“We held our wedding at Mess Hall in October 2024 and couldn't be happier with how things went. From the very beginning, working with Al, the owner, was a dream. He's incredibly responsive and thoughtful and helped us think through a vision for the evening. He had great recommendations for food and drink that felt personal to our taste as a couple. His ability to think big-picture AND attend to the smallest details made for an incredibly smooth planning process and sensational wedding day. Our guests loved the industrial vibe of the garage bay and the farmhouse/tavern feel of the interior rooms - the best of both worlds! When speeches went long during dinner, Al worked with us in the moment to adjust our timeline so we could maximize time on the dance floor. Al doesn't miss a beat. We wholeheartedly recommend Mess Hall for your next big event!”

“AMAZING! Just amazing job done by Colt and his team. I was panicking when I got to the venue because hair and makeup ran an hour over, he assured me we were fine and we’d have plenty of time. He kept us on schedule for the ceremony and reception and just was there every second. Once we got into the reception he brought my husband and I ice packs and put them in the back of our shirt/dress. He made sure we got food, drinks, etc. Colt is amazing. The venue is BEAUTIFUL! Everyone told me how amazing the venue was and the food was so good. The cake was absolutely amazing. The DJ was amazing! We had the best time. I can’t recommend Jordan Springs Estate enough. You won’t be disappointed.”

“We picked Clyde’s because the location was close to my church, where we did the ceremony, and because it was one of the few venues in that radius that fit our budget. I picked Clyde’s for practical reasons and looking back I couldn’t have made a better choice. I always knew I wanted my wedding reception to be fun and relaxed and have plenty of good food and drinks for my guests. Clyde’s so fit the bill. First, the food is simple yet delicious. We already knew that from dining there, and the tasting confirmed it. We were able to make menu choices to please everyone. Second, our room was beautiful and uniquely decorated and that makes a fun atmosphere. It was large enough to fit all our guests and have room to dance (we had about 50 people, but could have fit more in the room.) finally, the service was exceptional - all our guests commented on how great the servers and bartenders were at their jobs. We felt so welcome. The event staff went above and beyond to work with me to decorate and set tables to my specifications. If you are considering Clyde’s, I highly recommend them. DC wedding venues are expensive and Clyde’s was one of the few places we could afford, but even if our budget was higher, I couldn’t imagine a better experience.”

“What initially made us go with the National Press Club was that much of the most complicated aspects of putting a wedding together are available in-house. You deal with one person who asks the right questions up front, assesses your wants and needs and manages every detail from that point forward. If you’re planning your first wedding (like we were), it’s likely you’re already getting overwhelmed by the realization of how many critical details go into a successful wedding. However, at The Press Club: Reception Catering: Check. Cocktail hour catering: Check. Bar: Check. Tables / chairs / linens / etc. Check. Dance floor: Check. Audio Visual technician: Check. Alphabetizing your table place cards. Check. And so on and so on. All we needed to do was hire a deejay, a wedding photographer, a bakery for the wedding cake and the florist. And on the day of the wedding, the NPC staff took care of getting our vendors in and out and dealing with unexpected logistical issues, which there always are with any large events. The pricing was transparent and the estimate on the banquet order was what we paid. Ok, those are the practical reasons the NPC was a great choice. Now for the aesthetics. The Press Club is quintessential Washington, DC classy. They have multiple rooms that one can rent to customize your wedding experience. Our ceremony took place in the Holeman Lounge which flowed into the First Amendment Lounge, where we had our cocktail hour. The First Amendment Lounge offers stunning views of DC, including the Washington Monument and the east wing of the White House. Our reception took place in The Ballroom. We also had a room for our vendors to stage and a private space for us and the wedding party, which was such a nice touch. Many of our wedding guests were in awe of the NPC. It feels very exclusive and so many of them took the opportunity to take pictures of themselves at the Press Club podium and selfies with the luminaries and historical figures adorning the walls throughout. The service: This is where the National Press Club really stands out. We were blessed to have Renee managing the process from beginning to end. We can’t stress enough the amazing service she provided. She went through every detail with us. Twice just to make sure she captured everything correctly down to how we wanted the napkins folded. Two months before the wedding she put together the most beautiful food tasting experience for us. Before locking in our menu, we tasted a number of appetizers that would be served during cocktail hour as well as the dinner options and desserts. We also tasted a variety of wines. All in all, it was a preview of how fantastic our reception would be, with both the food and the service. The day of, Renee and David took fabulous care of us and our guests. Both really went above and beyond of what we could possibly imagine. During our rehearsal the day before, Renee noticed the wedding party was struggling a little to get the timing of the processional right and she jumped in and helped with our timing and ended up cueing us as to when to start walking the actual day. All of this combined to make our wedding a fabulous experience with zero stress. As positive as this review is, it falls hopelessly short of conveying just how wonderful our experience was.”

