“Our wedding weekend at Black Walnut Farm was nothing short of extraordinary. I had always dreamed of more than just a single day or a few hours of celebration. I imagined a full weekend surrounded by our favorite people, celebrating a love I had hoped for my entire life. Black Walnut Farm made that dream a reality in the most magical way. My fiancé and I got engaged in June 2024 and waited until August to begin planning so we could savor being engaged. Black Walnut Farm was our first venue visit. During their open house, we explored the property while enjoying signature cocktails and bites, and we immediately felt at home meeting Jim. His warmth, charisma, and genuine spirit set the tone for everything that followed. The estate is breathtaking. Acres of beauty, an enchanting forest, whimsical gardens, and a farmhouse filled with stunning, eclectic antiques. Within minutes, we knew our search was over. As we left, Jim smiled, saying he could tell we had found “the one.” The planning process was seamless and stress-free. As someone who goes with the flow, I was amazed by how organized and supportive the team was. Timelines, documents, and communication were clear and thoughtful. Sarah, co-owner and Jim’s partner, made the experience effortless. While the venue is largely a la carte, Sarah provides a curated list of trusted vendors so you never feel lost. Together, Sarah and Jim are an unmatched team. We chose the weekend package, allowing us and six guests to stay in the farmhouse from Thursday through Monday. Walking in felt like stepping into a dream. We were greeted with a handwritten card, a charcuterie board, and champagne. Fresh banana bread, muffins, and cookies were displayed, the refrigerator stocked with snacks, drinks, and s’mores essentials, and a bar cart held homemade old fashioneds. Every room included robes and fresh water by the bedside, and fireplaces were ready with stacked firewood. Our honeymoon suite was spacious and cozy, with its own fireplace, sitting area, and clawfoot tub. Black Walnut Farm even created a custom flag with our names and named a tree in our honor, a meaningful and unforgettable touch. On Friday evening, we hosted our rehearsal dinner for fifty-five guests in the barn, which perfectly blends rustic elegance with antique details and warmth. The staff’s pride and attention to detail were evident, and Jim, Sarah, or Lindsey were always nearby to ensure everything ran smoothly. After dinner, my bridesmaids and I returned to the farmhouse for a cozy night by the fire watching Father of the Bride. Our wedding day was pure magic. We got ready together in a sun-filled room, sharing laughter and happy tears. We exchanged vows in the forest, a fairytale setting. The celebration continued in the barn with cocktail hour, dinner, dancing, and dessert. Guests loved the barn loft, complete with a photo booth and a phone for leaving messages. Although the weather prevented our planned bonfire hour, Sarah and Jim graciously extended our time in the barn, ensuring the night remained just as special. This weekend was the best experience of our lives. Our friends and family still talk about how incredible it was. We are endlessly grateful to Sarah, Jim, Miss Lily, and the entire Black Walnut Farm team for creating a wedding weekend we will cherish forever.”

“We loved Blenheim Hill farm when we first saw it, which was under a foot of fresh snow, but when we returned for our wedding day (8/1/26) and saw everything in bloom we loved it even more. The place is beautiful, remote and relaxing. There are no sounds of traffic and the views are incredible. When guests starting arriving on Friday night everybody just kept asking us “where did you find this place??” Its truly beautiful! An idyllic place to get married. The Farmhouse, where we had close family stay for the weekend, is charming and comfortable. The kids loved playing with the goats, exploring and swimming in the lake. The adults relaxed and walked the property. The staff were helpful and fantastic the entire time. Leading up to the wedding, the venue had an online portal that organized lots of our wedding details which helped immensely with planning. The staff were very helpful with any questions we had. The food for the rehearsal dinner, wedding night, and brunch were all fantastic. They went above and beyond what most people expect when attending a wedding. Many people told us it was the best food they’ve had at a wedding. In fact, many people told us it was the best wedding they had ever been to! (We agree) A side note, we were worried about guests finding accommodations for the wedding, but everyone had a pretty easy time finding AirBNBs/local bed and breakfasts really close by. When we got engaged and started planning our wedding, we heard many people say your wedding is “just one day,” but it really is much more than that: it's the months of planning leading up to it and all the times you think back on it in the years to come too. We really enjoyed doing all the wedding planning with Blenheim's help and the wedding weekend was perfect. We will cherish the memories of our wedding for the rest of our lives. We’re sad that it's over, but if you want to invite us to your wedding so we can go back, we accept!”

