Friends Meeting of Washington

The Meeting Room reflects historic Quaker traditions and is elegant in its simplicity. Long poplar benches are hand-hewn as is the surrounding walnut wainscoting. With a ceiling height of 17 feet, the space features windows overlooking our gardens. Padded benches can be arranged to best suit your event (pillows shown in some photos are not included). Guests may enter and exit this space through the east gardens, rented separately, or via our beautiful lobby.

The newly renovated Assembly Room features coffered ceilings, contemporary lighting and dark floors. Three full-height doors open onto the lower west terrace and gardens, rented separately. The room also has a nonworking fireplace. A portion of the room has an optional partition for breakout groups. Enjoy access to a large serving kitchen for catering service or for limited food preparation. Your event may be expanded by the use of the lower west terrace and gardens, rented separately.

Built in the 1920s, historic Quaker House was formerly an elegant townhome to diplomats. This space -- the former residence's multipurpose living room -- features a vaulted ceiling, French windows, and a nonworking fireplace. Its doors open onto a new glass corridor on the north, seamlessly connecting this space to the west terrace and gardens (rented separately), the elevator, the Meeting House and the rest of the venue. Your rental includes access to a kitchenette and a small break-out space.

The Decatur Place Room has immediate access to our east gardens and the bluestone terrace above. It is ideal as a support space for a variety of other events in our larger ceremony and reception spaces. It can be used as: -A green room -A larger prep space for the couple -A quiet room during a larger reception in nearby spaces -Child care

Full of ambiance, this brand new conference room space is located where there was once a terrace above the old carriage house. It is brightened by skylights above and south facing windows. The east and west walls of the conference room are exposed brick with arched French windows. On the north, a glass-paneled, accordion wall opens via the 10-foot deep circulation space onto the upper west terrace and gardens.

The library and parlor are combined for a small space that offers both comfortable, informal seating on upholstered antiques and reproductions as well as a classic oak table for a meeting of six to eight. This space is perfect for a small meeting, discussion, or staff retreat. Pocket doors open onto a hallway that leads to the glass-enclosed lobby overlooking gardens. South and west facing windows provide natural light most of the day. Enjoy the ambiance of gently tended book collections.

This space serves as an informal sitting room with comfortable seating that is perfect for unprogrammed uses. It is private and quiet with a mirror on the wall, so it is ideal for a bridal suite. Brightly lit by windows on three sides, this room opens directly onto the east terrace and gardens allowing easy access to our large Meeting Room for a wedding ceremony.

A natural landscape strategy for the east gardens respects historic plans and poetic inspiration. These gardens are perfect for smaller receptions, photo shoots and filming, as well as outdoor activities connected to events in these indoor spaces. Our gardens make a great space for engagement and anniversary photography.

These gardens offer a private location for your event in the heart of the city. They offer a beautiful setting for larger receptions or additional seating for dinners occurring in the Assembly Room. These gardens may be tented (at an additional cost) to avoid inclement weather.

The upper gardens offer a gathering spot for your event that is private and intimate. Perfect for either your ceremony, reception, or both, these gardens include both a red brick terrace as well as a large grassy space.
