Hey there, I’m Elena! I’m a wedding and engagement photographer based in Bristol, VA/TN, serving couples across Virginia, Tennessee, and North Carolina—with a special love for weddings in the DC and Northern Virginia area. My style is relaxed, playful, and observant, and I help camera-shy couples feel comfortable in front of the lens. Before weddings, I spent a decade as a travel reporter, which shaped my storytelling approach. I also offer a seamless photo+video bundle with my trusted videographer, so your day is captured beautifully—without any chaos.

Awarded Best of Zola
We had the best experience shooting our engagement session with Elena. She made sure that we were comfortable and gave us confidence through teaching us how to pose. Her photos from the session captured the best light and were beautiful. Elena was a joy to work with and was very communicative throughout the process from giving tips, to being receptive to our ideas, and going the extra mile to find the perfect location.

Jaira + Jesse
Rating: 5.0 (4 reviews)
  • Photojournalistic style
  • Serves Trade, TN

We're Jaira + Jesse. We’re equal parts homebodies and avid travelers. We had a traditional wedding, and while it was the right decision for us at the time, looking back it could’ve been so much more intentional, focused on us + our relationship, and the things we’re the most passionate about. Because of that, we have grown to be super passionate and dedicated to helping couples create elopements and intimate weddings that are the truest reflection of themselves in the places that inspire them the most and documenting that for them.

Jaira and jesse have been 2 of our favorite people for a long time and to have them take our engagement and wedding photos was such a dream. The engagement pictures felt like just going on an adventure with our best friends on top of a mountain. And our wedding photos we were able to be ourselves and they captured all of the best moments. We look back at all our photos at least once a month and are always in love. They are truly incredible at what they do and I can’t recommend them enough. If your looking for a laid back, down for anything photographer these are your people too!

The Promani team was amazing to work with! Ben and Angel took the time to understand what we wanted our day to feel like and how we wanted to remember it and the images we received perfectly captured it. Angel was on board for all the untraditional aspects of the day and went with our flow rather than fitting us into a box. The gallery is beautiful and we're laughing and crying all over again as we relive the day. Our passion is crafting timeless, beautiful photographs that tell your love story. Whether in the quaint streets of Asheville or a dream destination, we promise to encapsulate the joy and intimacy of your wedding, leaving you with memories to cherish forever.

Awarded Best of Zola
We are extremely thankful for Erin! She came in as though we have been great friends for many years. She introduced herself and went right to work. She referred to the list we discussed of photos we wanted and added numerous additional suggestions that helped us to get some amazing wedding day photos. My husband is not one to show a lot of emotion on camera, but Erin ensured that we did actions that he was not focused on the camera, but just enjoying the moments which allowed us to catch some very beautiful and memorable wedding day photos. She took many different positions, areas, and lighting to ensure we were getting the best options despite the weather not cooperating on the day. It's important to note that right before our wedding is when WNC was seriously affected by flooding and catastrophic damages. Even though Erin lives in an area that was heavily affected, she maintained communication, and while we were worried about her safety, she reassured us she'd still be available for our wedding. If that doesn't say professionalism, I don't know what else to say! She was very kind and thoughtful, and her calming and positive energy helped keep my anxiety at bay on what could have been an an incredibly stressful day. When it came time to preview the photos, Erin and I communicated about style options, and Erin showed available options to ensure the photos were everything I could hope for. Overall, we couldn't have been any happier with Erin and her photography. She is amazing and professional and did a wonderful job. And the photos were more than we ever could have hoped for. If you are looking for a photographer for your special day, there is no doubt in my mind that Erin will exceed every need, want, and hope you could possibly have.

Mae Krell Photo

  • Photojournalistic style
  • Starts at $10,000
  • Serves Trade, TN

Hi! My name is Mae, and I live in Brooklyn with my girlfriend, our two dogs Apollo and Bia, her cat Gigi and my lizard, Basil! I’ve always been passionate about capturing moments as authentically and magically as possible, and as i’ve settled more into this career path, I love that i’ve landed in a place where I have the privilege to capture and preserve people’s love stories. Weddings and elopements are so distinctly and uniquely human, and it’s truly the biggest honor to be trusted to document them.