Venue considerations

  • Does not have a dance floor
  • Venue feels large for events with small guest lists

“The Outlier Inn is truly one-of-a-kind, offering so much more than your typical wedding venue. From the start, we knew it was something special. One of our favorite aspects was being able to bring all of our loved ones together in one place for the entire weekend, creating a unique experience where our family and friends were “trapped” in the best way—celebrating and bonding without distractions. If you’re someone who loves to party under the stars, and you enjoy envisioning and creating fun, personalized spaces, this is the venue for you. The property itself is a hidden gem, full of surprises at every turn. There’s so much to explore, from the charming tiny houses scattered throughout, to the inviting homemade hot tub and peaceful sauna, to the quirky hidden thrift shop/barn. We held our ceremony in the newly added amphitheater nestled in the woods—an intimate space surrounded by towering trees, creating a perfect natural backdrop for our vows. We were lucky with beautiful September weather, and the sound of our friends laughing and exploring the grounds will forever be a cherished memory. Josh, the owner of The Outlier, truly made the entire experience unforgettable. From the moment we met him, we knew this was “our” place. He is warm, welcoming, and incredibly accommodating. During our first tour of the property, Josh even let us bottle-feed his adorable baby goat, “Frip”—a moment that will forever hold a special place in our hearts. Leading up to the wedding, Josh was always available to offer guidance and advice, and throughout the weekend, his calm presence was a steady source of reassurance. Whether he was setting up bonfires, handling speakers and microphones, or just checking in on us, Josh ensured everything ran smoothly, allowing us to fully immerse ourselves in every moment of our celebration. The only downside to having our wedding at The Outlier Inn is that we almost want to keep it a secret—it’s so magical, we’d love to keep it all to ourselves! But in all honesty, The Outlier Inn is an extraordinary venue, and we can’t imagine getting married anywhere else. Thank you, Josh, for making our weekend so unforgettable!”

“The Villa Roma truly offers a fully customizable bridal package. We were allowed to bring our own decor as well as borrow some too. You have several choices on ceremony locations. The Villas are a bit outdated and we had some plumbing issues, however maintenance was quick to respond. The reception hall is very nice and large, you can fit 100 people no problem. Again, fully customizing settings, decor and table placements. Cheryl is the events coordinator for the entire resort. Since she is in charge of all the events, she definitely has a full plate. If you are looking for a day of coordinator that can walk you through each second of the day, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to hire outside the Villa. If you are a type A planner, it would be my recommendation that you frequently email and coordinator with the team at the Villa. Cheryl was very accommodating and even moved our ceremony location an hour before starting, due to concerns with the weather. Alicia, who is the head bartender, stepped in and helped decorate, helped direct staff during the wedding day and she made the best signature drinks ever! She even popped in at our after party for more congrats! If you’re organized and know what you want, the possibilities are endless here. The views are beautiful, the food fantastic and the wait staff very helpful. I would recommend this venue.”

“As a wedding planner and designer based in NYC for over a decade, I’ve seen a lot of venues—and this one is truly special. The barn strikes that rare balance between thoughtful design and genuine warmth. It has a refined, NYC-designer sensibility—elevated, intentional, never kitschy—while still feeling relaxed, cozy, and grounded in that unmistakable Hudson Valley charm. The space itself feels like a home rather than a rental: intimate, eclectic, and quietly magical. It creates an atmosphere that immediately puts people at ease and makes celebrations feel meaningful and personal. What truly sets this venue apart is that it’s family-owned and operated, and you feel that care in every interaction. The owners are communicative, accommodating, and consistently go above and beyond to support couples and vendors alike. From a professional standpoint, that level of partnership is invaluable. On top of all of this, the venue is refreshingly budget-friendly for the experience it offers—something that’s increasingly rare. It’s a true hidden gem, and couples who find it are incredibly lucky. “The very first time that my husband and I saw Sylvan Ridge Farm, we knew that it was where we wanted our wedding to be! The barn is absolutely beautiful and the property is incredible. Having the ability to have family and friends stay on property and celebrate for a few days was a special bonus. There was more than enough space for the two parties to be separate and get ready for the day. The ceremony space (both spaces, actually) was beautiful and well maintained. Working with Alyssa was an absolute dream, she made sure that we had everything that we needed and wanted throughout the day. If I could relive this weekend, I would do it over and over for the rest of my life.”

