. Also, you’ll want to understand what is and is not included in the venue’s fees. Some include catering, tables and chairs, and linens, while others offer just the raw space. These venues are often less expensive because you are only paying for the space itself, and you’ll have to bring in outside vendors