Awarded Best of Zola
I came across Mae’s work when looking for a photographer for engagement photos in Central Park, and I was immediately impressed with Mae and knew we were going to be incredibly happy with the results. Mae responded immediately to all my questions, day or night, and took the time to video chat with me at length twice before the shoot to discuss what we were looking for in our photos. Before the shoot, I had sent her a few examples of what I liked, and not only did the photos come out exactly how I wanted them, but were even more perfect than I envisioned. The engagement shoot itself was so much fun, and Mae made us feel so comfortable throughout the entire process, despite us thinking we’d both feel awkward getting posed photos of us taken. Mae truly had a vision for what poses, locations, and lighting would work, and the execution was perfect. Some of the feedback we got from our friends was that the photos looked like a magazine, and that they were “ethereal.” Even better, Mae somehow got us the edited photos back within 24 hours of the shoot. Her pricing is also incredibly reasonable given the quality of her work, meticulousness, and experience in photography, as well as the very quick turnaround time. My fiance and I truly cannot recommend her enough, and we are excited to work with her again in the future. She is truly an artist, and any couple would be incredibly lucky to work with her!

From the moment we reached out to Birchfields, their communication was quick, thorough, and sincere. Their attention to detail and ability to make us feel completely comfortable in front of the camera resulted in exceptional photographs that captured every special moment of our wedding day. Birchfields truly went above and beyond, taking unique angles and perspectives that allowed us to relive the entire day through their stunning imagery. When it’s hard to figure out which photo you want to print out and hang on the wall, you know you picked the right photographer! We could not be happier with the final product and would highly recommend Steve to any couple looking for a talented, professional, and personable wedding photographer.

If we could give more than 5 stars to Michael, we would. Michael is an amazing photographer and beyond that just a genuine amazing human being. When we first started looking for a photographer, we both went into it knowing that we are both incredibly awkward people when asked to pose. With this in mind, we started the big search - the one that everyone reminds you that will tell your stories for years. Enter finding Michael - his website mentioned candidness, and a documentary type of style. Two things that immediately caught our eye - not to mention looking through his previous work- which is just unbelievable! Throughout the year leading up to the wedding, Michael was incredibly helpful. He answered any questions we had and offered super helpful suggestions when figuring out the flow of the day. One tidbit that I would recommend to any bride is work with your photographer to create that timeline - a tidbit from Michael. He also managed to have a blog post for every type of question I had (and I had a lot LOL). A few weeks prior to the wedding, Michael met with us via zoom to go over the different elements of our days and to go over our family list (which was insanely helpful day of because we were able to knock those out)! When our wedding day arrived, he was there early to get everything set up and his presence just put everyone at ease. It felt like someone who had been part of our family friends rather than a wedding vendor - which was another element that was important to us: good vibes! Our wedding day and the pictures felt just like us - entertaining and full of laughter. We hiked through some trails for our first look, walked along a highway, and climbed rocks- which lead to nothing but new memories and lots of giggles. We both were really nervous about taking the posed pics but Michael put us in our natural element and just focused on capturing our story, which was a trend all throughout the day. None of us will ever forget the fact we forgot to tell him we had a 6 foot hoagie at the ceremony. We also had a blast using bubble guns for a photo op fake exit and learned there is such a thing as too many bubbles! Within a day after the wedding, we had a sneak peek - and we generally could not believe how AMAZING our photos turned out. It’s still surreal that we could look that good in photos, he captured exactly what we were hoping -us having the time of our life and starting our life together as husband and wife. CANNOT RECOMMEND HIM ENOUGH! P.S. Plus how awesome is it when your vendors are so cool that they feel like friends by the end of the wedding so you have to get a selfie to commemorate the hours of planning and talking you did to make the day one of the most incredible days EVER!!!

We had the BEST experience with Erin for our destination wedding! We live in Florida and we were getting married in Highlands, North Carolina. Having a destination wedding was difficult to plan, with us not living in the area but Erin made it go so smoothly. Erin was very professional, her communication was very detailed and specific. When I met Erin her presence was very calming, pleasant, warm, and a pleasure to be around. We received our photos within the time frame Erin had given us. I was blown away! Wow just Wow!!! They were all stunning! She captured every celebratory moment on our big day! I would highly recommend Erin to capture your beautiful moments on your special day!!!

I worked with Anna last September as a second photographer, and watching her put so much passion and care into her clients day was truly inspiring. She met every need, was a calming presence, kind, and paid so much attention to detail!