“Where do I even start? Our wedding at The Barn at Villa Venezia was truly a dream come true. From the venue itself, to the food, to the entire team behind it, everything exceeded what we had imagined. I genuinely would not have changed a single thing about our day. The entire team at The Barn is incredible. We worked most closely with Sabrina and Nicole throughout the planning process, and they are absolute rockstars. From all of the pre-wedding prep through the wedding day and beyond, they made everything feel so seamless. They were organized, responsive, incredibly helpful and always made us feel like we were in good hands. On the wedding day, Nicole was with us for the entire day, making sure there were no hiccups, checking that we had everything we needed and handling so many little details behind the scenes so we could just enjoy ourselves. The food was UNREAL. Our guests could not stop talking about it (and neither could we). Everything was incredible from start to finish, and the service was just as impressive. Their entire staff worked together so seamlessly, and you could tell everyone knew exactly what needed to happen and when. And then there’s the venue itself. The vibes were immaculate, the ambiance was perfect, and the space is just STUNNING. Every part of it photographed beautifully and created exactly the atmosphere we wanted for our wedding. What stood out to us most, though, was how much this team genuinely cares about their couples. You can tell they are invested in making sure your day feels special and that you are actually able to enjoy it. We never felt like just another wedding on the calendar. We felt supported, taken care of and completely confident in the team from beginning to end. The Barn at Villa Venezia is truly the best venue in the Hudson Valley!”

“TLW was the absolute best venue for our wedding. They let us bring a bouncy house obstacle course onto the property, and even had a vendor recommendation. Throughout our literal hundreds of emails back-and-forth, they were professional, friendly, and prompt in their reply. Our guests had so much fun, and TLW did a fantastic job accommodating our guests' various dietary restrictions. TLW also did a great job communicating with our other vendors. It was a dream to work with TLW - the food was delicious, all of their staff were friendly and welcoming, and the venue itself cannot be beat. The kids (and adults) had a wonderful time enjoying the goats on site, the swimming pool, and the go-karts! The go-karts are an absolute must-have add-on to any wedding, it is all anyone could talk about afterwards. It was so much fun! I also caught my first fish during my wedding weekend, and had an absolute blast! Thank you so much Justin for being such a great communicator and venue partner!”

“Our daughter and son-in-law had their wedding at City Winery Hudson Valley a few weeks ago and we are thrilled with our entire experience! We worked with Lerika from the very beginning when we first toured as our Sales Manager and communications with her throughout the process were perfect. Lerika also worked extremely well with our planner (Lauren F. from Wild Blooms – recommended by CW) and the two of them made sure all details were perfect. When we first toured CW, we loved all the different spaces and, due to a rainy wedding day, were very grateful for the many options. Although we intended for the ceremony to be by the river, the indoor space was beautiful and provided the perfect backdrop made even more beautiful with white flowers that popped against the brick and windows. And having cocktail hour within the bar area and restaurant, which they closed for us, made our event very private and allowed for sufficient seating during that time. The buttlered hors d’oeuvres were plentiful and the stations constantly replenished so they always looked stocked. Service was incredible throughout the day and our guests appeared to be served dinner all at once, and wait staff were very attentive. There were never lines at the bar during cocktail hour or the reception which was helped by the table wine service. We chose the Steak Bavette for our beef entrée and I was concerned the 6 oz standard portion would be too small so we upgraded to 8 oz which ended up being huge! And all the food served throughout the day was delicious! Lerika was attentive throughout the wedding day as was Tiffany, the CW event coordinator, who we did not meet until that day. Lerika and Tiffany anticipated our needs and made sure we were all taken care of throughout the day. Security identified a potential issue with one of our guests who had too much to drink and discreetly and professionally addressed it without our even knowing about it. We had more than 160 guests in attendance and the space was big enough to ensure it was easy to move around the tables while still feeling intimate. I love that we were able to place only two rows of tables on each side of the dance floor so everyone was close to the activity and never far apart. Our guests danced throughout the wedding which made it very fun. With recommendations from CW, we selected a florist (Laruen P. from Wild Blooms) and bistro lighting from Fox Haus that transformed the space and made it so beautiful. All the photos are absolutely gorgeous even though most were taken indoors. We also reserved the boiler bar for the guys to get ready which was fun for them and the Nest for the ladies which was spacious and beautiful. And lastly, we hosted an afterparty in the boiler bar for the friends of the bride and groom which was perfect to give them extra time with their close friends! CW hosts a combined food tasting for all couples with scheduled weddings and it gave us a great glimpse of what the actual wedding day would be like with plenty of special and personal touches for the bride and groom. I cannot say enough about how wonderful our experience was, and we continue to receive so many compliments from our guests! It was fun, it was beautiful, it was delicious, it was perfectly what our daughter and son-in-law envisioned!”

