Hey there, I’m Elena! I’m a wedding and engagement photographer based in Bristol, VA/TN, serving couples across Virginia, Tennessee, and North Carolina—with a special love for weddings in the DC and Northern Virginia area. My style is relaxed, playful, and observant, and I help camera-shy couples feel comfortable in front of the lens. Before weddings, I spent a decade as a travel reporter, which shaped my storytelling approach. I also offer a seamless photo+video bundle with my trusted videographer, so your day is captured beautifully—without any chaos.

Awarded Best of Zola
Elena's work is lively, picturesque, and stunning. She communicates efficiently, effectively, and in a timely manner. Elena went above and beyond to provide the best shots whether laying in the leaves on the cold November ground or climbing chairs and ladders for a better angle, she was phenomenal to work with. Her work captures not only the beauty of the day, but its story to build a compelling narrative. Thank you so much!

Jaira + Jesse
Rating: 5.0 (4 reviews)
  • Photojournalistic style
  • Serves Trade, TN

We're Jaira + Jesse. We’re equal parts homebodies and avid travelers. We had a traditional wedding, and while it was the right decision for us at the time, looking back it could’ve been so much more intentional, focused on us + our relationship, and the things we’re the most passionate about. Because of that, we have grown to be super passionate and dedicated to helping couples create elopements and intimate weddings that are the truest reflection of themselves in the places that inspire them the most and documenting that for them.

Jaira and jesse have been 2 of our favorite people for a long time and to have them take our engagement and wedding photos was such a dream. The engagement pictures felt like just going on an adventure with our best friends on top of a mountain. And our wedding photos we were able to be ourselves and they captured all of the best moments. We look back at all our photos at least once a month and are always in love. They are truly incredible at what they do and I can’t recommend them enough. If your looking for a laid back, down for anything photographer these are your people too!

Working with Portraits By Sean was an absolute pleasure from start to finish. Their communication style was professional, efficient, and genuinely kind throughout the entire process. The quality of their work was truly one-of-a-kind - their photos are gorgeous, superb, innovative, and incredibly detail-oriented and precise. The team of two photographers and a videographer was amazing, capturing so many special moments that will forever stay with us from our wedding day. We were especially grateful that they were able to capture our private final dance, which means the world to us. After our wedding, when our oldest son was leaving for bootcamp, Sean thoughtfully sent us additional photos that had been taken during the celebration, which are now cherished keepsakes for our family. I honestly can't say enough good things about our experience with Portraits By Sean - they exceeded our expectations in every way and we are thrilled with the beautiful memories they've preserved for us.

The photographer, Jonathan, and his assistant, were absolutely amazing. They arrived early, were flexible and really accommodating to our vision. They also really hustled! They took advantage of every spare moment they had to get additional photos, and kept us on schedule super tightly. They even carried around things like bottles of water for me (the bride) as we took lots of photos in the hot upper floor of the venue. Many guests also mentioned how beautifully the photos turned out. However, we did have an issue in which, due to an injury to the editor's hand, we did not receive our photos in the agreed-upon timeframe. Had we been informed of this delay ahead of time, we would not have had any issue just waiting a bit longer. The main concern was that we weren't alerted of this delay until after the initial deadline had passed. We did request a discount due to this, which they accommodated. And the photos did still turn out amazing!

