I'm an artist who loves cake. I graduated from the USC Roski School of Fine Art with a BA in Fine Art and Italian. In 2008 I began my official culinary journey, working for some of the top cake companies in the US before opening my own San Diego wedding cake studio in 2020.

Hi! My name is Sarah Martinez, Owner, Founder and Pastry Chef of Sarah’s Dessert Bar. I started this business officially in January 2022 after unofficially starting it from my home making desserts and birthday cakes for friends and family. It quickly grew to the point I could no longer work my other job at the hotel I was working at, and had to choose between the two. I chose to take the leap of faith and embark on my own entrepreneurial journey.

This love may have started with my Dad's bakery we had growing up, Salvatore's Bread and Pizza Bakery. He made fresh Italian bread for many restaurants in our town! Also growing up in a large Sicilian family was something that was so special, there were so many gatherings and events happening all the time ( oh, and Sunday dinner at my Nonna's house every week, yum!)