They have several different packages that you can choose from which allowed us to find something that truly worked for us. We ended up having around 115 guests for the wedding and the space was just perfect! We had been to the Inn for dinner before and we knew we wanted to make food a priority. Chef Jerrel hit it out of the park for the rehearsal dinner, the cocktail hour/reception, and the brunch the next morning! Also because they have rooms upstairs, we were able to have our closest family stay and not have to worry about any travel! We couldn't recommend them enough!”

“Choosing Beaverkill Valley Inn as our wedding venue was an absolute dream come true - it's not just one of the best decisions we've made for our wedding. The memories we created there, the truly exceptional hospitality of the staff, the meticulous attention to every tiny detail, and the cuisine were simply out of this world. Diana and Kaitlyn are more than just professionals; they're wedding day superheroes. Their unwavering calm and ingenious problem-solving skills are exactly what every couple needs, especially when facing unpredictable weather or guest-related challenges. They consistently went above and beyond our wildest expectations. Chef Tommy curated a delicious menu and our guests were absolutely gushing about how delicious the food was. It’s rare that wedding food feels restaurant quality but at BVI it is! Every dish was cooked to perfection and was full of flavor. The staff at BVI consistently exceeds expectations. Every time I encountered a staff member, they genuinely inquired about my well-being, offered assistance, and sought ways to alleviate any wedding day stress. It was a truly remarkable experience. Beaverkill Valley Inn's setting is perfect - an ideal location for gathering your guests for a weekend getaway. From the welcoming front porch to the cozy fireplaces and the expansive property complete with bonfires to conclude your evening, it offers everything you could want. Our guests were constantly amazed, often asking, "How did you find this incredible place?" Their admiration extended to the Inn's staff as well. Words can't fully capture the magic of this place, but I'm eternally grateful that we chose Beaverkill Valley Inn for our special day. “We recently had our wedding at ElmRock Inn bnb and we feel very lucky to have made lasting memories there. Rain or shine the grounds were absolutely stunning and the décor tied the ambiance together to create a warm and rustic look to our wedding that we always envisioned. We were blessed with a rainy morning which did not stop us from having a beautiful ceremony. The staff was extremely helpful as we transitioned with the weather. Jen and the other wait staff was very attentive in ensuring that everyone with food restrictions were taken care of. The food was beyond expectations, we had so many guests that came up to us to send compliments to the chef. The reception went off without a hitch! We were even lucky enough to get a visit from the friendly deer that like to roam the property which created the most spectacular and unique photos. There are only a few suggestions that we had about our experience. Those of our guests staying in the Carriage house hit a few snags during their visit. There are a few lifted nails in the floor boards that our guests hit as they walked barefoot upstairs. There was also some difficulty finding hooks to hand towels that were being used or to hang a suit. We stayed in the Iris room which was a beautiful space, however, we were woken up each morning quite early to staff having some loud conversations in the kitchen below us. The only trouble we had during the reception was during our cake cutting. We noticed the cake was not taken out with enough time to thaw after being in the fridge because it was difficult to cut. Regardless of these small challenges, we still had such an amazing time and could not be more happy with this unforgettable day. Thank you ElmRock Inn!”