We cannot say enough amazing things about Joe and Ashley! From start to finish, they were an absolute dream to work with. Their warmth and friendliness instantly put us at ease, making the entire experience feel effortless and fun. The calls before the wedding to go over details were incredibly helpful, ensuring everything ran smoothly on the big day. One thing that meant a lot to me was getting specific photos with certain family members and bridal party groups, and Joe and Ashley made that happen seamlessly. Being able to send them a list of must-have shots was such a relief, and they powered through it all while still keeping things fun and natural. Those photos will be cherished for a lifetime! And if you’re on the fence about video—DO IT. Having a beautifully edited video with sound clips woven in so perfectly brought our wedding day back to life in a way that photos alone just can’t. The way they captured every little moment, every emotion—it’s truly priceless. Joe and Ashley are not just incredibly talented at what they do, but they also make the entire experience enjoyable and stress-free. If you’re looking for a photographer and videographer who genuinely care, are highly organized, and will capture your wedding day in the most perfect way possible, look no further. We are extremely thankful for Erin! She came in as though we have been great friends for many years. She introduced herself and went right to work. She referred to the list we discussed of photos we wanted and added numerous additional suggestions that helped us to get some amazing wedding day photos. My husband is not one to show a lot of emotion on camera, but Erin ensured that we did actions that he was not focused on the camera, but just enjoying the moments which allowed us to catch some very beautiful and memorable wedding day photos. She took many different positions, areas, and lighting to ensure we were getting the best options despite the weather not cooperating on the day. It's important to note that right before our wedding is when WNC was seriously affected by flooding and catastrophic damages. Even though Erin lives in an area that was heavily affected, she maintained communication, and while we were worried about her safety, she reassured us she'd still be available for our wedding. If that doesn't say professionalism, I don't know what else to say! She was very kind and thoughtful, and her calming and positive energy helped keep my anxiety at bay on what could have been an an incredibly stressful day. When it came time to preview the photos, Erin and I communicated about style options, and Erin showed available options to ensure the photos were everything I could hope for. Overall, we couldn't have been any happier with Erin and her photography. She is amazing and professional and did a wonderful job. And the photos were more than we ever could have hoped for. If you are looking for a photographer for your special day, there is no doubt in my mind that Erin will exceed every need, want, and hope you could possibly have.

From the very first contact, he was incredibly responsive (super important to us), friendly and professional. His work looked great so we were excited - then we found out he was featured in Vogue! We were stoked. He was amazing to work with on the wedding day - punctual, friendly, got all the requested shots, and the whole bridal party loved him. We got our pictures back today - and they’re so much better than we could have dreamed of. It’s no wonder he was featured in Vogue - his work is artistic, candid, and beautiful. Thank you Caz for giving us such beautiful memories so we can relive the best day of our lives.

Hi! My name is Steve. I do visual storytelling. I’m married with three kids and in my spare time I record music and build things. I've been filming and photographing weddings since 2009. I love travel and getting to know unique couples.

Awarded Best of Zola
We hired Steven and his team to do our wedding photos and videography. I really wanted a photographer that could capture the soul of the event, and Steven did exactly that. His photos are full of life, and I shared so many portraits with guests that actually got printed out or posted online. If you're looking for hundreds of photos of your wedding party that look exactly the same and for every planned second to be documented, Steven is not your person. If you're looking to hit the big moments but focus on capturing raw moments with timeless photos to get framed, I couldn't recommend them more. I never thought I would get a wedding video because it always seemed cheesy to me. But after watching examples of his work I fell absolutely in love with his videos. I've honestly had a hard time watching ours because it evokes so much emotion. Steven was collaborative and willing to go with the flow. We gave him the difficult task of being prepared for 3 different locations with totally differing lighting (indoor/outdoor plus shooting from high sun into the night). He puts an immense amount of care into his work and the photos are truly art that we will cherish forever. If there are specific things you want covered, be sure to share a list. When it comes to capturing the moments that can't be planned, he is on the case!

