How much do wedding & reception venues cost?

The cost of wedding venues varies, with factors influencing cost including size, location, guest count, and, most importantly, whether things like catering and rentals are included. The more a reception venue near you includes, the higher the cost. When considering venues, try to compare prices apples-to-apples. If one venue includes catering and rentals in their pricing and the other doesn’t, you need to figure out how much additional cost those outside vendors would be to make a true comparison. Before booking, be sure you’re aware of additional costs outlined in your contract, like parking fees and weather-related considerations (adding a tent, etc.).

What questions should we ask wedding venues?

When talking with a potential venue, always ask about 1) their availability and 2) their capacity. Some popular venues book up peak season Saturdays nearly 2 years in advance—if your first choice date isn’t available, consider your flexibility on day of the week and year. While maximum capacity is non-negotiable, venues might have guidance on what guest count will be most comfortable. Also, you’ll want to understand what is and is not included in the venue’s fees. Some include catering, tables and chairs, and linens, while others offer just the raw space. These venues are often less expensive because you are only paying for the space itself, and you’ll have to bring in outside vendors

“We live in Massachusetts but my husband is from Sarasota so we wanted to get married in Florida. Bakers Ranch made everything so easy especially since we were from out of town. The entire planning process was relatively stress free because they include and help with so much. The fact that I had someone to email with and ask questions the entire year of planning was huge. Missy was our day of coordinator and she made sure everything ran smoothly. It really took away stress on the wedding day. They provide almost all vendors but you still get a choice (shout out to DJ Rafael with Grant Hemond, Blue Water Catering & Tampa Bay Cake Co). While we wished there was an additional dinner catering option (there were only 2) we were still very happy with Blue Water. They can also help with outside vendors and give recommendations. I highly recommend this venue and it felt like the best bang for our buck!”

“What is there to say! Five stars is simply not enough! Well for starters we just had our wedding at the Terraview on 10.19.24 and it was absolutely INCREDIBLE! There are simply not enough words to describe this venue and this entire atmosphere as well as planning process. Our coordinator was Barbara and she was fantastic. The entire year leading up to our wedding. There was nothing but amazing communication and help at every turn. They make the planning process for your event or wedding so easy and we were so grateful since we honestly had no idea where to begin. Everything was amazing on the day of and was perfect to beginning to end. There is not a thing that we would have changed about our wedding. From the decorations to the florals to the food, there was no detail left out. If you are looking for a truly unique and beautiful wedding or event space, I highly recommend this venue. The details of our day were so intimate and so carefully thought out by the entire team that we had working with us. We worked with the floral department and the bakery and the kitchen to create an amazing day. The transparency is second to none and we are forever grateful. They also have an on-site beauty studio where your hair makeup can get done and they were also fantastic to work with! Gina and her girls are truly talented and made my entire bridal party look stunning. My day of bridal attendant was Belkis and she is absolutely amazing. There was not one thing that we had questions on that she could not handle. She made sure that all the girls were eating. She made sure that I as the bride ate and was hydrated. She made everybody make sure that their dresses were perfect and during the getting ready portion, she was there for us 110% of the time helping with photos. Making sure that every detail on my dress was perfect. There are not enough words for her and I am profoundly grateful. After the ceremony, she insured that we had a drink in our hands and made sure that we were eating during our reception. She made sure that we were eating and brought us water on the dance floor and drinks on the dance floor and was just always at our side ready to help us. She is definitely an asset to this venue in so many ways. It is also close to the Scranton airport if you have guest coming from farther away. They have different venues on site (different sizes and styles) and it’s one event per day at each so you aren’t dealing with other parties. It is absolutely gorgeous. The ceremony sites are outdoors with gorgeous views and the reception rooms are beautiful. It is a family business and you do truly feel like family while working with them. I cannot say enough great things! It’s close to many hotels so getting blocks wasn’t an issue. You also get some rooms on site. You also get a wedding coordinator and a day or person who is well aware of you needs and wants! Our day was absolutely perfect beginning to end! They make it so easy to plan and stress free! Food was absolutely amazing and my guests have been raving since! I had a cocktail reception which I highly recommend exploring! They have their own full bakery so all desserts were also made by them! We are truly grateful for the entire team at the Stroudsmoor, who made our wedding day unforgettable and a day that our guests will talk about forever. The venue itself is truly one-of-a-kind - our guests described it as a fairytale setting, especially with the beautiful winter snow. “We just had our wedding at Deity in April 2024 and couldn’t be happier with how our special day went. The planning process: After we toured the venue, we knew Deity was special. The pricing was very transparent and super reasonable considering everything that’s included – the venue (lounge, loft, and basement), day-of coordinator, food, 50 bar credit pp, basic décor package, and DJ. The space is gorgeous and so unique, unlike any other venue we’ve attended as guests or toured. Each floor has a purpose and accompanying vibe to match – the bridal suite is relaxing and picturesque (highly recommend adding this to your day for an added cost), the cocktail lounge is dreamy, the ceremony loft (and dinner space) is bright yet cozy, and the basement dance floor is funky and fun. Because the venue was already beautifully designed and all inclusive, the only things we needed to provide for the ceremony/reception were signage (welcome, table arrangements, his/her drinks), minimal décor/flowers (we hired a florist for the ceremony arch and did bud vases for the tables and they turned out beautiful), and dessert. Some (including me) may be nervous about all-inclusive venues, however Deity was so accommodating to the little ways in which we wanted to make our wedding unique, such as incorporating cultural outfit changes into the schedule to setting up a late-night instant noodle bar. Finally, Anna, the coordinator included with the venue, was a godsend. She made the whole wedding planning process so much easier, patiently answered all my random questions, and provided guidance where needed. The day of: Our family and friends were blown away by the bridal suite. We were relaxed the whole morning while getting ready and got some beautiful photos to start off the day. Once the day started rolling, Anna and the whole Deity team were on top of everything. They made sure everyone was on schedule but also were flexible with last minute changes, even making sure my husband and I had private moments to ourselves. The food was delicious and plentiful. We had so many guests compliment the cocktail hour bites and dinner service, even our very picky grandma said it was the best salmon she’s ever had. The drinks were flowing and we had guests commenting on how drink service on the dance floor was genius – everyone could continue dancing and no one was ever waiting with an empty glass. Also, my husband and I were initially nervous about an in-house DJ because we are very picky with music but DJ BenHaMeen was amazing, listened to our wants and needs, and kept the dancefloor lively (our photographer even complimented the music!). All in all, we cannot recommend Deity enough. Our guests are still asking if we can have a wedding there every year (we wish!).”

