They had an uncommon knack for shifting between taking charge themselves and allowing me to direct the couple or their families, all the while exuding a sense of calm and control that put me, and I’m sure the couple, at ease. I often find that working with other vendors can be an intrusive or even combative process, where each is trying to vie to be the most important to the couple and which ultimately serves no one—the couple, me, or the vendor themselves— well.