If we could give more than 5 stars to Michael, we would. Michael is an amazing photographer and beyond that just a genuine amazing human being. When we first started looking for a photographer, we both went into it knowing that we are both incredibly awkward people when asked to pose. With this in mind, we started the big search - the one that everyone reminds you that will tell your stories for years. Enter finding Michael - his website mentioned candidness, and a documentary type of style. Two things that immediately caught our eye - not to mention looking through his previous work- which is just unbelievable! Throughout the year leading up to the wedding, Michael was incredibly helpful. He answered any questions we had and offered super helpful suggestions when figuring out the flow of the day. One tidbit that I would recommend to any bride is work with your photographer to create that timeline - a tidbit from Michael. He also managed to have a blog post for every type of question I had (and I had a lot LOL). A few weeks prior to the wedding, Michael met with us via zoom to go over the different elements of our days and to go over our family list (which was insanely helpful day of because we were able to knock those out)! When our wedding day arrived, he was there early to get everything set up and his presence just put everyone at ease. It felt like someone who had been part of our family friends rather than a wedding vendor - which was another element that was important to us: good vibes! Our wedding day and the pictures felt just like us - entertaining and full of laughter. We hiked through some trails for our first look, walked along a highway, and climbed rocks- which lead to nothing but new memories and lots of giggles. We both were really nervous about taking the posed pics but Michael put us in our natural element and just focused on capturing our story, which was a trend all throughout the day. None of us will ever forget the fact we forgot to tell him we had a 6 foot hoagie at the ceremony. We also had a blast using bubble guns for a photo op fake exit and learned there is such a thing as too many bubbles! Within a day after the wedding, we had a sneak peek - and we generally could not believe how AMAZING our photos turned out. It’s still surreal that we could look that good in photos, he captured exactly what we were hoping -us having the time of our life and starting our life together as husband and wife. CANNOT RECOMMEND HIM ENOUGH! P.S. Plus how awesome is it when your vendors are so cool that they feel like friends by the end of the wedding so you have to get a selfie to commemorate the hours of planning and talking you did to make the day one of the most incredible days EVER!!!

If adventure makes your heart beat fast, you don't mind straying from tradition, sarcasm and retro music are your love languages, and if you're down to frolic through an open field with me, we'll be best friends in no time. When you choose your wedding photographer, it's about more than hiring a professional to take photos — it's about connecting with someone who'll capture your day with intention. So be sure to ask all your questions, and make sure you *click* (pun intended) with the person behind the camera!

Faith is one of the most intentional people I’ve met — she was there every step of the way during wedding planning to support us and provided so much comfort and overall good vibes on the day of! I felt so at ease the entire wedding day, and I credit that to our incredible vendor team, Faith and her team included. I received so many sneak peek pics just under a week after my wedding (a few I got almost immediately!!), and it was amazing to be able to relive those moments already and share them with friends and family. Seeing how she captured these moments, big and small, makes me SO excited to see the final gallery!!! Her editing style is simply gorgeous — it was the main reason I reached out to her initially — but she’s also just a wonderful friend and human. When you already feel like you know someone, it makes it so much easier to be your authentic selves in front of the camera, and for that to shine through in photos. We both have so much love for Faith and are forever grateful she was there to document the beginning of the newest chapter of our love story

Steff was fabulous to work with. I struggled to create my shot list and Steff had prepared ideas and poses so we could match and follow her lead easily. She got us our sneak peeks so quickly.

I spent 10 years as a photojournalist covering news, sports, and political campaigns, and for the past 25 years I’ve photographed weddings with the same calm, observant approach. That experience taught me how to anticipate moments, work quickly in changing light, and capture genuine emotion without getting in the way. I focus on the natural moments as they unfold, keep portraits relaxed with gentle direction, and make family photos organized and efficient so they do not take you away from your wedding for long.

My wife and I used Roman Photography's services for our wedding in 2015 - we absolutely adore the the photos. Our fun and family were captured beautifully. We loved the work so much, we contacted Roman again ten years later to do our anniversary photos. Roman came out and did another magnificent job. He kept things playful and light (we're both uncomfortable in front of the camera) but still professional. I can't recommend Roman Photography enough!

Hi! My name is Sara. The last couple years of my photography career has allowed me to travel to new places which I have always wanted to do. Photography has allowed me to travel to 17+ states. I have been professionally doing photography for 4+ years. Somedays it doesn’t feel real I get to travel & meet all of you amazing people & capture all of these special moments for you. I never take it for granted. I love capturing all of the details, candid’s and the in between during your wedding day.

Sarah knows how to capture all of the right pictures! She’s very great at directing and knowing what shot she’s looking for. Has great/fun ideas and the best editing. She’s basically become our family photographer at this point! 10/10 recommend.