“I went to the open house last year and fell in love with the Venue at First sight. The grass, pecan trees, citrus trees, and then 40,000 lights sold the deal. We got married on 5/25/24, with almost all guests flying in. Every guest commented on how romantic the venue was. Stephanie and Ben were the best; they were both very professional and provided their expertise when needed. I can't forget how the ceremony went perfectly due to the support and always encouraging staff, especially Ben. Ensemble Catering is a part of the venue, and being that I have mostly foodie friends, everyone thought the food was delicious. The late-night Fries and Cookie Wall were discussed for the next few days when guests called to say how much they enjoyed the evening. Another consideration in my 5-star review is that the vendors in the package and on their website were just as great to work with. My husband and I are so grateful to everyone who worked that day and all the others who helped plan and make it the best day of our lives. You have to do the European deserts because those were delicious. The Villa truly exceeded our expectations and gave us the wedding day we had always hoped for. They even worked with us to accommodate some Ukrainian traditions and if you have foreign family that are worried, trust me you’re in good hands. “10/10, The Lake House Inn was our best choice! The outdoor wedding location was enchanted with the indefeasible sunset and the breeze blowing off of the water. “We had our wedding at Olio in April 2025, and it was the perfect venue. We wanted something with an industrial vibe and large space, but the beautiful hardwood floors, ability to customize the space, and the welcoming owner, Sarah, are what truly sold it for us! As an LGBTQ couple, the most important thing to us was to be surrounded by people who support us. Sarah has created an inclusive place for all. Through her venue she is able to uplift a diverse range of communities and cultures. This shows to be a priority to Olio, so if you are looking for welcoming and inclusive, this is the place to be! The space itself is beautiful and has the option to bring in basically any kind of decor you could want. They offer several in house add ons including the string lights we chose to do. Olio provided a large list of preferred vendors, with the option to bring in any other vendors with approval. We used several from the preferred list and they were all amazing! “The view is even better in person. Photos are gorgeous but really can't do justice to the beauty and peaceful vibe at the farm. The team was fantastic. They provided a large bridal suite and grooms suite for us to get ready in. They booked almost all of our vendors and had recommendations for anything not included (local cabins, hotels, transportation, pastors, etc) We didn't lift a finger to decorate anything. They completely took care of all our setup and it was exactly what we wanted and had selected with the wedding planner. The venue is accessible which was really important to us since we had guests in wheelchairs. “The Wheeler House made my dream wedding come true! We just got married there this October and from the moment I finalized a date with them (which they book up QUICK) to the moment I walked down the aisle, they were 100% helpful, professional, friendly and on point! I worked mainly with Laiken throughout the process and then my day of coordinator, Emma, who was fantastic! I never knew how stressful planning a wedding would be, but it was worth every moment once the big day finally arrived. It was nice working with the preferred vendors that The Wheeler House uses, they all work together so well and it takes the stress out of planning. I live out of state so sadly I wasn't able to make it to one of their open houses, but every vendor I spoke to over the phone was very helpful and answered any questions that I had. You will not be disappointed if you choose The Wheeler House for your wedding day, it is an absolutely beautiful venue. The outdoor space for the ceremony is elegant and so pretty. The barn is gorgeous inside with a huge chandelier and fireplace. It's so amazing to see everything bare bones and then how it completely transforms once all the flowers, decor, food, people and music make everything come alive. The actual Wheeler House itself is the perfect backdrop for all the pictures, which really ties it all in. Our families also stayed in the cottages just down the road from the venue and it was the perfect touch! The cottages were so beautiful inside. Its perfect for families or the wedding parties to sleep and get ready in. We were happy we stayed there, it came in handy that they were so close. All my guests had so much fun, I received so many compliments on how perfect everything was and that it was one of the most beautiful weddings they've ever been too! Donauschwaben’s was one of our venue choices coming highly recommended by our friends and family already. We reached out through their website and within no time we got an immediate response from the Christine, Event/ Wedding planner to set up a meeting together. She is not only extremely kind, but had everything organized so beautifully to choose from it was a no-brainer to choose this venue. She even recommended our DJ who had played a previous wedding there who was incredible. All communication leading up to our big day was efficient and layed out easily for us to understand. Our checks were deposited in a timely manner by the venue, our tasting was so nice and so delicious. The no pressure wedding planning was worth every penny spent. Our wedding day was so special and so beautiful from start to finish from the ceremony, to the cocktail hour, to our lovely reception to follow. Not only was Christine present the day of, but the staff was also on their A game all night long. Everyone was so incredibly friendly and kind, we felt like royalty. We both highly recommend this venue and if you do, definitely get the Schnitzel, Prost! The only recommendation to the venue would be to update their beverage packages to include seltzers such as High noons or White claws. “Flagstaff House was incredible! They were such a great venue. Annie was our event planner, and she was perfect - professional, friendly, and so helpful helping everything run smoothly day of. The food was INCREDIBLE - each of the dishes were delicious and the cake was just as beautiful as it was delicious. Nazareth Hall is known throughout the region as a banquet and wedding facility, but it’s the rich history and lush setting that draws people here. Built in 1927 as an all-boy Catholic boarding school. It eventually evolved into a renowned military school for boys. Throughout its history the school stayed true to its Catholic roots and the nuns who served and taught here. Operating until 1982 the stories written within its walls are still told today. Re-emerging with a new mission and purpose in April of 1991, Nazareth Hall was reborn. It is in this picturesque place, reminiscent of castles of old, that brides come to be married and celebrate with family and friends in grand ballrooms. The classrooms and meeting spaces offer the perfect vintage background for business training sessions, and the manicured lawns have been host to numerous parties and festivities.