“We had our son’s Wedding Reception in Andrew Mellon Auditorium in September, 2019. When we wanted to look at the venue, we contacted Jaime Ward of Event Emissary, who manages the venue, and she was so professional and helpful. She kindly agreed to be the event coordinator for our son’s Wedding Reception. We couldn’t have asked for a better venue! Having looked at a few hotel ballrooms, when we first looked at the Andrew Mellon Auditorium, we were awestruck! Even the pretty photos we had seen didn’t prepare us to visualize how magnificent it is! This venue is just magical. Not only are the inside of the venue, the exquisite foyers, and the great hall, also, the surroundings - a photographers’ dream. During the months leading up to the Reception, we were in contact with Jaime. She always answered our e-mails promptly and patiently answered our countless questions about logistics and such. Jaime’s supreme organizational skills took the stress out of everything! 0ur 450 plus guests were raving as to what a beautiful setting Andrew Mellon is. They were also all praise for the event itself – how thoughtfully organized and coordinated. Jaime was just brilliant at handling every aspect of the event, took care of every detail. Our son and daughter-in-law loved every second of their special event. It was so gratifying to see it all come together so beautifully on the day of the Reception. Our heartfelt and sincere thanks to Jaime for helping to make the wedding reception – the one to remember for our lifetime! Our advice to any bride and groom considering this venue – just do it and you will love it! Jaime and staff will go over and above to make sure your dream day will be a memorable one!”

In 1970, we acquired the red brick Quaker House, Carriage House and garden at 2121 Decatur Place NW. Built in the 1920s and also on the National Register, these buildings today house a number of nonprofit organizations and small businesses as well as additional event spaces. With multiple interior spaces and gardens, we can accommodate events of various sizes and layouts, from 2 to 300. We host individuals, non-profit organizations, and for-profit entities. Our event rental prices are affordable, with discounts offered to non-profit organizations in alignment with our values. Whether you are planning a wedding, celebration, a corporate meeting, we can accommodate you.

“Our recent wedding at the Friends Meeting of Washington (near Dupont Circle) was the best possible choice of venue we could make. The staff was helpful, professional, caring, and did all they could to make our day run smoothly. It was lovely to hold the ceremony, reception, and the dancing in one venue. Their beautiful, light-fillled Meeting House space on the second floor well accommodated our very large group of family and friends, and their newly renovated courtyard made it possible to hold the reception and dinner outdoors. We danced indoors on the first floor. It was memorable to me, my beloved, and my family members that I could be married in the same room where my family attended Quaker meeting in the 1960's, where my father's memorial service was held in the mid 'seventies, and where I attended services regularly when I was a young working woman in the 1980's. Many thanks to Brian Luttenegger, Genevi Schindehutte , and the FMW community for all you did to make our wedding day so memorable.”

We loved the food & the tasting session they put together was amazing. We worked with Megan and Alexandra, who walked us through the different blueprints of how the entrance to our reception could be set up with our seating chart, guest book, and special memories display. “Fathom Gallery was the perfect setting for our wedding. The modern, industrial vibe of the venue gives you the canvas to create the wedding experience you want. The prints of our engagement photographs hung in the background were an excellent touch and gave our guests an experience of actually visiting a gallery as they looked through them. The Fathom Gallery team was outstanding. Working closely with us to get our date set up, walking through the details in prep for the day and making arrangements for us to get our rehearsal done. To be honest, we didn’t look at other venues because after seeing Fathom Gallery Georgetown, we didn’t need to look elsewhere. The location was essential for us as our relationship story was centered around Georgetown. To be able to have our wedding and reception where our love began and get to share that with our families and closest friends was a dream come true.”