Our Farm sits on 54-Acres in Bucks County. Our Seed Barn was originally built back in the 1820's. Our Seed Barn was restored in the Summer of 2016 & seats 160-200 people. Attached to the back of the Seed Barn is a beautiful deck that overlooks the ceremony site. In the lower level of the Seed Barn is our Groom’s Suite! Here you will find a pool table, TV, lounge seating area & more. In 2020 we built our Harvest Barn attached to the Seed Barn through a breezeway. This is home for our commercial kitchen, on-site bathrooms, smaller event space and bridal suite. Lastly, we have a Farm-to-Table bakery onsite for your dessert table & custom wedding cake. The Farm is truly a wonderful place to host your big day! Our goal is to work with each couple to carry out their vision for the day! What is great about The Farm is it truly can be anything you would like it to be, from a backyard barbecue to a beautiful sit down farm-to-table dinner! We would love to serve you on your Wedding Day.

“We love Farm Bakery & Events! This venue is family owned and operated, which you can feel through every step! They are so kind and helpful through the entire day! There are so many beautiful spots on the property to capture photos! There's a huge open field, which is stunning! The property is lined with beautiful trees that change color depending on the season and ends with a section of land that showcases the sunset perfectly! There's even a section with flowers! We can't say enough good things about The Farm Bakery & Events! We're looking forward to capturing more amazing couples in love at this venue this year!”
